I recently purchased this camera and in low light it looked really, really, really, really crappy. I mean this camera was infested with the nastiest graininess I have ever seen. Then I noticed there was a recent firmware update to V3....I still had V1. The difference is like the dark side of the moon versus a day on the sun. If anyone has experienced terrible grain or a high compression-like video footage, get the recent firmware....once you get in there and fine tune this amazing machine, it's like the camera has been upgraded with a bigger sensor or something and looks really close to an APS sensor found in many DSLR cameras. Major major upgrade. Thanks JVC!
You're the man! Been having grain problems since day 1 with this thing and always thought I was nuts cause I couldn't figure out how to get a clean shot. Updated the firmware and the difference is huge like you said. Thanks for the comment!
king shaman Seriously man! I convinced my work to buy 2 of these through the B&H article below, and the video always came out grainy no matter what I did. Felt like an idiot, but it didn't make sense cause all my research said it was good. Glad everything worked out. www.bhphotovideo.com/explora/video/hands-reviews/bh-wedding-guide-which-video-camera-best-you
