Looks like it's time to do this job on my 2011 RAV, she just started making the infamous whine today.

Tips for 2AZ-FE engine variant. Remove coolant reservoir. 2AZ-FE engine is different with a 19mm tensioner and further back underneath and the bottom alternator bolt is 12mm. Belt is difficult and took many attempts to get back on. Long screwdriver helps to guide it onto the smooth (non ribbed) pulley below alternator. Some people remove the engine mount for better access.

Great video thanks! One lesson to learn is never put an AutoZone alternator on a Toyota or Honda. They always cause problems. Only use a Denso unit.

@@BloominOnion1 easy peasy, one of the easiest repairs Ive done. Getting the belt off and on was the hardest part.

I just did it myself, yesterday. Wasn't bad. For me the hardest part was getting that lower bolt to take, putting the alternator back in. Otherwise, A-Ok!@@ifonlyone6011

I just had my alternator replaced yesterday, but it’s making a really loud whining noise. I thought that it would get better as the alternator charged and the battery charged, but it’s not something wrong with the alternator.

Is that voltage mentioned in the beginning while the car is running or while it's off and "cold".

I only had trouble with putting on the belt and taking off the belt. If you are having trouble putting the belt back on make sure that the belt is only touches the things in the diagram. I had it caught on something extra and it was impossible to put on.

    Is the idle relearning necessary?

I have the same car and same year. I don’t think my belt tensioner has that bolt like that car.
