    The British may have a smaller military nowerdays, but what they have man for man is some of the best trained soldiers in the world, I always see many American marines and soldiers praising how good and effective the British are. And they have some of the best weapons in the world I think they are ranked 7th in the world which is amazing considering how small the numbers are but as for lasers, submarines and many other things they are in line with the Americans. And are great allies they train together go to battle together and help each other out. That's what it's all about, The British SAS and SBS are the pioneers of elite and secretive special forces along with the SEALS and DELTA force. And there intelligence the MI5 and MI6 and probably have a more secret MI7, is on par with the NSA, CIA and DOD of the Americans. Brothers in arms :)

      No evidence indicates that the British soldiers unit for unit are better then any other country, you literally just made that up. Also, Germany will be surpassing the UK by the end of this decade, meaning the UK will be 9-10th strongest in the world. Secondly, the technology Britain uses is not on par with America which is why China never copies Britain’s technology. And lastly, the MI5 and MI6 are in no way as powerful as the FBI and CIA, that has to be some kind of joke, the NSA and DOD and CIA all have way more resources and global power.

      @@BenMiller739 Ok my friend you obviously no more than me. Even though it's well known throughout the top militaries how good the British are to this day, also I'm American myself and have family members that are currently in the military and older relative's that served years ago. And yes of course it's well known that the US has far more resources and reach than anyone in the world. The British and Americans share and use each other to gather information. And yes it's about time that Germany stepped up they should be in the top 5 militaries in the world already but have been far to passive. I will be happy to see Germany the most powerful nation in Europe rise up and create a strong European military that will help strengthen NATO.
      And as for China they copy anyone and everyone that they can including the Russians even though much of there equipment is at least 20years behind America.
      In fact considering China have a population of 1.3billion it amazes me that they rarely have any inventions and most not all of what they copy turns out to be a far poorer version.

The Russians played a huge part in WW2 and so did the Americans. Britain lost everything and truth be told , even France came out of WW2 with more of an Empire intact. It was a disaster for Britain. Please don’t take my word for it because Churchill says it better than me. Wars that built the British Empire destroyed the British Empire. This is what happens to all Empires. I just hope our government continues to invest while they can, it costs less to maintain and operate the equipment after it’s been bought, and is better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it.
    my personal hope is that the raf does expand to having up to 120 of those tempest fighters, with potentially another aircraft supplementing them on a 1:1 basis.
    For the navy I hope they continue to build more ships, costly sure, but considering how long it takes to build and how effective they are when actually around, it’d be better to just invest. Build 8 initial type 26 w potential for another batch of maybe 2-4 alongside the really cheap but seemingly promising type 31’s.
    army I just hope they become less strict w their selection process and build an active force that’s more than 100k at least, w decent armour and ifv support etc

Each Laser shot on incoming drones missiles and Aircraft costs roughly £10 instead of Hundreds of thousands of pounds for missiles to hit those targets ..the other benefit is no extra missiles will need to be carried on deployment othet than the standard amount and 3rd there is no extra risk in having extra stored missiles onboard....

    Does the UK have the same issue of inflated expenses and cost overrun that the United States Industrial complex seems to have? Leaching our economy dry. It is not that we do not spend enough on our Military. It is though we do not get our money's worth for what our Military really needs. Ford Class CVN, the F-35, and the various failed Destroyer programs. Perhaps we should work together in a restructured alliance to replace NATO. I don't hear the British complaining about there defence spending level.

    • @Scaleyback317
      @Scaleyback317 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, those of us with a view we need to be able to punch our weight defensively have grave concerns about defence spend levels and the amount of wasted in the procurement system.
      There is all growing disquiet in our dealings with the US for defence purposes. Is the US a reliable defence partner - nope! Will the US administration throw UK (and/or Europe) under the bus the moment it suits their purpose - Yep!
      The unholy mess caused by the sociopath AKA Orangeutang at a time crucial for the survival of a European democracy (Ukraine) should be a message to all Europeans - no matter the cost, Europe must take care of Europe and buy European equipment which needs no permissions/strings attached from US corporate needs or Governmental interferences.
      We should treat the US armed forces as a friend and made to feel welcome if they turn up but always, always, always have another option to fill those gaps the US will leave when their (excellent and well maintained and trained) forces do an about turn because of the sort of politican infighting bullshit which has so damaged poor little Ukraine. We must never again put any sort of reliance on the USA here in Europe. For a decade or two it will seem insurmountable we can replace what the US has (theoretically at least) brought to NATO but replace them we must. Better to have no friend than a friend which cannot be trusted.
      BTW - I am not anti-American. Quite the opposite. My wife is American (Ex-USAF) so half of my family is American and lives there. I am merely a pragmatist and thus am absolutely distrustful of any US governmental decision to assist, support any situation my country is likely to find themselves in, the moment it proves to be no longer profitable or helpful to the US.

