Co-wrote it with the brilliant Gram Parsons, from Winter Haven FL, who died of an accidental drug overdose in 1973. Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris would sing a beautiful duet of this song.
Glad to hear your wonderful rendition of their song! Keep up the great work Mo Pitney… I’m now a subscriber. Gram would be so proud that you’re carrying on his legacy.

In South Carolina there are many tall pines
I remember the oak tree that we used to climb
Andt it makes me feel better Each time it begins
    Callin' me home, Hickory Wind
I started out younger at most everything
    All the riches and pleasures
    What else could life bring
    And now when I'm lonesome
    I always pretend
That I'm gettin' the feel of Hickory Wind
It's a hard thing to find out that trouble is real
In a far away city With a far away feel
And it makes me feel better each time it begins
    Callin' me home, Hickory Wind
Keeps callin' me home, Hickory Wind.....
