When you ran out of logs at around the 37 min mark and checked what your workers were doing, they had a little solder icon next to their name and waiting. Perhaps it could be clearer when workers are on duty in the militia :) Edit , I just watched a bit further and you figured it out ;)
Indeed, it would be cooler to have a notification when you rally the militia to see what production is going to be slowed/halted or even better if you could choose which type of production to prioritize less when rallying militia. I guess that's where mercenaries are so much better early game, you actually gave me an idea to test out something. :D Thank you!
I have grown fond of the single family plots, you get more production per family with the extensions. Always double on veggie and apple tho. Also like double on brewery.
It doesn't matter that much if you're not min-maxing, for me what I know is that double burgage plots consume as much as the single ones so for me reducing consumption was the priority as production isn't that important since most of the food is imported.
@papafranklive yeah it's an interesting trade off, I did all double plots at first, but after the trade nerfs I started using some singles too. If you can just trade yeah you are right I think with the double plots. I feel like they will try and push the game toward in house production more but idk, time will tell... maybe singles will make a comeback... lol
Trade perk used to be must, now it just saves you money one time and you make that amount up so quickly it doesn't seem worth taking it. Idk its tempting but with iron need the deep mine and all three armory slots and i like an extra food like apples or honey. That is all 6 right there. Its good to sell all the iron products for sure.
Let me put it this way: trade perk helps with the costs of every trade route you buy, an apple orchard is just one source of food - question being: Is it worth using up an entire development point to get access to apples as a source of food? (for me it isn't, but if you feel like you want to make that part of your gameplay, don't feel forced to do as I did - after all gameplay is about having fun, not necessarily min-maxing everything -> like you said, it won't break your game if you don't take that perk) The same goes for honey too, but at this level I'd rather go for the apple orchard cause that way at least you unlock rye, for which the wax is even less useful as a development. Here you need to take into account what it unlocks - is what I mean. Honey unlocks Wax which is useless atm, whereas Charcoal burning unlocks deep mines - deep mines being an infinite source of income which isn't affected by land fertility and it doesn't just give you yields in September (a small joke here, sry) - But overall just play as you wish, no need to min-max that much! Also, thank you for watching so closely and following along!
@papafranklive different difficulties call for different starts. If it rains is it important to protect your supplies first? I am always worried bout that 😕
Well you should have store houses and granaries (at least 1 of each) but usually stocks don't go bad that fast, so if they're exposed a bit the worst your stone could get is a heat stroke.😂
Do a tutorial on the mercenaries achievement on challenging difficulty. It says you can only use mercs to win. I always run out of mercs by the time i can afford to hire them in year 4. How do you cheese it with challenging settings? Maybe it can't be done on challenging...?
From what I know those are two separate achievements so you don't have to do them together, and I haven't tested this but I am almost sure that achievements are turned off if you don't play the released version - as of currently I am on the latest beta test patch and I'm unable to do that. Also, I know this doesn't answer your question directly, but a lot of things like mercenaries included are broken at the moment so you might want to wait for a more balanced patch to try and do both at the same time.

Hey mate. What starting settings did you do? Is this just building the town, or battles as well?
The start was Restoring the Peace on the default settings. Both bandits and the enemy baron were present.

@papafranklive lol yeah it's only the bread that I was worried about, seems a lot to build granary for 20 bread tho
