      Stephanie! I love your podcasts and think you are the GOAT!
      Will you please do one on Haleigh Cummings from Florida? Friday was 14 years still missing. She’s the one who’s 25 year old dad’s 17 year old girlfriend was babysitting and claims she just woke up and she was gone. I believe her dad recently got out of prison. They both got long prison sentences for drug charges I think in hopes of them maybe saying something. The girlfriend is still in. Nancy Grace got excited about this one for a little while. I don’t live near Florida or know her or her family but this case has just really stuck with me all these years and I feel like people have forgotten her. She looked so precious. She was only 5. It was overnight February 9-10, 2009.

    This is eerily close to my sister's death in North Carolina. My sister was bruised head to toe, brain bleed, jaw broke in two places. My mom called a welfare check and she was found laying unable to move in her own urine, feces, and blood. Her known abusive boyfriend who has a history of domestic violence against two ex wives said she "fell' due to being drunk and the police went with that narrative and closed the case. They never treated the home as a possible crime scene either. I remember the police chief said if my sister died he'd be all over the home with luminol, but he never did. I never understood why he would dare say that, like why aren't you testing things now. With the help of getting her story out there, I was able to hire a private investigator and my sister's death certificate was changed from cause of death undetermined to homicide due to assault. The case was reopened by police and they referred to the DA for possible charges. Unfortunately, this is all too common in North Carolina. I've seen too many cases where a partner gets off completely free and never charged with anything just like the scum of the earth "man" that killed my sister. I hope LeeAnn's family can get justice for her. It breaks my heart because I know all too well how this goes in that state. 😞

    • @leximari
      @leximari ปีที่แล้ว +109

      Yes, I was absolutely thinking of your sister… her case haunts me and like this case, it’s painfully obvious who is responsible. I’m so sorry I can’t recall her name but I remember Kendall Rae and Josh truly advocating for her and calling out the horrible injustice done to her and your family! I’m so sorry for your loss and I hope he suffers for the rest of his miserable life.

    • @Omni-Blast
      @Omni-Blast ปีที่แล้ว +164

      @leximari Thanks so much for your support. Her name is Melissa Platt. Kendall and Josh were insurmountable to getting her story out there and to the others that did videos, her case would never be where it's at today. I hope the private investigator LeeAnn's family hired can get to the bottom of this. The one I hired did such an amazing job, I'm still blown away by how passionate he was about uncovering the truth.

    • @Omni-Blast
      @Omni-Blast ปีที่แล้ว +199

      @StephanieHarlowe HI Stephanie. The police reopened the case under a new police chief, thank goodness, who has been very good at communicating with us. When they finished their part, they turned over to the DA who gave it to their cold case unit. There's something else I just found out about the status that stunned me that I can't share publicly yet, but I'd be happy to share with you privately.

      I can’t believe he only got 4-6 years and that he could be free is as early as NEXT YEAR? I also can’t believe that they allowed the time he had spent in jail, not prison, to count towards his “time served”.
      Even in a world where ALL he had done was put off contacting an ambulance for 4 hours, he should get more time than that! Yet it’s clear that he was also the direct cause of her need for medical attention, and eventually her death, yet all he gets is two year (maybe up to 4) in prison?!

    22:09 Hi Stephanie, medical doctor here (and big fans of yours!). I wanted to chip in and provide some clarity. Cirrhosis is a chronic degenerative process which takes years to develop, it can be due to heavy drinking but also other causes such as viral infections. A sudden lack of oxygen can cause acute liver failure, but not cirrhosis. One of the features of cirrhosis is that people get bruises and bleed more often than normal because the liver isn’t producing enough coagulation factors. In other words, if she had liver cirrhosis she would have been more prone to bleeding and she would likely have had bruises all over her body. This doesn’t obviously exclude that she could have been killed, by looking at the evidence this actually seems the more likely explanation. Keep up the good work! ❤

      When I saw the blood scenes it looked to me like it was an all night event. They may have been drinking and arguing, in the kitchen the attack happened, arguing continued throughout the house, she sat on the couch and probably threatened to call the cops, he maybe took her phone, some cleaning up was done, she moved to the bed and laid down, maybe she even put the shirt under the bed to leave evidence behind in fear, he came back after some cleaning to find her unresponsive and put her in the tub and kept cleaning. Abusive and explosive arguments (and by arguments I’m meaning yelling at the victim from the abuser) are often all over the place, ongoing, and chaotic. I just imagine (sadly) a huge spat. I think during the initial cleaning, before he checked on her in the room he called his friend, and then cooled off for a few hours while he cleaned, and then called the friend again and then the cops when he found her in the tub.

