Great tips, though you may want to install 90° elbows on each end tank fill as they are almost blocked by the kink. Also flavour might be a little off due to using garden hose not drinking hose? I did similar last year as we have dual tanks but only one filler so could not fill the tanks individually to get them completely full.
These tips are brilliant guys!, I’m very green to caravans (picking up our first ever van next month) so the cleaning of tanks is something I hadn’t even considered, but makes perfect sense! These ‘how to videos’ are very helpful for rookie travelers like myself 👌🏼
@@TripInAVan Our caravanning friends and us have a caravan moto. If an item has only one use, leave it home. The only exceptions to the rule are a generator and fishing tackle. it's surprising just how you can find a second (or third) use for things in your van. Might not work for a permanently travelling family such as the TIAV. However for the grey nomad ... it's a great challenge.
Love the video and found the connection of the tanks a great idea. I have an Elite caravan which has what they called a "Quick Fill System". This means that you can optionally fill the tanks using the hose connection without having to discconnect. This is essentially like the setup you've created, but ours has a bit of an issue when it comes to adding the tank cleaner as there are no fill points. I then remembered a previous video of yours, where you filled the tank in the lc200 and transferred it using the IL280P inline pump. I used a similar method with this pump to transfer the premixed liquid in a jerry can to the empty tanks. All worked brilliantly, thanks to your previous video on water transfer. Continue on with these great videos, love them.
@@TripInAVan ok so heres the tip. firstly you must understand I am the worlds worst handyman. What you take for granted is to me a minefield of terror. I have a Sunseeker van although mine is a couple of years older then your first one it is some ways. especially the plumbing. I have 3 h2o tanks they have factory fitted garden taps. So off to Bunnings get heaps of gear. come back start and find out its not going to work as it all hangs below the caravan so need to swap out all taps for straighter ball valve (like yours). bunnings trip 2 and all bits found. take out taps... wrong size fittings for the tap end. back to bunnings 3. That by the way is the standard I have set for all my DIYs. 3 trips. did it. all working and brilliant. The only thing I got real wrong was being smart I used the blue hose thinking it was drinking water qual etc. fail.. it is very soft and kinks badlly. but alas my friend I succeeded. cheers legend !
Love manifold idea. Do you have any issues with plastic tap connectors getting broken when on dirt roads? Noticed you used garden hose for manifold but potable water hose from tap. Is there any taint from garden hose? Cheers
Great idea of connecting your tanks mate, however wouldnt it be better with food grade hose instead of garden hose that can leach nasties into your tanks?
I notice you didn't use water drinking grade hose i.e. the same as the one you used from the mains tap to the first tank. Does that matter? I think I've answered my own question i.e. not used all the time and only a very short distance between taps~
Our van has never been parked up longer than a few weeks so I’ve never really worried about what level they are left at. I really don’t think it matters hey. I’d put one of those clear oxide tablets in each tank if your parking up for ages, that would keep it clean
Can you please confirm- is it empty, put solution in and fill, sit overnight, dump then refill, dump again and fill? That’s a lot of water. Just want to clarify if that’s what you meant at the end when you said to flush again.?
Thanks so much for the prompt reply! Heading to straddie on Sunday and haven’t cleaned out tanks since the dealership filled them 6 weeks ago. And we keep getting sick when we go out in the van 🤣 someone suggested we need to clean our tanks last week on our last trip.
Awsome vid guys. Any reason you haven't done many vids of nsw East Coast south of Wollongong? Awsome spots from Kiama down to Bega and great hip camps too. A youtuber named Chris baman from Ulladulla would probably do a collab with you.
pro tip #37. Add a bag of $2 ice from the servo at the stop before your grey water tank / toilet empty. It sloshes around and grinds the muck off the tank walls...
why didn't you use fresh water hose rather than garden hose which makes the water taste like plastic maybe u need to look at that my friend happy day's
You are smarter than the engineers who made the caravans. Good job mate!
After all these years your still one of the best of the caravan channels thanks for the hot tip
@@garryboyd104 cheers mate
Thanks , good idea on connecting the tanks together !! Bec was right you are smarter than you look !! 😂👍👍🍻🍻
😂😂thanks , I think
Thanks for the hot tip mate. You're a legend.
Cheers mate
Thanks for the info.
Much appreciated.
A tip for you. Put a short length of hose in the spout of the watering can next time.
Cheers Mick
Great tip!
Pro tip on the water tank fill hack. Awesome work
Cheers bud
Awesome idea. We have fitted a similar system to our van. Works perfectly!!
Nice tip with the hoses

I like the idea. I will look at my tanks to see what fittings are required simplify my water refills.
Glad it was helpful!

