I say this to my group all the time. It is incredible how much I have learned about D&D storytelling from wrestling and how much overlap there is. Geek Philosophy really nailed many of these things.
I see D&D and wrestling in the video title, I watch. Whenever I try to think of an important NPC, my mind immediately goes to wrestlers in regards to their motivations or personality. My next short/medium term villain is probably going to be based on Roman Reigns.
Two fantastic videos in a row. If I don’t have church in the morning I might rabbit hole your channel tonight Subscribed now and looking forward to more
So i got into playing d&D and properly getting into wrestling at the same time and over the past 8+ years i feel its seeped into everything i write, my current superhero campaign has a roster of characters that acts like a wrestling roster like a narative tool box to use for furthering sotrylines, this video was fantastic.
Thanks so much! I really appreciate the support! I love the connection of a pro wrestling roster and a superhero ttrpg. Great stuff. Keep us posted on your game!
Well how about that...just found this and it's great advice. In fact, my friends and I run an eFed through youtube and Discord where we do promo posts with wrestlers we've made in WWE 2k23 and then sim the matches and do commentary for it. The production guys (me and a few others) often talk about some of the overlap or methods of narrative building which similarly work in D&D because of how we handle the stuff.
Very interesting video and I love the comparison between the two seemingly unrelated subjects. I agree 100% with your points and I'll definitely be utilizing some of these tips going forward.
In light of recent news, I'd like to share this link for anyone who may be seeking help: www.rainn.org
My two favorite hobbies! More intertwined than most people assume.

There is a WWE rpg. Officially licensed, 3.5 mechanics. Probably rare nowadays cause of the demand of 5th ed that barely people want.
Oh wow! I didn't know that - thanks for sharing!
No problem.