From one of your many UK fans could you please look into a a live case in the UK….A missing mum of two Nicola Bulley, its such a mystery and I would love your instinctive input…she dropped her kids at school, parked up and took her dog on a walk, sent a text to meet up later in the week with a friend, she also sent a work email and then connected to a zoom work call which was left on mute, within 20 mins or so she had vanished into thin air, her dog was found running around frantically, and the dogs harness and her mobile phone (still connected to her zoom call) were found on a bench, police immediately announced that they were not looking for a third party in her disappearance and that they thought she had fallen in the water, but the dog was dry and he liked to swim, so many have suggested that if she had fallen in the dog would have gone in after her and if she had gone in after the dog, either way the dog would have been wet and he wasn’t. There’s CCTV cameras in various places and she was seen and spoken to by other dog walkers in various places on this popular dog walk. Her husband has been ruled out as he works from home and there is CCTV/camera footage of him at home during this time. Police divers have been searching the water for two weeks and have found nothing…its a real mystery and really feeling for her husband and children. Her husband has now come out and said that he doesn’t believe she is in the water and that she was a very strong swimmer too…. It’s so bizarre, please take a quick look if you have the time. Thank you :) xxx

    • @LilyoftheLake14
      @LilyoftheLake14 ปีที่แล้ว

      @C Skelton That's bizarre! Especially in the UK where you guys are the 3rd most surveilled country in the world behind China and the US with 6.18 million CCTV/security cameras which is 1 security camera for every 10.9 people. You'd think with a country so surveilled that a person in a public place and in broad daylight no less, couldn't just disappear into thin air like that.
      She's definitely not in the water because that dog would've tried to save her 100% cause that's how dogs are even if they're too small to really help. If she had been drowning, at minimum, the dog would be wet from trying to help her. If she was incapacitated and taken by someone who carried her to a nearby car, then the dog would absolutely be panicked and running around trying to get help just like the dog was doing. If she'd drowned, the dog would've stayed close by the water and only tried to get help by running up to passerbys, and then trying to get the person to follow them back to the water.
      I hope that police look through the CCTV of all nearby parking lots and areas where a car could park nearby because they'll probably find video of her abductor and her being carried unconscious or being walked under threat of a weapon.
      This is absolutely puzzling and right up Stephanie's alley. 🤔

    This is a perfect example of why social media is vital to solving crime! There are many many many people who are just ignored when they are victim of crime. Even just burglary or car jacking can happen with local police going “well they are always having drama” and put little to no effort into helping the person. The lack of police protection can be EXACTLY what makes the person the perfect victim for every criminal. So the idea of failing to investigate a murder is clearly going to happen when this is happening in a community. So social media is the BEST thing that’s ever happened to solving crimes!!!

  • @ssantelha

    Hey Stephanie, love the vid, I hadn't heard of this case, but when you were talking about the autopsy report I paid close attention because I'd just been studying hepatic function for school. I have a couple comments that I hope can clarify something. Regarding the hepatic "cirrhosis" stage, that couldn't have happened due to oxygen deprivation, cirrhosis is an exclusively long term, chronic condition, most likely attributed to chronic drinking but it could also come from an undiagnosed hepatitis B or C, sometimes those hepatitis present themselves with mild to non existent symptoms and the patient don't even know they had hep B or C, but the liver damage keeps building over time; some cirrhosis patients never had a drink in their lives, but statistically it's overwhelmingly caused by chronic drinking. The other thing, about the bruises, most coagulation factors are produced in the liver, in a patient with cirrhosis that production is severely damaged, so it's actually pretty common to start having unexplained bruises from the mildest contacts. At this stage they can bruise like a hemophiliac patient, so the presence of bruising doesn't indicate what we'd all assume if she wasn't suffering from cirrhosis. I'm sorry about the lengthy comment but I wanted to say this while it's still fresh in my head LOL. Love you girl._

    • @lnash4482
      @lnash4482 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thank you. Glad someone posted this. Acute liver failure could be caused from lack of oxygen and/or the meds she was given in hospital. Or what we sometimes call “shock liver.” Cirrhosis is chronic scarring. I’ve actually had a patient with nonalcoholic fatty liver that led to cirrhosis and she required a liver transplant, no history of hepatitis and poor lady never drank alcohol either.

      i am glad someone brought this aspect of leeann’s case up. i was diagnosed with cirrhosis & esld five years ago. as was stated by the previous commenter, cirrhosis patients lack normal coagulation and will bleed profusely from the smallest injury. i can also attest to the bruising! another factor is the possible varices, the bleeding that would occur due to a rupture would be severe & commonly fatal.