Great idea mate! Cheers
Cheers mate!! Helpful!
No problem 👍
Lovely Tip

Great video. Do you have any more info on the c zone system. I would like to be able to see how many litres we have in each tank. Thanks
I don’t sorry mate. It was all installed at factory
Love the videos❤
thanks so much
so simple yet so brilliant.. great tip mate
Glad you liked it

What water purifier do you use? Thanks.
How do you get rid of the smell in the grey water tank? Do you use the same product?
Yeah it works or just white vinegar
What do you do with the tank cleen solution when you drain it from the tank?
On the ground
Great video. No one can tell me if the Tank Cleen is suitable for stainless steel tanks? It's ok for plastic tanks.
It’s not gonna hurt em
Hey Justin where did you buy the blue hose from you fill your water tanks with. Cheers
Ummmm, Bunnings I think hey
Good vid. But would posdibly be beyter to use non taste water friendly hose so you dont get that rubber taste?
Yeah I spose. I been fillin my tanks with same hose for 7 years😂
Justin when you are parked up do you store the tanks full? I like your way as it will also help eliminate Airlocks too
I never really worry about how much is in them when I park up. It’s never parked long enough to really matter😂😂
Love manifold idea. Do you have any issues with plastic tap connectors getting broken when on dirt roads? Noticed you used garden hose for manifold but potable water hose from tap. Is there any taint from garden hose? Cheers
I don’t notice any taint. But I’d reckon best to use the drinking water hose to make the manifold as well👍
Was that big hint or have I missed the information....you guys getting a 300 and chopping it etc?
300 coming, but staying a wagon
Great idea of connecting your

Yes, you are right

Yeah it’s all I had and didn’t know if it was gonna work so I didn’t wanna waste my good hose 😂 ideally you’d use a drinking water hose I suppose
Super stuff mate. Oh by they way my better half reckon you need a haircut!😉
Working on it!
Do you store with your tanks full or empty - (rigged my tanks up the same after watching your vid. Works a treat 👍

Just dump once and refill then flush fresh water through all your taps
Thanks so much for the prompt reply! Heading to straddie on Sunday and haven’t cleaned out tanks since the dealership filled them 6 weeks ago. And we keep getting sick when we go out in the van 🤣 someone suggested we need to clean our tanks last week on our last trip.
Are they the same tablets you were flogging 4 years ago? Wouldn't want to mislead people.
Flogging? We don’t sell em mate, just good info for other travelers
Yeah I have used that camel tank cleaner, pretty good.
Good to know!

Fair enough, keep up the vids are we getting some good fishing/catch and cook vids soon? keen as

Catch something 🤙😂
@@TripInAVan haha legends. Love you're work guys top stuff
Never seen a tank filled from the bottom, but obviously works when plenty tap pressure

pro tip #37. Add a bag of $2 ice from the servo at the stop before your grey water tank / toilet empty. It sloshes around and grinds the muck off the tank walls...
Which servo has $2 ice?
An American Tablespoon is 15grams (Or 3 Australian teaspoons) but an Australian Tablespoon is 20grams (Or 4 Australian teaspoons)
why didn't you use fresh water hose rather than garden hose which makes the water taste like plastic maybe u need to look at that my friend happy day's
Yeah I should have hey. Was a spur of the moment idea and all I had was that hose 😀
🕶🤙
noice
Hi very helpful.
Just ordered some.
Could you recommend a water filter? There is too many to choose from!!
Thanks 😊
🦘👍🦋🙏💰🎈
Same time to fill you just don't have to keep moving the hose
Yep, just chill out and make a coffee