The Brits retook the falklands, 8000 miles away,, against a bigger force in it's backyard. Vulcan bombers successfully tested and beat US air defence in the 60's, TWICE. He will either win or he will lose. If he wins he will either remain or go solo. Who cares? There will be a huge gap in the NATO defence shield to fill but Europe can and must continue to strengthen as if the US is no longer there. That they can and have played such horrendous games with Ukraine and by association the security of Europe with their political infighting bullshit has amply demonstrated we should merely treat them as a welcome friend if they turn up and continue to act as though they are no longer interested. Either way NATO will continue no matter what it may be called in the future. Put your hand in a bucket of sand, withdraw it, how long did the ripples last?
      European defence is in the hands of Europe not the US - they can no longer be trusted and WILL throw Europe under the bus if it suits their purpose. It's taken a sociopathic madman like the Orangeutang to make Europe wake up to the fact we CANNOT and SHOULD NOT put our faith in anyone other than Europe to defend Europe.

      They can be bought off the shelf from a great many smaller producers. Watch what comes from the Ukrainian drone factories about a year from now - I'm guessing they will head the world in cheap drone manufacturing. There is one British drone which is still in development however, started its life as a Turkish design. Not sure if it will ever be accepted into service or even pushed for mass production but there was a lot of noise about 18 months ago about it and it's gone quiet since. I think it was being called Jackal but I might be mixing that up with something else.

      The Royal Navy has its orders and its responsibilities issued to it through the government. If the government does not task the RN then the RN will not be in a position to have an affect one way or the other.
      That's what the Border Force is for - if you don't like the way they are being employed (and I most certainly do not either) then your avenue of complaint should be through them or through you local MP.
      The Royal Navy and RAF joint operations offer the protection they are tasked with which is why there are no bad actors causing us harm/damage.

    • @jchendrix
      @jchendrix ปีที่แล้ว

      @Kermit Idiothunter If you re read my last comment I did not say third world countries I said under developed countries. I consider Saudi Arabia an under developed nation as even though it is a very wealthy country it's laws on equality and the treatment of women are very archaic.
      To answer your first question there were 2.5 billion journeys on public transport made in the UK last year so I would say that millions of people rely on it regularly. I agree with you that the standards on busses, metros, trains and even public roads are substandard in Britain and so is the service by many of the drivers and transport staff. But let’s be completely honest they are over worked and underpaid as are many of the sectors in the UK. This is the governments fault as they continually mismanage the country and undermine its natural resources to the extent of negligence. For example the Prime minister has declared today that he will make it mandatory for people in England to study math until the age of 18 years old, this is unenforceable as the education systems curriculum in England can only instruct mandatory learning until the age of 16 years old. This shows the incompetence from the government and the prime minister from a high level. This lesson is £1.50 as mentioned before I will be charging, I hope that you had an enjoyable evening. @@Scaleyback317 Who said anything about British connection with India? India neither wants nor needs British vote of confidence on India's weapons industry. Only somebody totally clueless would believe that arms purchases are about buying the best quality, we all know how geopolitics is more important. UK is too deep into US orbit to even consider buying from India.
      As for being a "trusted player," again, India is not looking to be some sort of a "trusted player" of the West. Because by default that involves bending over backwards to placate the Americans. And India has already refused that offer multiple times. India stands alone. We are not averse to collaborations with the West or alignment on common interests (like containing China), but that can not and will not come at the cost of India's sovereign authority.
      Reason I pointed out that list is because Western arms have for long been considered the "top of the line" in India. And the fact that India's own technology is catching up and even surpassing the technology of its colonizers in some areas is a deeply reassuring and satisfying fact for Indians: tells us that we are on the right track and that our dreams of being a truly independent nation are slowly coming true. At the same time, it also reminds us that a ship load of work still remains for us to be able to close that gap in technologies such as submarines, jet engines, etc.

