Hi there Thanks so much for this video...lots of great info.Quick question, can the second language(Afrikaans) be done at the IGCSE level with 5 AS levels for other subjects ,and still obtain a Matriculation Certificate from USAF?
Hi there, I'm a cambridge student currently writing my AS level examinations. I wanted to ask if we submit the results that we receive in January for the USAf exemption certificate or do we submit the actual certificate that we receive later on that also contains our results?
Hey, thanks for the comment. To get a South African exemption for a Cambridge International certificate you must fulfill the requirements, which means that if you're choosing option 3, a second language is indeed required. Hope this helps :)
I just have one question regarding the USAF if u could help. The step three of the copies submission, do we have to email it to them or do we have to send the copies to the office via post? I live in a different country so is it possible to just send the document via email or a website?
Hey, thanks for the comment. If you go to their website there's a page you can go to where you there's information about applying for an exemption. mb.usaf.ac.za/exemption-process/
@@cambridgeathome8036 thank you for the help. But i have another question as well. I have done all the processes and even couriered then my Documents. Do they delay in responding? And how long does it take for the matriculation certificate?
Hi Tricia, the actual exemption certificate is issued in approximately 6-8 weeks after receipt of all relevant and correctly certified documents as well as the requisite payment.
Hey Kamogelo. I am taking a gap year for 2021 working on this TH-cam channel & the CAH Blog, as well as a few personal projects & hobbies. I plan on studying Computer Science next year, though I am not entirely sure where yet - I am deciding between two universities right now, one in Germany and one here in South Africa. I'm sure I'll make TH-cam videos about that when I start though
Hi 👋 So I have a question, to be accepted at university do I have to take English As level or is it still okay as English o level? And I took 4 As level subjects , can I still get accepted if the subjects are economics, business, biology and accounting and then my o level subjects are maths extended and English?
Hi there, thank you for your comment. Sorry if the video didn't make things clear for you! I will link the blog I made on the same topic for you so you can go take a closer look. All the information you will need to determine your eligibility will be there. Good luck :) www.cambridgeathome.net/cambridge-subjects-needed-for-south-african-university-exemption/
Good Afternoon Ma'am I hope you can help me, I'm a little confused on what do. Next year I want to start my studies (cambridge curriculum) and my Career focuse is becoming a medical practitioner (doctor) but what's confusing is that the APS score at for instance Nelson Mandela University is 430 and if I take for instance 3 A Levels which counts 115 plus 1 IGCSE which counts 75 in total it adds up to 420 this to me is confusing can you please give me guidance.
hey, I am considering to apply to South African universities for the 2022 January intake. I am doing Linear A-levels and my results come out in January 2022 for 3 subjects, how would the matriculation board give me an exemption in time for me to apply by end of August 2021.
Hey Janice. I asked my friend who studies at a SA university - and from what I can gather, it really depends from university to university. The best advice I can give you is to chat with the admissions office before the end of August as to what exactly they would like you to do, hopefully they can be of help as to what exactly their specific procedure is. Hope this helps :)
Hi! I have a quick question, in my case I have already done an application to USAF for the exemption, however I'm at the stage where they require an acceptance letter from the institution I've applied to. Will a provisional acceptance letter still be allowed by the Board? If you have any knowledge about this it would be of great help. Thank you!!
Hi Diya, that's interesting, I didn't require an acceptance letter to get my exemption, so I'm afraid I can't help you there! Hope you find the answer to your question :)
I’m starting IGCSE soon and I would like to take : Maths extended, chemistry, biology, physics, English and Accounting and the Same for A levels but I do not want to take a second language ( Afrikaans) . Is it still possible for me to be granted exemption?
No, unfortunately you do require a 2nd language. Here's the official pdf: www.cambridgeinternational.org/Images/523166-university-recognition-south-africa.pdf
@@cambridgeathome8036 oh ok, I looked at the pdf and see that it says I need a second language in either IGCSE or A levels, does that mean I could drop the second language after I complete the igcse? and still be granted exemption?
Hey wanted to know if the a levels are linear in 2023 as I just wrote my as exams in south africa and didn't do that well. Should I rewrite those as exams or just focus on the a level exams as the as grades don't matter.
Hey there :) To complete your A Levels you will always have to do AS Level content, it just depends on whether you write them in one go or spaced out (AS one year and A levels another). Your A Level results will therefore always include and be affected by your AS Level results
Hey!! I have English as a second Language and Urdu as a first language in o levels. But can I take an additional language in A levels, rather than having to submit my Urdu grade in o level?
Hi there! I'm honestly not as well versed in the requirements as I used to be.. Maybe check out the link in the description of the video, that'll take you to a pdf that breaks all the different subject and group requirements down, hopefully that can help you :)
Hi! Most uni applications open in April 2022, can you please suggest when would be the best time to apply for the certificate, that is, before or after I apply to the university? Also, USAF told me they need the uni offer letter in order to grant me the certificate. But the offer letter can only be obtained after applying, and some unis won't give offer letters unless I have the Matriculation certificate. It's kind of a contradiction. What should I do?
Hi Stefani, that really does sound like quite the pickle. In terms of my past experience, most Universities are happy to accept you before you apply for your exemption via. USAF. If not, I would communicate with the University regarding how you should go about getting around this contradiction, as it really shouldn't exist. Sorry I can't be of more help, good luck :)
Hey Makhosi. You do not have to do 6 IG subjects to be eligible for a USAF exemption, however depending on what and where you want to go study, the requirements universities have for applicants will vary.
Hey John, thank you for your comment. Generally universities require you to have a matric to apply, and IGCSE isn't a matric equivalent - AS Level is. Therefore I'd think it'd be pretty hard to find a university that accepts IG results as an application. I would enquire the specific institution you want to go to though :)
@@cambridgeathome8036 Sorry one more question for Option 3 we have to take 2 different languages English first language and a second language. Does that second language have to be AS level or can it be IGCSE.
@@john-alexmontaldos4964 That is a great question. From my understanding, the second language can be passed on either IG or AS Level. However, it does seem a bit unclear. I would suggest enquiring USAF to be entirely sure.
