RIP to CPO and Slip Capone. The Eulogy is one of the best songs on the album. The flows and beat are super dope.
Man U hit it on the nose Eulogy is the shit it’s so sinister
Hell yeah that my shit!!!
That song is some of the hardest sh## from the '90s. CPO had the perfect menacing voice for that dark beat. Damn shame CPO never got to put out an album on Death Row.
Facts!!!!!!!!
Cpo made the track almost like movie they way he told the story and the beat moves like a scene I get the 90s nostalgia
Dee, Yac & Crook........West Coast Royalty
Salute
This was the first time I heard of Big Tray Deee was on "21 Jumpstreet" and I've been a fan since
Still my favorite cut on the album! Daz went bananas on the beat! And soon as I heard Snoop come with that “Hear ye, Hear ye” I knew it was finna be a classic! Tray Deee murdered that thang, “Niggaz coming realer than the real McCoy”. Tray Deee was official off rip.
And then the fact they did that song in one night
OG Tray Dee the 1 Who eventually made me like DPG... hated he had to flip 📅 those decades. Salutes Bro
☝🏽
My first time hearing Big Tray Deee was Reality from the Dogg Food album then I later checked out his verse on 21 Jumpstreet
Tray dee don’t get his flowers enough. This man was and still is a major force of west-coast music. Him, kurrupt snoop and Daz. Best group of all time!
🙏🏾💯
You right fam, Tray Dee is pure Lyricist. He was cold from the jump. He gets busy with the best of them. Salute to the homie
MWTC Soundtrack was/is a classic. Dr. Dre, Daz, Soopafly, DJ Quik on the production, Dr. Dre as soundtrack supervisor, wow.
Some of the best spitters in the game come from the West coast.
Definitely agree My G!!!!
Blessings from Va💯💯
No lies detected

All the videos for Murder Was The Case sdtrk was 🔥🔥🔥 Natural Born Killas video was ridiculous, plus the 2pac cameo 🤜🏾🤛🏾💯
I remember the day and place I bought this soundtrack. I was 13 years old in the 8th grade. That album was the soundtrack to the beginning of that school year and the ‘94 football and basketball season.
MURDER WAS THE CASE IS THE FIRST ALBUM MY MOMMA BOUGHT ME WITH THE PARENTAL ADVISORY STICKER. I WAS 9 YEARS OLD!
MUCH LOVE FROM DETROIT!!!!
Im from Miami and I grew up on yall music and I appreciate it and I'll continue to rocc with you guys salute

West coast rap is highly underrated and slept on , period!!!
WHAT?!?! How??!! When???
This discussion takes me back to being a kid, jammin my sister's Maxewell copy of Murder Was The Case, wearing my Raiders Starters jacket, eating 7-11 nachos, wit a Big Gulp talking a gang of shit wit my homies. DAMN I miss them days.......
Slip told me he was only 14 when he did that track with CPO for Murder Was The Case and he sounded like a seasoned veteran . Gone way too soon! Slip was a beast on the mic. i feel blessed to have worked with him. We started a project we didn't get to finish called United Nationz as he wanted to bring Cali and UK rappers together as half of his family is from the UK.
I
Hell yeah that nigga sound like a Og on da track sound like he bout 30 sum💯💯💯💯
Blessings from Va!!!
I’m loving this show! This gonna be added to my weekly watchlist 💪🏾💪🏾
*Eastside Low Bottoms sh*t !*
_Tappin' in from South Central LA_
That album is easily one of the hardest soundtracks on the planet. And in my section - and probably all over any East Side of LA - '21 Jump Street' was the muhhhhfuken ANTHEM ! I got 'The Eastside's Perfect' sewn in on the back of my hat. One of my old school potna's still has it tatted on his forearm.
The way the drum breaks after the Prayer...BOY!!!
I’m from Birmingham,Alabama & Respect & Love yall content DO NOT STOP TGIS SHIT IS BEAUTIFUL 💯💯…. & BY THE WAY “BACK ON THE STREETS STR8 BLUE & GRAY , CUZ I REPERSENT LIKE EVERYDAY”
This is one episode I wish i could discuss with Tray Dee cause 21 Jumpstreet is literally one of my all time favorite songs EVER!