The HAL AMCA Mk2 is a fifth gen fighter and tempest will be a 6-th gen fighter. The problem with using scamjets to get over mach 5 is that communicating with the missile becomes almost impossible (due to plasma generated), its not manuverable due to its high speed and its not stealth because of its high heat signature.

This is the problem india has, they need to spend alot on their big army because they aren't really at peacetime at the moment so less money can be spent on R&D. • @death_parade
      @death_parade ปีที่แล้ว

      @@siisaac9951 Your assertions are garbage. Let me explain why:-
      1.) _"Indians use cheap materials"_
      What basis do you have for this assertion? I take this accusation very seriously because this is my professional area of expertise. Judging by your comment you are absolutely clueless about Indian materials. Do you know what steel is used for Indian submarines? It is DMR292A, a special grade developed in India and now manufactured at Rourkela, India. It has a yield strength of between 700 and 1000 MPa. This is in the same class as the HY-100 and HY-130 steels (690 and 900 MPa respectively) that started being used in the American Nuclear Submarines relatively recently from the Seawolf class onwards. Meanwhile, where is UK? It does make superior submarines but the steel for them is not even made in the UK (as per Viscount Younger of Leckie who asked this question in the House of Commons at 2:30 pm on 30 November 2021).
      Let me give you another example: The Low-Nickel High-Nitrogen Steel used in manufacturing of the hull of the Arjun Mk1A tank has superior ballistic performance and lower weight compared to the RHA steel on Challenger 2 tank. (Even though I agree that the Arjun Mk1A is inferior to the Challenger 2, the aforementioned fact on materials remains true i.e. Indian material used is better).
      Just because one entity (OFB) in entire Indian military industry has had the history of shoddy manufacturing does not mean entire Indian manufacturing sector is like that.
      2.) _"Indian military still uses vast amounts of WW2 weaponry"_ .
      One can argue that slow modernization has led to large quantities of almost obsolete equipment, to call it WW2 equipment is patently false.
      The only three pieces of WW2 equipment Indian Army still uses are: Sterling Carbine, Bren LMG and Browning M2. Apart from these absolutely NO piece of equipment is of WW2 vintage. I dare you to name a SINGLE such weapon other than ones I listed.
      Now Sterling and Bren are being withdrawn but Browning M2 is timeless, even the Americans use that WW1 vintage.
      3.) _"Look at UK military budget and Indian military budget"_ .
      Ok, let us do that:-
      Indian Military budget: $76.6 Billion
      UK Military budget: $68.4 Billion
      ^Figures for 2021 from SPIRI 2022 report.
      Indian Military Capital Expenditure (2023): $20 Billion
      UK Military Capital Expenditure (2021): $17.7 Billion
      ^Sources are respective govt. budget documents.
      Largely comparable figures. But I know your assertion is that Indian military is so much larger, right? So Indian military gets less bang for buck, right? WRONG!
      Example:-
      Cost of 500 km of High Speed Rail in both nations being constructed at roughly the same timeframe:-
      HS2 (UK): $100-140 Billion
      Mumbai Shinkansen (India): $21 Billion
      Why such a massive difference? Because you were comparing nominal figures like a m0r0n instead of accounting for cost of living, etc as done by PPP figures. Everything costs more in UK. And their procurement is just as wasteful (Ajax anyone?).
      *Get out of your pathetic inferiority complex.* I am not saying that UK has no advantages or no things where we can learn lessons from them. But to worship them because of your own inferiority complex to the point that you level such baseless accusations as "poor material" on Indian weapons is simply pathetic and factually wrong.

      India is advancing fast but still far behind in developing their own weapons. Mainly aircraft, the only jet India has ever built is the HAL tejas which rely on a cheap American engine and wouldn't pose any threat to most other fighter jets around the world, even chinese ones.
      India does excel over the UK is some areas such as their space program, but when it comes to building and designing airctaftcarriers, submarines and aircraft the UK still exceed India
