As an Ipswich supporter, this a great podcast. To be fair, we could have got five in the fist half with more clinical finishing, and I thought Birmingham looked like they were not fit enough, to be fair, whereas we are the fittest team in the league, according to the stats, and that means we do play for 90 plus minutes. When we won 4-0 at Millwall, they looked awful, so for them to win at Southampton was a shock, but if Birmingham could also beat Southampton, that wold be great for both of us! It was no surprise to see the love for Mowbray, and he will do a great job for you next season. To put it in context, we have only lost 4 games this season, the fewest in the league, and we only lost 4 in the league last season in 46. You are playing Southampton at a good time, they are under pressure.
Thank you very much for your comment which is greatly appreciated. Ipswich looked really good on Saturday and it’s no surprise of where you are in the league. Good luck for the rest of the season and I hope you get promoted. Kind regards.
#itfc fan here. Really enjoyed the analysis. some interesting views and angles. Always like fans coming together as we did for the 5th minute for Mowbray. A real itfc icon & I think he and Venus will see you safe (he should never have been sacked by Sunderland, so i think you have fell on your feet there (as long as your owners don't go all Zola/Rooney on you again!) I felt we could have been a few up in the first 40mins but you did seem to come back into it and had a 15-20 min spell of your own straddling both halves. Would be interested what you think of Dozzell in general- he always had a good pass/vision in him but tended to be a lethargic player. I saw another Vlog where a bcfc fan suggested he is really mobile... which was a surprise. Good luck for the season- as long as you keep Stansfield fit you should be fine & can build next season with Mowbray back in place.
Thank you very much for your comment. It is easy to see why Ipswich are near the top of the table with the way you played and definitely one of the best teams we have played this season. As you point out we have a good patch in the game at the end of the first and beginning of the second half but our problem is we don’t do this for long enough in games. Dozzell has been a really good addition to our midfield since he came in. I would not say he is overly mobile but he is toward thinking which is why he was brought in and he is forging a good relationship with Paik. We were at 1-1 when we took Dozzell and Paik off which is what I think changed the game. We would have been more compact if they had stayed on. I think we will be ok this season and then we can build in the summer and finally start to move forward again as a club in the summer. I’d like to see Ipswich back in the Premier League so good luck for the rest of the season. Kind regards.
Sanderson and Mark Roberts not good enough imo and Dembele needs to track back to support midfield. I think we’ll stay up this season, but we need several players out this summer. KRO
Thank you for your comment. The summer will be a real game changer for the team in terms of recruitment so let’s see what happens. I think we will stay up this season as well but we need to cut out silly mistakes and stop overplaying in forward positions. KRO
I think Ipswich remembered the earlier fixture in the season. We were 2-0 up when they scored in the 79th and 89th minutes. Saturday, 81st and 92nd. Message from their manager must have been 'just keep pressing'.
Yes, they are a very good pressing side anyway. It’s a shame we can’t be more compact in the latter stages of games. If we did we would pick up more points. KRO
You were second best at Portman Road by a mile. We could and should have wrapped it up by halftime but were very wasteful in front of goal. Brum looked very poor and are in for a relegation battle if they are not careful.
Thank you very much for your comment. There is no doubt that Ipswich were the better side however given where you are in the league that was to be expected. We are in a relegation battle which unfortunately for us is familiar territory. Despite the Ipswich performance we have been improving under Tony Mowbray and I’m confident we have enough to stay up this season. Best wishes for the rest of the season.
For me Dembele can't play minutes unless we're desperately chasing a game against a low block. Even then I wouldn't trust him to not fanny around with the ball and find the right time to pass/shoot.
Thank you for your message. Dembele is one of those frustrating players who has bags of ability but unfortunately does not do enough for the team as a whole. He has the ability to produce that moment at magic but also has the ability to cost us goals which unfortunately makes him a neutral player. KRO
Given the relative league positions (and Brum being managerless) I thought Birmingham put in a decent effort at Portman Road. That said, I’ve no idea why Jordan James went and took the piss in front of the home fans after his goal; a first half equaliser against the team joint second in the league when you’re fighting off relegation is not the time to get cocky. I like Birmingham and I hope things get better for you, but given that you relegated us on your last trip to Portman Road, this was a very satisfying one to win.
Thank you very much for your comment which is greatly appreciated. There is no doubt that Ipswich were the better team and deserved the three points. Good luck for the rest of the season and I hope you achieve promotion. Kind regards
Sorry to say this but we are in trouble and it’s time to take the blinkers off. TM will most likely miss the rest of the season. Mark Venus lost us this game when we needed and was on track for a draw. Other teams are fighting like hell and we have laughing show boaters on the field. Laid was poor like Dembele. It is time to stop this laughing and joking and players now need to fight for theirs and our lives. Soldiers is what we need.
Thank you very much for your comment which is greatly appreciated. We are in a relegation battle without a doubt and as we said in the video there are quite a few things that contribute to the defeat at Ipswich which need to be addressed. We are in a very familiar position again which is unfortunate however I think we have enough to get out of trouble. We have some decent players and if we can cut out silly errors and start to tighten up at the back we will be ok. It will be good to see Pritchard in the team and what he has to offer. A big few months ahead but I’m confident we will be ok. KRO
Thank you for your comment. Sunjic is what he is, he is great at disrupting opposition play and adds some bite in our midfield. Agreed his ball distribution is often poor but he is a much improved player compared to what we saw when we sent him out on loan. KRO
Not a chance you will be in relegation mix. Looked a totally different side to the one we drew with under rooney. Much more organised and more of a threat going forward
Thank you very much for your comment which is greatly appreciated. We are much better now under Tony Mowbray however to be fair Ipswich were far better on Saturday and deserved to win. We still have some tough games to come but I’m sure we are good enough to stay up this season. Good luck for the rest of the season. Kind regards.
Hi both, started watching a couple weeks ago and really enjoying the videos. I do think we'll be okay this season, I agree we'll be around 17th but there's deffo things that need work on. I personally don't understand the need to sub Paik off every game. Yes it worked the last 2 home games but it massively backfired against Ipswich taking him off as well as Dozzell. I think we look so much better with both of them on the pitch and so much more positive. They really work well together and surely should be able to see out a full 90 together. I also would like to see Buchanan playing more. He was our best defender before he was out injured earlier on in the season. I wouldn't mind seeing him drop into CB and possibly help with cover on that left side as Laird likes to get forward. I just don't think Marc Roberts cuts it for us at the back. I do think we can't be too down after the loss on the weekend. Ipswich are flying especially at home, onto the next one! Sorry for the lengthy one. KRO💙🤍
Thank you very much for your comment and we are really pleased you are enjoying our videos. You make some good points and agree with many of the points we raised in the video. Mark Venus may take a few matches to find his feet while Tony is away however like yourself I think we have more than enough to be ok this season. KRO
@@BCFCRoyalBlue If we're able to get an atmosphere even slightly close to Sunderland at a few more home games this season we'll be more than safe. It was very noticeable the boost it had for the players and I do think played a massive part in the final result.
