I like the idea behind this kind of comparison, but if you guys took it a step further and had the same driver put down a hot lap in each car I think it would really start to get into a more objective analysis. Also different tires can make a huge difference in lap times. Running the same tire would have been good if possible or perhaps swapping the wheels from one car and mounting them on the other? As much as the feedback on how it feels is a good starting point, you'll soon find that feelings aren't enough to really tune the car.
Just built a lexan spoiler on my nc miata and it understeers everywhere for any turn around 65-70 and up. It's at about a 30 degree angle for reference. You're definitely right, you need to balance the front and the rear otherwise understeer takes over.
No in-video comments on the extra drag the wing seems to produce, noticeable on a lot of the straights where the unwinged S seems to be pulling away until the next corner.
Agreed. The wing produces extra drag sacrificing the high speed acceleration to favor the corners. A smooth underbody front-to-back with a properly angled rear diffuser would produce a great amount of downforce while reducing drag quite a bit.
I'm liking all the s2000 track videos! Been a while since I've been out to buttonwillow with my s2k. Would be fun to run with you guys since I'm at about the same pace. You running the speedventures s2k challenge?
Hondas everywhere, even a crx it seems. I'm sure once you get control of that oversteer you'll get some more confidence and even better lap times! Whether you go the wing/splitter route, or wider tires and camber, etc etc. just have to find the method that works best for you
Thank you for review! I love S2000 and I hope one day I will buy it)) But I don't understand why Honda many-many years don't make cool cars (S2000 included). I thing that the best time for next generation S2000 was 2016-2018. For what the Honda marketing mens and CEOs take a money? Maybe they are working for BMW and Porsche?...
I'm at Buttonwillow in a friend's square, non-aero S2K (mine is in the shop). I definitely experienced the twitchiness on high speed turns, which is why I'm here! Do you recall what your speed was around Sunset and Phil Hill? I've been slowly creeping up but haven't yet exceeded 90 miles an hour. Seems like a really gnarly place to spin out
Wish I could remember but it's been ages since I've been to Buttonwillow. Just keep slowly working your speed up and always be ready to catch oversteer! Non-aero square is pretty loose.

Maybe leave the words on the screen a little longer. I'm taking in the visuals too long I guess =) Great video though.
Good feedback, I will make the captions stay on screen longer next time
Your skill is really improving! S2K is hard to drive quickly. A wang is a good next step!
ha wang
I, personally, wouldn't add a wing without a splitter. I don't think I would enjoy the imbalance that comes with just a wing.

One day I"ll make the trip to Buttonwillow. Never been here. Great vid...I hope to use these for some recon.

Just wondering if you tried adjusting your dampers do see if it helps your balance?
Or put 05-06 rear sway bar on
Lol i just noticed, do you have one of those big Japanese Mirrors that go over the original rear view mirror?
Yup it's one of those Broadway mirrors. I love it.
Zygrene they sure as heck come in handy for an expansive rear view!

Wish you made videos with a Porsche 996, 997.
Check out my previous videos. I've reviewed a 997 Turbo and a 996 Carrera!
Aaa to bad you guys cut me out of the video at the end I was having fun passing everything one that day and yes seat time is the better mod
Drag is a son of a bitch.