Don't forget about "hot one" by o.f.t.b, a major banger! somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I think It wasn't included on the tape version but was added to the disc version or vice versa?
It was only on the cassette cus of the time constraints on the CD
This pick is much appreciated. I've only heard of this album mentioned one time ever, in a Day With Cali Boy video. I grew up on this album as in rotation. I listened to it all the time. It shaped so much of my style.
You do sound like a vet on that song, Tray Deee.
It's sad to hear about people being that poor, Crooked I. My mom has mentioned about being poor but I don't remember being hungry like that one time ever.
Just like my man just post. The Eulogy is a classic. Straight bars 🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤. Murder was the case, Natural born killer, U better recognize, What would u do, 21 jump street
Yall gotta keep this going, im loving it !
I subscribed too much luv from Atlanta
Tray Dee spits that gangsta sht. 21 Jump Street is one of the best songs on that soundtrack. I've always been a fan
RESPECT. Tht soundtrack got me thru Basic and AIT around '95-'96...all of 'em bangers but "The Eulogy" serious.
Rest Easy Bing🙏🏾, you let me check out the soundtrack a week before it came out. I had mine reserved at Sam Goody Long Beach Mall 🔥🔥

Tray deee THA REALEST!!!
Best sound track ever. Im from France & i stiĺl banging the whole album. 21jumpstreet is still my fav. Don t forget B-Rezel
One of my favorite soundtracks of the WestCoast along with Above the rim & Baby Boy
Murder was the Case was our Soundtrack growing up
That and Lil Half Dead's first album
Listening to Theo, Julio G, and Kevin Slo-Jamming James on 92.3 The Beat...
You made us proud to be from Long Beach 👊🏻💥
This ep was so good. Brought back alotta great memories. In '94, both the MWTC and Above The Rim soundtracks were played everywhere. Crook's breakdown of tge title track by Snoop was absolutely perfect. That's crazy that Tray Deee had that "U Betta Recognize" beat before Sam Sneed laid down his now classic song over the beat. So many people on this soundtrack have passed away now. Rest in peace to CPO, Jewel'le, Slip Capone, Nate Dogg, Ricky Harris and Big Wy. Nothibg better than classic '90s hip hop and r&b soundtracks.
Just need Bullet Loco on to make this the hardest Podcast on The Pacific.
I was in 6th grade when this soundtrack came out . I asked my moms for the movie on Valentine’s Day but she bought the soundtrack instead and I was so upset but when I listened to it I was happy as fuck !!! So coming from Southside Jamaica Queens west coast has always been my go to even till this day juuheard!!! This soundtrack changed me from kid to a young man instantly and it’s a staple in my life . So shout out to this podcast and the west is definitely hip hop
MEGA!!!💪🏾🫡💯
I was in 11th grade and instead of going to school i went to Tower Records and grabbed that tape went back to the turf grabbed 2 for 15 rolled up popped the tape in my walkman hit the play button and sparked that blunt and a hour later Murder was the case became my favorite soundtrack.
And I can’t wait to see y’all do a review on the Above The Rim soundtrack too
Great interview 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yall best episode to date. Appreciate and salute to tha team.
Does Yac do radio out west or anything? She has great energy, knows her stuff and has a solid voice. She and Tray Dee could easily do a show and speak with the people.
I was hoping they kicked lil C Style second verse off Who Got Some Gangsta. Like that scene from the movie ’The Show’. They was lit on the bus 😆
Loved this retrospective!
Would’ve loved to hear your opinions on the cassette bonus OFTB joint Hot One.
The Eulogy is what made me want to be a writer, just the in depth vision visuals of what Slip and CPO showed throughout the song. Made me want to write my own stories
Much love OGz..
You guys are great
Thank you! 🙏🏾
LBC crew was on fire 92-95!!! Fire I had totally forgot about the east during that time!!
💀💀💀bro she kilt that hahaha
Brought a tear to my eye ah that was a dope story rip Nate Dogg Man We All Miss Him.
