I purchased a new janome 1600p in May of 2022. I have constant problems with bobbins and tension. I really regret this purchase. Total frustration.

Great video, thanks. Just got a new to me 1600p. After a clean and oil, needle seems very close to foot. Have i put it on wrong?

I love that you have shown the ‘undercarriage’ of the unit, it really helps. I have one of these, only one year old, and its reverse lever has started to sort of gotten harder to press down. It now moves up and down as well when I hand-turn the wheel, or press the foot pedal. When it’s depressed down, it’s stuck in that position, unless I push it up.
Might you be able to venture what could be the problem? Should I be able to solve it or should I take it to the dealer? Thanks so much in advance.

Maybe try lubricating the reverse lever linkages along with the feed mechanism linkages. Thanks.

@@InStitches thanks so much for replying. On hindsight it was risky for me to have bought it, with the nearest dealer 2.5hr flight away. I just thought when it’s supposed to be such a beast, I wouldn’t have any problems so soon. But I guess I need to step up with the oiling and upkeeping more!

My bernina overlocks live in my basement, they don’t see the light of day and yet the plastics are all yellow.

This video was very helpful. Thank you so much for creating it. I have a quick question I hope you can answer. My used Janome 1600p db has a problem with the bobbin winder. The switch on the front does not work. Also, up at the top, it seems like the mechanism is not very tight - it doesn't click. Any ideas what I should do to repair it? Thank you.

I showed your video to my husband, how you took the "bonnet" off. He found the problem and repaired it. The little plug had come undone. Thank you so much!

Can you please advise me I have a problem with my feet, I am looking for a sturdy footless sewing machine that is not for beginners

Do you mean a machine that can be operated without feet? If yes, can you operate knee control? Elna early supermatic have knee control lever. Or Elna air electronic models use a pneumatic air pedal, which can be placed on desk and use elbow while using hands to guide fabric. Or mount pedal inside desk knee area and lean thigh on it.

Foot control? Yes. Actually plenty of computerized machines have a Start/Stop button which allows for sewing without the use of a foot control!

My Vking Designer 1 bought new in 2001 has such a slower thread cutting mechanism that I never use it. Could it be because it's a computer driven machine?

    • @InStitches

Some of the domestic machines do have slow thread cutters. This one, being closer to industrial is reasonably fast. Thanks.

Plastic gear driving the hook. The new ones have a plastic eccentric lifting the feed dogs. So as good as they are, failure will always be some time in the future.

Yes, in that respect, nowhere near industrial standard. Thanks.
