Hey galaxy gang! Today I am sharing with you the HIGHLY requested swatches for the Holo Taco Holoday Collection! If you haven't heard of Holo Taco, it is the brand of holographic nail polishes made by Cristine of Simply Nailogical! One glossy taco has less chemicals - I believe it’s 5 free. Super glossy taco is fast dry and more of a standard glossy top coat.
Yeah, glossy taco is a regular topcoat and it's 5 free, super glossy is thicker and a quick dry topcoat
The super glossy one has Toluol in it. Please be careful with this ingredient!!
I own both top coats and they are both quick dry! Super glossy is just more glossy and longer lasting in my opinion.
Zoya and Cirque are 10 free if you're worried about chemicals and they are amazing brands that have been tried and true

I got the peel off basecoat as soon as she announced it, and for me it stays on really well for a solid day. It can go longer, but I do a lot of typing and crafts with my hands, so I usually have one pop off after the first day. I don't mind that though, and usually just repaint that nail. Definitely satisfying!
If one pops off early & you find it before it becomes crunchy, you can reapply it over fresh peel off base & it works perfectly❣️ Halo Taco is the ONLY peel off base that I’ve been able to do this with because the prelims are is one complete piece.

Mine usually pop off after a day or if I take a really long shower, but if you don’t cover your nail edge to edge with peely base, it can last a whole week. Love the stuff! 😍
I try and make sure to seal the edges of peel base coats with polish to minimize popping. Also, if one pops off I can use any nail polish (not just the base coat again) to stick it back on. Also, I try not to use peel-off basecoat on my pointer fingers and thumbs since i use those fingers most often and the polish tends to chip/peel away pretty easily on those 2 fingers anyway.
Please do a comparison of the “Glossy Taco” and the “Super Glossy Taco.” :-)

Yessss. I don’t understand why there’s two lol
Anji Reed super glossy is not 5-free and you can tell-it smells like toxic industrial chemicals lol. But that’s how I prefer it, because it dries SO hard and solid, very quickly. Seche Vite is basically a dupe.

I feel like, collectively, we are all interested in watching you do wear tests/comparisons. I find they incredibly helpful as a short nailed person. It's also great to know that I most of these are actually opaque in two coats for the shorter nails. I already bought the collection and I am waiting on it (no singles though because I'm not made of money) but the opacity was a concern of mine.
Having used both the glossy and the super glossy, I find that the difference isn't in look but more in durability/wear time. Maybe it is because Super Glossy Taco isn't 5-free but it lasts A LOT longer
I'll definitely do a wear test of both top coats to see how it goes for me!
As someone who has a job that is hard on her nails, a wear test of the peel off base coat would be highly regarded! The ones I've used in the past have just popped right off my nail halfway through the first day of wear!
I actually found you when Cristine posted your first swatch video of Holo Taco on Twitter. I fell in love with your videos, especially your swatch and reviews. They are so relaxing and informative. Also , who would have guessed a Jersey accent could be so calming?
LOL that cracked me up. I'm so glad you found me! And I'm glad my jersey accent is soft enough to still be relaxing hahah I think I honestly tone it down a tiny bit for videos because our accent is a bit grating

I just put on the Play rose and its GORGEOUS. You really dont realize how little rainbow holo are in other polishes until you try Holo Taco

This collection launched on my birthday! I bought everything as a gift to myself. 😅 I think my favorite is Midnight Spark, but the Rainbow Snow is a very close second. I was surprised at how well the polish peeled off even though it wasn't completely dry.

Frost light is the one that has caught my eye the most, even though I normally gravitate towards brighter/bolder colours. The silver too is so blingy!

i would LOVE to see a comparison of regular glossy taco vs super glossy taco. I know the diff is in the chemicals, but if there wasn't a visible difference, why sell both?
Cristine said the super glossy (non 5-free) has a quicker dry time, but I haven't seen comparison videos yet. I personally use out the door because that's quickest for my nails and you could get 2 for the price of one of Cristine's
I have seen a review by another TH-camr, I think her name was Guylene 325 (Edit: checked it, that's her name), and she compared both glossy and super glossy with one another. Based on her review I would prefer super glossy, as it performed better, but it's not available for me T.T (not that I have the money anyway :D)

also the super glossy taco isn't available in all countries (like germany) because of some ingediens rules here. but the super glossy taco looks really thicc like glass.

