- The long daylight hours and melting snow signify spring break up in Alaska. We tend to the flock, transplant seedlings in the high tunnel and happily welcome the change of season by falling a dead spruce tree for a relaxing campfire and home cooked meal.

thought for a minute the fish tasted like "crap". i really love this channel. no hype. just a likable couple going about their lives maintaining their essentials off grid. no gimmicks. no leggings ass shots. no crazy projects. Eric and Arielle are basically trying to somehow hoard food most of the time.
This is exactly why TH-cam content creators should ditch clickbait and just deliver quality content - wow.

This is why you have 2 videos and 3 subscribers on your channel.... you have such a grip on what the general public wants to watch?!. Not everybody is like you or shares your same viewing pleasures..... If you don't like the content and think you can do better, then do it and keep to yourself.

I teared up watching this video, it has to be one of my favorite, To see that it is possible that someone is living life how it should be makes me happy.
This channel has brought me so much peace and I can't help but look back at where I was just a few months ago prior to finding your channel - I hated my life, I felt sucked living in a rural cottage that my mom left me, I was so unhappy and ashamed but everything when I found this channel .Truly, nothing is without purpose .🌱☀️

If you guys made a cookbook with the recipes of stuff you make on the show, like the eggs benedict one, I would buy it. Even for the meals where you use special ingredients like moose meat, the cook could substitute whatever they have access to.

@@thecarlob_007 I'm really hoping they try a Crab cake recipe. But any recipe that uses crab as an ingredient will work (must be cooked). They can get several more ''crops' out of the kit so....we'll see what they do!
@@SimpleLivingAlaska Don't forget...you can just place the tent over the kit, water on the plate, and wait for another 7-10 days and another mushroom will start to grow. Enjoy!!!!

I know I say this over and over but yours is the best channel I watch. Photography is outstanding, your cooking is beyond gourmet, watching your “day in the life” content satisfies my need for adventure. I could say much more....but you get the idea.
You two are so damn creative with your food prep. Everything you make looks delicious. And you make it seem effortless even though you do everything from scratch. Your channel could just as easily be about "gourmet back to basics" cooking as it is about life in Alaska generally.

Bandit's excitement when waiting for his dinner was like I was as a kid on christmas eve. Have you considered sowing some bags of wildflower seeds in the meadow for the bees? In the UK we can buy a 1Kg bag of mixed wild flower seeds for about £30 (equivalent to $40), 1g is about 1000 seeds so that is around a million seeds, so even if many get eaten by rodents there should be enough to take hold and self propagate over time.
You guys rule. Your channel is better than anything on TV.

Just want to share a great HACK for easy peeling hard boiled eggs. ( For your next egg pickling project) put the boiled egg in a small jar with lid on. Shake till the shell is all shattered. Take it out and easily remove the shell. Have fun!

My seed planting rules: Use larger 6-pack cells to avoid root bound plants, avoid transplanting and disturbing roots. Plant two seeds in each cell to avoid empty cells; one new seed and one old seed in each cell to use up the old seeds; and later, use scissors to cut away the weaker plant. Two years for most seeds and 3 years for a few seeds like cabbage, broccoli, etc.

I think that would be an interesting video because I always get a bit taken aback when I see Eric with his gun, until I remember him talking about it being a safety from wild animals thing and that they basically live in the bush
A side arms discussion, or any discussions of weapons would get them demonitized quickly. AKA no gun talk.

I just discovered your show and I am absolutely loving it ! We passed up our chance at a life in Alaska my Son in-law is a teacher an had a position at Glen Alan , my daughter she wouldn’t go so , anyway everything happens for a reason and so now I sit here and live vicariously through you both I am 73 years young now so it’s definitely past my adventures days, but I was on a cruise ship to Alaska so at least I saw part of her.

Next time with your lions mane mushrooms, fry it in your moose tallow! It loves to absorb fat for flavour and if you get it caramelized and golden brown it has lots of flavour
Get some 50 gallon drums and paint them black and fill them with water. They'll heat up during the day and help keep your green house warm at night.

i make ALOT of pickled eggs every year, a tip i can give you is, if you want the egg to flavor quicker and better. take a toothpick and poke at least 2 holes on the egg about half way through on opposite ends. makes a HUGE difference.

Grear opening!!! That high tunnel is looking good! Eric, you are a pro at taking down trees. My son has a lot of Spruce that died from the Spruce Beetles. He gets about half of his firewood from them, the other half from the Birch trees. His band even has a funny song about the Spruce Beetles. It is sad to see the decimation. The bees look soooo happy! I just booked our Alaska Trip for the first two weeks of September! Because they extended the fair this year it will be our first time to go there. I am beyond excited about coming back to Talkeetna and Alaska in general. *I love it more and more with every visit This will be my 4th visit. That flat bread looks great! I don't eat eggs, so while yours look beautiful and fun to eat, not for me. The sausage and mushroom look amazing. What fun sandwiches! I have been growing mustard sprouts, they are delicious too.

I was in a very deep sleep around 12:15 AM Wednesday morning and I always have TH-cam playing while I sleep 💤! I heard Eric and Ariel speaking and I woke right up! I so love your videos and even subconsciously know when you come on! Thank you so much!
