The shame is 99% of all new bowhunters never heard of him or his brother, along with all the other greats, Howard Hill, Roger Rothar, Chuck Adams, Fred Eichler, and there are so many others who have left us with so much knowledge on bowhunting, not just whitetails, elk, moose and bear but so many other species. I hope they are never forgotten.
I just don't understand why he's not telling the truth... A simple Google search will tell you the biggest deer in North America that was harvested in 1976 was from a guy in Michigan and it scored 238 and some change... Is he confused ,or Just making some of this up !!!
I agree its a shame. I often say I was lucky to grow up in an era with influences like Gene and Barry and Paul Brunner etc. Unfortunately too many wont understand how much knowledge this man has to offer.
I'm 62, I was a senior in high-school when Gene wrote that book. My mom bought it for me for Xmas. I learned a lot from that book. I retired in April, and Im Divorced, therefore I will hunt 4 months straight this year in multiple states. No wife or job to interfere with it. 😊
Met Barry and Gene at a show in Kalamazoo Michigan. Great guys! Full of knowledge! They were both kind enough to put their autographs on my 90th anniversary Bear Grizzly recurve.
I remember calling Roger Rothaar directly and ordering those original Rothaar Snuffers. I also remember calling Paul Bruner to ordera Screaming Eagle Tree Stand. That was the first factory built tree stand I had ever seen. This would have been in the early 80s
Imagine if every hunter expressed the same vigilance as the deer they are hunting like Barry. Its life or death for the deer and his hunting style respects that. Thinking that way and acting on it kills big bucks. Notice the subtle hints and cues. Collect the experiences over time. I have never grown or hunted over a "kill plot" from a "killing tree". I enjoy the woodsmanship aspects of hunting. Thank you Barry!
What a great interview. You let the Master talk. Not once did I hear your egos interfere, one of the best shows I have watched on TH-cam. I have that first book that gene and Berry put out. I have read it so many times it is like an old friend. Thank you Berry for taking me back to those early days of Whitetail hunting. Most of the good bucks I have taken were from something I had picked up from your books.
I’m a very experienced hunter and has had a lot of success through hard work and years of learning ,you’re never too old to learn new tricks and no matter how smart you think you are the animals that you’re pursuing have to adapt to the years of hunting pressure and predators. I could listen to these guys all day there’s a huge difference between an experience, hunter and a hunter that has had good success by chance meaning by getting lucky It’s easy to listen to Wiseman tell you stories and facts, other than listening to someone that brags about their success
Awesome interview, I could have listened to Barry tell stories for hours. That's the type of guy I like being in hunting camps with, and the Wensel Woodsman was one hell of a broadhead.
Bowhunting Rutting Whitetails. I purchased it very soon after it was released, in fact I sent my heartfelt endorsement to Gene and he use my endorsement in his ads after I sent it. The only problem was he said I was from MI when in fact I from MN. Let him know years later when he was in Mankato MN doing a show.😉
I remember back in the late 70's, I attended a small group seminar with Roger Rothar after he had developed the Snuffer. He made a profound statement that now seems obvious but at that time, guys in the audience laughed at him! He asked, how do you kill a "Big Buck"? No one could answer it so he answered it. "Don't shoot anything but a Big Buck"!
That's right guys ,there is more to hunting than hanging cameras and starring at you phone all week.. I am with him on hunting them in there natural environment ..To many hunt food plots and bait and they dont hone the woodmanship skills which hunters had back in tbe day..
My WIFE was HEARING This PODCAST and SAID Just HEARING SOME OF It SAID. he SOUNDS Like you. I Guess It Is the FACT that when you remember what you READ
Barry and Gene are the best whitetail bowhunters. Period.

Fred is far from being those guys.
He is ao full of it and don't mean Fred bear.

I could listen to him for ever! What a wealth of knowledge. Just amazing!😊
I could listen to him talk for hours on end.
Hearing him talk about him and Rothaar sharing their ideas on a cassette and recording on top of each other was gold !

The late Ben Lee was a legend in bowhunting also.
I miss hearing him talk about big whitetails too.
I've been fortunate to hunt with Barry several times and it doesn't get any better. 👍🏼🏹🦌🐻🦃🐗💯🇺🇸
I bought his book last year. Great insight and vast reminders on hunting mature bucks

Love watching your videos man. You're super humble and honest and it makes your videos a pleasure to watch
I got to meet Gene at a show in Butler, PA 1979. I bought that book for 20 dollars back then.
Primal Dreams is the best ever. i've watched it about 40 times.

Berry and Gene are Legends
Woody will always be a legendary whitetail.
The GOAT of bowhunting whitetails.

Love listening to folks like him. Woodsman ship is DEAD with todays deer hunters.
Bring back more whitetail cribs please!!
I still have the book and screaming eagle merchandise. I'm old too

Is exodus going out of business? Been waiting on warranty/support for over 2 weeks and nobody will respond to answer a call/voicemail
This pod cast is a "good type a thing"
I have is book the best book I have bought .!!!!!!!!!!!
Freakin awesome, man! I can relate!
Really enjoyed this one!!
Unlike Eberhard, this man is a living legend
Best book
Barry didn’t elaborate when asked about his sideways hat. I asked him at a show back in the 80s and he said to clear his bow string.
I have the VHS tape of him shooting that buck in the thumbnail, he shot it with a recurve while it was running I'm pretty sure
I saw him set up about 1988 Missouri big bucks convention Columbia mo
Awesome video… Love listening to stories from that generation of hunters!!!
Take a shot every time Barry says “type of thing”
How old is this recording?
Oh heck yea.

I don't know how we all live in Ohio but if a never met each other be never hunted together we got to change that this year boys
Don't educate the deer. And make them smarter than you. The less they know about your time in the woods the better.
take a shot everytime you hear “you know”
Who's the guy that would wear the cowboy hat and hankerchief, with leather gloves while rattling in bucks. Is this him?
Noel Feather maybe?
Larry Weishuhn
@@matthewmargrabe8749
Yup, watched Larry a lot in late 90s and early 00s. Famous for the rattling and TC Contender
No that's Larry Wishuon
Don't know if that's correct spelling on his last name but you get my point
Larry weishuhn in Texas. I used to go to my paw paws in the mornings on the weekends and watch his hunting show with my paw paw. Good times