The rose gold is my favorite! You'll love it.
I got my rose-gold in the mail, along with the peely basecoat and one of the topcoats (I forget which one!) and they are wearing really well! I applied Sunday and very minimal wear is showing even with me not being a tip-wrapper. I was worried about the peely basecoat but it is staying on like a champ! Excited for the weekend to switch it up and see how easy it comes off. :)
Ahhh! I love this collection. I only got 2 but I have a smoothing base on the way and the Super Glossy Taco. Already have the Glossy Taco and it's currently my go-to Taco. Would love to see a wear test on the Peely Base - Cristine's seem to last 5-ever and pop off perfectly (mine never do that).
Side note: Currently wearing Deep Space! So dark. My inner goth girl loves it.
Haha in my experience peel off base doesn't last more than a day but I'll give it a try!
@@KelliMarissa my record is 18 hours with peel off base coat. Lol. And that was following all the advice in her "how to use peel off base coat" video. Much more common is 4-6 hours. Lol

yeet my waffles no problem, I was just checking so I didn’t misunderstand you! I’m British, so secular is a word used much more often. Which is ironic because religious education is still a state mandated subject in British schools and, I think, they still sing hymns at least once a week! Granted, these days the education part covers all religions, but I suspect it still concentrates somewhat more heavily on Church of England. I was born into an atheist family, so I’ve always had an interest in religion, but personally never any kind of spiritual interest of any kind, though my parents left it totally up to me. The sheer number of options left me feeling... how can they all be right, even, how can any of them be right? :)
Jay Bee well Christianity is kinda part of British culture. But if brits are complaining about Christianity in Britain than they have very little real life problems then.

I’d love to see the video comparing the two top coats!! I was so waiting for someone to review these since I ordered them but I have questions. I’m always afraid with my short nails that these kinds of polish are going to end up thick and gloopy and when it’s too thick it chips and peels easily from my nails......
But yeah I have the super glossy top coat and I love it, it’s like seche vite without the shrinkage. However that does mean it keeps getting thicker really fast so I’m adding a couple drops of thinner every time I use it :/.... I hope she comes out with refill bottles. I also don’t find the brush very easy to use with such a thick formula and for short nails. I wish it was a shorter stiffer brush. Also my brush is frayed a lot.
I would love if she had a wider flat brush for her polishes and base/top coats! But I know she has thinner nails so I guess this is her preference haha!
You can find a different brush, clean it off and use it instead

Yeah, I suppose I can and I know how to, I think the point is that a lot of the time when I pay $13 for a polish I expect a fully thought out product. I’ve paid less for something like lights lacquer and indie brands and have had no issues with their brushes. I love her formula, bottle and cap, but I hope she takes feedback about her brush not being compatible with her top coat.

I ordered the Play Rose immediately because it was too sparkly to sleep on. I'm thinking of ordering the Party Punch, but I want it to be more red than pink, would you consider it to overall be more of a red or more of a pink? :)
No one asked for my opinion lol, but I, and most people, think it's more red than pink, so I think you're good!
Mine arrived yesterday and I'm wearing Party Punch first! If you have your heart set on red you may be disappointed. I think it leans more hot pink. :) I'm fiddling with RGB codes in word....it is close to 229, 9, 88 or even 228, 6, 133
I find that it really sits down the line haha! In some light it looks hot pink and others pretty reddish.
@@KelliMarissa I used two coats and showed a handful of people.... everyone said pink. Wonder if there are two batches. 🤷♀️

Yeah, pleeease! I would love to see some tests! Like comparing nails without anything underneath, with long lasting base coat and with the peel off base coat at the same time, seeing how long they stay or how difficult is to remove.

I would like to see a wear test , but wearing polish for a week. I feel most people do a manicure once a week , not every couple of days. Thanks

I paint mine and keep them until they start to chip (usually close to the nailbed as I take wrapping the tip to the next level and just paint the underside of my nails too - I like my nails holo from all sides lol) which tends to be around the 14-18 day mark. I don't think I'd get on that well with a peel off base coat. I think it would feel like a waste since I can normally get so long out of them.

I love both top coats, but I think super glossy is my favorite. And holy moly, it is the best top coat I've ever used! 3 days of wear with no chips(and I'm always busy with my hands cleaning all the time, so that is mind blowing to me), and it stayed thick and shiny with no shrinkage. I am absolutley in love!!
