    Thank you for sharing this helpful video. The factory lights had gotten very dim to the point that we could only drive with the the high beams. I was looking at paying the Acura dealer over $800 to replace both headlights. Got the lights professionally buffed and converted to the LED's and now a 7 year old car shines brighter than the day we bought it new. Thanks again my friend.

      Exact same here. Acura quoted a fortune, seeking new LEDs now, trying to decide which one's would be best as there are so many to choose from.

      Do you mind sharing what you paid for headlight restoration? Definitely the way to go if you can as new headlight assemblies are crazy expensive.

    I went through this when I picked up my RDX. I could not see at night with the factory halogens, so I upgraded to led. It made a slight difference but was still very dim.
    After doing some research, it turns out our headlamp housing had an issue that was never recalled. The projector reflectors delaminate and no longer reflect light properly. After buying new housings and installing them with the led's it made a HUGE difference.
    First I picked up the Katana led's, which were much brighter, then I went with the DDM tuning Saber ProX 55 Accu/V2 bulbs and they were insanely bright, even brighter than the HID's. But only after changing out the housings.

      @@jamesmullarkey5851 1A auto, about $420 for both. Only issue with the 1A vs OEM, is the light beam is somewhat scattered on the 1A assemblies due to the way the bulb sits in their lens. You will lose a slight amount of output, but it's much better than the delaminated lenses.

    I have a 2013 RDX with halogens. When I bought it new I thought the head lights were ok, but after a couple of years the lights were dimmer and I was really straining to see the road at night especially when the road was wet. Over time more cars had HIDs and completely washed out any light from my headlights. Installed some Philips VisionPlus bulbs (60% brighter), helped slightly but the brightness continued to deteriorate. Took it to my Acura dealer...”your headlights are fine...nothing wrong with them” left in frustration. Bought an HID retrofit from The Retrofit Source and had to pay $600 for installation. They were not helpful with installation advice. Couldn’t wait to have modern, bright headlights and be able drive at night again. When I picked up the car the right light was noticeably dimmer than the left one. Thought it might be an installation error so I switched one thing at a time, no change. Also, one bulb would sporadically fail to ignite. Called TRS and requested help and replacement parts to further do A B testing. No change in brightness. Further examination of the original factory right projector lens and I find a fingerprint inside, only possible during manufacture. I guess they don’t wear gloves at the supplier. Looked at the lenses in some other cars and they mostly appeared to have very clear glass lenses, not cloudy with fingerprints like mine. Checked out RDX user forums an low and behold , there was a recall some some 2014 RDXs due to degrading reflector chrome. That would explain most of the symptoms I had been having with the original lights. Problem is the the recall didn’t cover my year. This would call for all new headlight assemblies L&R, an expensive proposition. TRS won’t do custom builds. I was hesitant to use a privateer with an unknown lead time. It I kept searching on TH-cam and found Vision Autoworks and gave them a call. Yes! They could build me some custom bi-LED lights, I didn’t want any downtime removing and sending them my stock lights so they gave me an unbelievable price (much less than I could find) for new assemblies that they would retrofit. They turned those around in just a couple of weeks even though they said the lead time made got be long due to the number of rebuilds they were doing. I haven’t installed them yet because I gave my car to my daughter for use during college, but will install during Winter break in January. I will post a review on the Vision Autoworks site when done. They were extremely helpful and you could tell that they were hands on enthusiasts and not just trying to sell you something. You can see the set they built for me on their site.

    Do you feel like these are too bright for oncoming traffic? Seems like a great idea because my lights are so dim, but I’m afraid of blinding oncoming cars. What do you think? Also, any issues with using these vs standard as far as electrical overload or heat overload?

    • @ScrufsGarage
      @ScrufsGarage  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, while these are brighter than the stock halogens, they still aren't as bright as some factory LED/HID setups. Also making sure the headlights are aimed correctly will help avoid blinding oncoming cars. As for electrical load, the LED's would pull less load vs halogens. And I haven't any into any overheating issues either.

      @@ScrufsGarage Welp, my passenger side is mildly brighter but my drivers side looks like it's shining through a cloth. Through some research I find that the 2013-2015 Acura RDX have a reflective surface that delaminates and causes very low light output. There is basically nothing I can do at this point except use my high beams liberally and hope I don't get pulled over. The RLX version actually had recalls due to poor light output but nothing for the RDX.
