  • Aptos Solar is a newer solar panel manufacture entering the solar industry with a rather unique approach. Offering customers a sleek all black panel, with a reasonably high wattage at an affordable price. But is this 4-year company offering better or equal panel performance compared to the likes of LG Solar, QCELLS, and REC?

    I have Aptos 440W panels on my roof. 18 on the South and 15 on the West, got them turned on a few weeks ago. I'm very fond of them so far. Good production and very nice look. They look better than all the panels I see on other homes. I had concerns about them before installation, but I have been pleasantly surprised.

      Brian are you happy with your system? do you still have a electric bill from utility company? or does solar panels provide all your power needs?

    Just got 35 Aptos 360 panels IQ8 Micro inverters and enphase 10kw battery. Waiting on city to come and inspect and install new meter

      I'm sorry someone asked if the system was performing better than expected. I don't know what I did but was answering it some how I lost it.
      To answer their question they had to come remove the panels to do a rough-in inspection and reinstall panels. Rough-in passed it took 2 weeks to get panels back up due to wind they got them back on 4/5/22. Waiting on final inspection where I live they don't know what they are doing with solar (2 different inspectors told me this) so they have to do a rough-in and final inspection takes 2 days to do a one day job.
      So I'm patiently waiting. The funny thing is my electric meter has quit working so last month's bill was only $35.00

    Thanks for this review. Kosmos solar in Dallas is installing these. I’m working to get 21 panels for 7.56 kW system. Kosmos is guaranteeing 10,381 kwh first year production

    More info on the voiding warranty if "commercial" modules are used in a "residential" application. Down here in Mexico the smallest modules available to us as installers are of around 465 watts and up.

    I appreciate you bringing this newish company/panel to our attention. :)
    One of the things you mentioned several times was the size of the panel. The 440W Aptos panel is less than 7 feet, not 8 feet. 7.2" taller than the LG.
    Again, great video.
    Incidentally, with the 440W panels you'd get more for your money using the IQ8H microinverters.

    • @shroud1390
      @shroud1390 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The IQ8h will be a 1.14 dc:ac ratio. Thats worse than say an IQ8+ at 1.46 or a 8A at 1.2. The 8+ will produce more in most climates.

    • @pbjsandwich2537
      @pbjsandwich2537 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@shroud1390 Enphase IQ8 specifications vary from model to model. There are five different versions of the IQ8 to fit all possible PV modules. They are listed below from the least to the most powerful:
      IQ8 (245 VA peak output)
      IQ8+ (300 VA peak output)
      IQ8M (330 VA peak output)
      IQ8A (366 VA peak output)
      IQ8H (384 VA peak output)
      With the Aptos 440W panel you get the most output from the IQ8H.

    • @shroud1390
      @shroud1390 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pbjsandwich2537 IQ8H would be 1.14:1 ratio. enphase has a whole paper on sizing and higher ratios are better to a point. Look up “Right sizing”. Here is the conclusion:
      “For a microinverter application, optimal energy harvest will generally result by selecting a module rated up to 125 percent of the maximum inverter power rating. The warmer the climate, the higher this percentage should be, assuming optimal tilt of the PV array. If the array is mounted on a horizontal surface, the module power rating will be substantially higher. In some cases, a module with an STC power rating of up to 140 percent of the inverter rating is justified.”
      Given that, the 8a is better with the 440W panels

      @pbjsandwich2537 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shroud1390 My reasoning comes from looking at this Enphase tech brief starting with the charts on page 3. Seems like you get a lot more energy during off-peak times with a higher watt panel. Extrapolating, IQ8H should be the best for the Aptos 440W panels.

  • @billberardi4830

    You really should update this video as u dont even mention weather rating and how the aptos is built for severe weather environments like TX and FL see. In addition to the 440 panels superior other features to the 370.
    Really bad cop out as well when you make a claim about the 440 "commerical" and "some" companies will void warranties when used on residential. Aptos is not one of those companies so you making that claim is unprofessional and false. In addition to your false statement about the panel size being a foot larget then it really is.

    These prices have to be before dealer fees 🙄 way too cheap. Bad way to show homeowners prices that are not realistic 🤦🏻‍♂️

      I believe the pricing was for panel+inverter only.
