Trying not to be defeated by ‘Man Flu’ this week, I managed to get a bit of work done on the diesel fuelling area.
I’ve also had an idea which could create some more area for a Town Scene - just not sure whether it’s a great idea or if my cold is clouding my judgement!! Please let me know your thoughts on the potential upper area.

Why not put an inclined road from the bridge and put a town scene / warehouse on the lower level and incorporate the points to lead into a yard for the warehouse or possibly a terminus station enough for single car or 2 car dmu .

Thank you. Yes, that could work. It’s got me thinking - a warehouse and small goods yard?! 👍

Or perhaps you could find a reason to run many different locos and make the siding and the area a heritage railway site lay extra tracks with preserved and damaged stock too with a workshop and car park area and buses coming down from your incline road

Good idea to have a raised area as it will obscure the sharp curves, but definitely no more retaining walls! Why not slope the landscape down with buildings on the hillside rather than another flat surface?

How about siding into a factory (brewery or something )and other side of wall worker's cottages corner shop post office and a pub with step's up the wall ? It's a ider.

Hi you could extend the road from the bridge to the area to a canal dock water scene, loading coal onto barges etc, this would give you a fiddle yard with storage for wagons & test your modelling skills even further! Get well soon all the best !

Absolutely Awesome Installation, looks really Sharp - Classic Colour scheme on that Crane looks “The Dogs” - Squeeze the Juice from Half a Lemon into half a Tea cup of water and drink, every morning to balance your Ph levels, and to ward off Coughs, Colds & Sore holes as my old Gran used to say. Happy Modelling 😁👍🏻

Hey there, I've been a silent witness to this build so far, but figured I would come out of the shadowss, this is really coming together, I really like how you are pacing this build. The fueling station is really looking great and I think the retaining wall and elevation would add a lot of interest. As long as it makes sense functionally. Looking forward to the next video and hope you feel better, man flu is a VERY serious thing. All the best, Hylt

I like your idea, but I'd definitely keep the point and have a small industry siding protected by a catch point, for you to have a bit of shunting interest.

Hi Andy, ah, so many suggestions, I always find it difficult to say what to do without actually being there and having a cuppa while the trains go round. I would say go with what you think looks right, personally i think it needs some sort of town scene but how it fits in would be down to you. Whatever you do I’m sure it will look just fine, hope you’re feeling better, cheers, John

In my opinion towns are not built on brick walls and if you’re going for realism you could go for a gentle hill rising to the start of a residential area, your station doesn’t need to be in a town centre, I’m thinking along the lines of somewhere like Tring station. The edge where you lined up the wall and portals could be a gentle hill and the station side and bridge could be a cutting rather than a tunnel. Tunnels are obviously expensive and you’re not going to have enough height to warrant one, cut and cover would be unrealistic due to the proximity to the tunnel exit. Even the approach to Liverpool Lime Street which would be a lot deeper than your terrain the majority of the cut and cover has been removed. I’d say make a hill, some relatively boring farm land and a cutting. You could always model the farm land as being harvested, that would be both interesting and challenging if you modelled a combine harvester mid thrash.

Have a go at turning the whole area in to a hill top with the tunnels coming out in different places. The raised town scene is a brilliant idea you could even cover your workspace with a removeable street section. Think foam board with housing that has a lower level because of the slop down to the track. That third track could even follow the two mainline tracks suggesting that there had once been an older tunnel now partly buried in the hillside. Take all the space for the hill with little or no brick wall on that side of the town.

    🇺🇦
    His Andy.
It would be good to have a town scene, because you can let your imagination run wild with all the difference scenes you can use.
With the tunnel what I've done is put a church on top. With nice trees and grass for people to chill out. Works for me.
As for the fuelling station wow you don't need any tips with that buddy, superb bit of modelling.
Stay safe Andy and get rid of the man flu.

I vote for town scene on raised level. Maybe with a cutting for railway line at back. And a small industry for the little railway siding 😊

Your progress continues to entertain me. I love watching your videos. As for the town scene for me, the opportunity for videoing the trains would be lost under a town. but if the town was at track level, this would offer a lower through town recording as the trains pass. If the town was a separate module, this could be removed and replaced with a workstation of the same or similar shape so as you model you can still enjoy the benefits of your hard work. Either way, happy modelling

I think the town scene would be perfect there and it will hide the turn. If you put the edge of the town flush (parallel) with the side of the soldering board and across to the tunnels you could turn the siding into an area for a small gravel/ballast works or whatever they're called. The piles of gravel would fit between the siding and the embankment wall. Then a small loco related industrial area between the town and all the way over to that gate.

Think that tunnels/raised town scene would look great. Maybe keep the siding for engineers stuff? Fuelling point looks really good. The more I see of this layout the more I admire it.

Hope you feeling better? Like the raised town scene idea. To me it then more sense of the ramp from the station and across the tracks. For the siding area, if you have or can add a crossover on the main tracks plus maybe a head-shunt, why not have a factory/industrial area with a couple of sidings? Would give a purpose to the area plus one side of your town scene. Also an excuse to buy specific wagons, depending on what the factory is (e.g grain wagons for food factory).

Just my twopennysworth, but if you're wanting to fill the space with some buildings with a bit of height, then maybe a goods yard. Plenty of scope for railway 'things' plus buildings such as a depot for unloading etc and a warehouse to give you height. This would also give you the play value of shunting etc whilst the other trains are trundling round the layout

Hi mate remember that oid saying if it looks right then it is right and I think you're idea is a good one but maybe perhaps make it removable and fit another scene in underneath that you like so as to be able to have a change perhaps ? then you could get the best of both worlds . I would definitely keep that point in put a track in an see how it evolves when the juices start flowing again good luck brilliant layout .

Remove the point. Squeeze a litte closer to the mainline. If it works with your theme i would use a concrete retaining wall on the new city section with UK style graffiti. Maybe have a small terraced garden overlook near the double track. How's the creeper vine practice going?

My 2 pence thoughts would be not to put tunnel mouths in, but I like the idea of a raised built up scene. I think making it into a walled cutting extending from the road over bridge following the line curvature and then stepping down from where you have that point (but loose the point) A road could then continue from the current road ove bridge through the new raised area and then come down the stepped wall to continue along that board and connect with the level crossing you installed to access the MPD
You have made a good job so far if your walls, I think you could make it work. Also would be tempted not yo fill the raised area with too many buildings, more s village green area with a pub, post office and maybe shop with a green with a butter cross or the like. Just my thoughts, rule One applies
Happy modelling, and thx for another update