Dope interview keep em coming 💪🏿 💯
HUWHAT!?!?!? WE HAVE ALL BEEN BAMBOOZLED!! HOODWINKED!! Can we all sit back and just be genuinely offended that Tray Dee had the Better Recognize beat and didn't drop sum. Then couple that with the mere notion that he didn't jump on Who Got Some Gangsta S*** cause ........it would've been too long??????? Sir you owe us. We need those verses on those beats!!! 😂
🤣👍🏾🫡
My favorite show I swear s/o the host big tray deee yac, and crook and I must say as a 91 baby I have much game on these topics, wasn’t this tray deee debute on 21 jump street?
Whoa. Just found this show. I’m late damn
The orgins of Tray Deee's name. That's Gangsta!
I had to like and subscribe and leave a comment just off the strength of being a fan of the general and crooked I
First heard this album was like 15 ..Luvd it !!! Even Stole a Murder was the case T-shirt from Markets n stuffed it down my pants 😂😂😂 was XXL didn’t even fit me But Still Rocked it to Death!!
I'm Pittsburgh we fuc with all that. Sam Snead, Mel man, etc. That's why they went west.
That album is classic straight up from top to bottom. Even the rnb joints from the Jodeci and Dogg Pound Come up to my room, Jewell's The Harvest and remake of Woman to Woman, Danny Boy's joint Come when I call and B Rezell's Horny. They just don't make music like that today.
To Date the most purchesed album ive ever bought!! Like 8 or 9 times i believe!!
How about an eastsidaz and dogg pound 2025 collaboration (double album/24-28 tracks) 🔥 💯
We need to give crooked his flowers and let him speak on his contribution he did on the 19th St. compilation his wordplay on stay out of LA bananas
Shoutout the ETG'S for snatching dude out the truck 😂
Dear God i wonder can you save me.... Reached to God first... Then the devil showed up...😮 that's deep when you break it down.
Damn sure is. The devil answers but God won’t?
This album came out when I was in the 7th grade and it's still in my rotation till this day.
Same I'm a dpg fan for life!
Just subscribed.
When I seen y'all (DPG)on the show movie when y'all was in the RV rapping to that joint, became my favorite song off that soundtrack
... REQUEST: DOGGY'S ANGELS Pleezbaleevit, EASTSIDAZ albums FIRST one especially. Keep it Dogg Pound 🐾.
Fans of all 3 of y'all...but to ME...ONE OF TRAY DEEE'S COLDEST VERSES EVA was his one on "Downtown Assassins"!!! "I had no choice or remorse for time for puttin it down
Niggas know the scoop is stupid if they come from my town...."(hell,no need to type the rest. Deee came in like a Bull!!!!)🔥💪
WELL SAID BIG TRAY DEE THATS HOW IT IS IN THE SOUTH LOUISIANA TO CEE STRAITH CUZZ!!!

The intro before natural born killas
21 Jumpstreet is one of the best songs ever. Trey Dee killed that track, he was rapping like he was fresh out and hungry
Dope Content!
S/o to crooked for breaking that down, a lot of cats be quick to “he sold his soul”
Priest “Soopafly” Brooks credited for the keyboards on “What Would U Do?” Produced by Dat Nigga Daz
Yup i hear the Rakim 💯 like i told others about Big Tray deee ...Like...Monster Kody (in his prime not later) mixed with a flow like Rakim 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Harder than Hard. My Favorite. Like both aspects in one.
Vicious description👍🏾
This the episode I been waiting for!!! And Crook this soundtrack dropped in 94 not 95! I think around October. I had graduated high school in may 94 and bought this tape in the fall.
O.F.T.B song was hard!
Oh shit he's right, he was paying homage to Ice-T because he did say it first years before Natural Born Killas... He hit it on 🎯
Soops played keys on NBK, What Would You Do, One more day, and produced Who got sum g shit
Lil c style won the whole album with his verse on who got some gangsta sh×t ....straight fact 💯
No One ever talks about this Soundtrack, a CLASSIC, plus a dope azz movie🥂
