I appreciate being taken along with you on your woodsy adventures. I can't hike anymore but really enjoy going out in the woods again. P.S. the tunnel at Paddy Mountain has really changed. In 2015 the State made it more accessible. Before that the bridge end had a big culvert pipe cemented in place due to crumbling, but the rest of the tunnel was like a cave, including the other end which had no finishing stone work. Two things I was thinking when I watched this video. 1) He needs a respirator or at least one of those painter's masks to block some of the dust in these places cuz I saw a LOT of dust floating in front of the light. AND 2) He could definitely use some sort of method of keeping track where he's been and a way to find his way back. When he said "I think this is the way out" I was like uh oh he got lost in the cave. Mind you another thing I was thinking was, what if either another person or a wild animal decided to make this place their home. That's why I'd also suggest carrying something for defense when exploring places like this because you just never know. Still a cool video of a place I'd probably be too chicken to go into myself.
The New York Tunnel Quarry was opened in 1848. The quarry closed in the 1890's. A mattress factory was built in front of the cave. The factory burned in 1923, and the exposed quarry was called the "Bedbug" cave in reference to the mattress factory. From the Bed Bug Cave Facebook
I can’t understand why we don’t have more limestone caves here in southern Somerset Co . I’ve always been fascinated by old mines and caves. Love your videos .your the greatest bedbug!
Probably because there's no limestone haha. Not a lot anyway. I'm not sure but I live in Central NY and it's all shale, slate, and granite. Pretty sure PA is pretty similar in most areas
I live two minutes away from there, me and my friends go into the cave pretty often. If you go all the way to the end there’s a peaceful lake where the cave opens up with balloons floating on the top from a party that was held down there years ago. It’s a cool spot to hangout but I wouldn’t advise on going down there alone.
This was amazing and scary. I hope you had a back up flashlight because I was getting the heebee geebees watching you, thinking OMG what if the batteries die and you can't see your way out. I know you made it out because it is 3 years later! When I saw the title "Bed Bug Cave", I thought...mattress, and ...there were some springs. Good one..thanks.
We dive in the water. That's about 10 12 feet deep at the back. Also you need at least 2 spotlights to really see anything. Been out there with an inflatable boat as a preliminary to diving. Also you should never go in that cave without a breathing mask. Next time you go in just message this same screen name on Instagram. You can have 2 Certified Divers with you. I love going there.
Cliff says he's afraid of heights and I am afraid of caves and tight spaces. Caving looks dangerous and claustrophobic. Give me a plane over that anytime. Lets all hope he stays safe.
I started to feel some suspense as you started to go deeper thinking I hope he makes his way back out of there. but that's a way cool discovery. perhaps there is a box of treasure and gold underneath those stacks of slate LOL
I live in that neighborhood. I’ve always wondered what it looked like in there. If you’re into geocaching, there is one down there. I do not believe it’s active anymore though.
theres a bug called a Bat Bug...nearly identical to a Bed Bug but associated with bats....I could imagine there could have been bats living in the cave and upon discovery people found what they believed to be a cave full of bed bugs....but really they may have actually been Bat Bugs. I'm saying this because I'm pest controller not just making stuff up.

why do people think that spray painting everything is cool why not leave it the way the miners left it
Because it's paint in a Cave. Modern Cave Drawing. It'll fade away in time.

Have you ever seen blind fish in any of the caves or caverns you've been in? There are some in Linville Caverns in NC.
Been there many a time. Never vandalized the place just partied in my younger years 😂 there used to be another exit but they collapsed it