    Something to consider - patients in liver failure can have excessive bruising because the liver is responsible for creating clotting factors. If her liver was already shutting down by the time she went to the hospital, she could have developed bruises from “injuries” that wouldn’t normally cause bruising (like someone moving her into the bath tub).

    Hi Stephanie.
    Absolutely love following both your own TH-cam channel and Crime Weekly with Derrick.
    I’m from the UK and we have a massive case in the news right now which as a nation, I think we are all following.
    It’s the Nicole Bulley case. She disappeared while out taking her dog for a walk along the rive Wyer, the police seemed to focus their efforts on the water for a long time.. with no luck.
    There’s loads of weird things that don’t add up..
    The husband gives me Chris Watt vibes
    Her husband owns the company that supplies the cctv by the caravan park and was THE ONLY camera that wasn’t working the morning of her disappearance.
    I’d love for you to have a look at it and maybe touch upon it in your crime weekly news or maybe do a longer show in it! I think you would get your teeth sunk right into this one!! Absolutely bizarre

    Often a case could be pushed to the next month because of a paperwork issue. The last thing you want to do is go forward and show your cards too soon.

    Desperately sad case and I'm glad you are raising awareness. It's so incredibly frustrating that the police do not follow their own basic standards. We all know " in the event of an unexpected death you treat it as suspicious and as a crime scene until you can be sure it's not." The very fact he distanced her to friend and said he "thought" she fell..on the 911 call... as if he wasn't living with her..is suspicious. Even if she just fell then went to bed he's at least negligent that he didn't get her help. Given the blood just everywhere there's no way he was unaware this was a bad injury.

    This is insanity, the amount of blood ALL OVER that house is not physically possible to be from a fall. Clearly the clothing/towels SOAKED in blood, the blood trail literally leading to the cleaning supplies, washing machine and shower alone is enough for an investigation to be opened. I’m from a small town myself & I definitely don’t think the police department would’ve done anything if the family didn’t fight for it. So glad they did.

    Coffee and crime time suggestion: near my home town in lancashire, England, theirs an on going investigation in to the very mysterious disappearance of mother of 2 Nicola Bulley whilst she was walking her dog, it is very strange circumstances that she has gone missing with absolutely no leads to go off as far as we the public know, the police seem convinced she has fallen in the water, but her family, everyone she knows and really most people looking at the case so far doesn't believe that, sonar searches have come up with nothing at all, the diving/sonar expert himself has come out to say he doesn't think she's in the water, honestly everyone is just baffled by it, would love to see your take as you're so good at compiling all the information and making some sense of it/ coming up with possible theories X

    Stephanie, I love the way you tell it like it is! Much respect to you! This is very concerning because this case isn’t the only one where justice hasn’t been properly served. I couldn’t imagine having to fight for the police to do their jobs while mourning a loved one. Sad, really sad!

    Thank you for the attention you bring to cases that don't get the mainstream coverage. Please have a look at Irene Gakwa's case, a Kenyan nurse who has been missing since February 2022. Thank you.

    Such a big fan Stephanie ! Your compassion and caring comes through in every video you do! I have watched many different people doing true crime videos and your skill of story telling really helps understand all the events that led up to the loss of these poor people, that deserve to be here with us! Looking forward to your next video as usual!

    Hey Glad you covered this case, Just wanted to let you know I knew some mutual people that were friends with her cousin. I used to live out there. I contacted her and told her you had tried to get up with her and sent her a link to this video. She very much appreciated it and I hope she will contact you soon!

    Hadn't heard about this case. It's frightening how police can dismiss suspicious situations like this. Why? WHY???

    You’re bit at the end of the video was so well spoken. I agree 100%. Too many lessons have been learned the hard way, and in sad cases like this, lives have been lost. Please all take care of yourselves. Protect the ones you love and be wary of the ones you let in

    I live by the motto "don't help someone who won't help themselves" and the word "help" is interchangeable with "care" as well. It's been hard but it's more important for my safety and well being to set boundaries!! 💯🌟🥰

    I can’t believe the lack of integrity and quality police work in either this case or Ellen Greenberg’s case !!! Not are so obviously foul play that anyone can see an investigation is warranted . Praying for justice !!! Thank you for bringing these miscarriages of justice to light
