I have been loving your walk through and narration! Though I'm at a predicament with what to do with my players before finishing the first chapter! My party wants to join the Xanathar guild before fully exploring the sewer hideout. They are planning to try and trade Ranaer for Floon! How would you suggest concluding this first chapter if they don't want to fight those they find in the sewer?
Floon is totally useless to Xanathar, you can make him be in the fighting pits jail cell in Xanathars Guild until the players arrive and they have to rescue him from a fight. Ranaer will probably not want to go along with the players plots unless they have a very good plan to explain to him. Good luck!
@Your Pocket GM thank you! They left the hideout and tried to contact the Zhentarim and get them to clear the sewer for them. I had the Z guild anonymously contact them saying they would need to prove themselves and clear the sewer before they would help. We just had this session last night, and they cleared the sewer but ran as soon as they got floon, not following the mind flayer or exploring any of the rooms lol. They got pretty beat up from the intellect devour.
Glad to hear they made progress! I think the adventure has a rough start that isn't very clear for players- make sure that you keep mentioning the "hidden cache of gold coins under the city" and try to make sure that is the clear goal of not only the players, but other characters in the world as well. It's the one thing that unites all these crazy unrelated events together! Don't forget to show them cool magic items like: Ring Of Spell Storing Wand Of Lightning Bolt Wings Of Flying Belt Of Giants Strength But of course, these items are only available for people with thousands of gold pieces! Where would the players get that?
@Your Pocket GM thank you! I'm excited to see where this goes. Your videos are a life saver as this is my first time DMing; been a long time player though for about 15+ yrs
@Your Pocket GM my party has no problem focusing on the hidden treasure, but they have chosen an evil alignment (CN to CE) and tend to act and think they are stronger and tougher than they actually are hahaha
