I dont understand how somebody can dislike such amazing rendition!
Yet another excellent rendition by the truly great TNS --- a real treat for us rasigars ! To be admired is his easy relaxed style, bhaavam , interesting swaraprasthana phrases, inter alia.
I am going go out on a limb and say… perhaps the best rendition of bantureethi at least the best one i’ve listened to! i’ve been coming back to this for years!
MY guru is the best "the god of music!!".
Unmatched contemporary artist @pinnacle for past 50 years
Heavenly singing --- God has blessed us to have such a wonderful Artistes
wonderful singing...... to say it short and sweet,,,,,,,, hamsamana hamsanadham excelllllleeennttttt!!!!!!!
I was crying with devotion during and at the end of this song
exactly at the time code 09.22. TNK sings ga ri sa ni pa.. and it is very noticed coz Hamsanadam is very beautiful to hear without that GA....
Yes, it's clear. Put it down to sheer lack of experience! Thankfully, he did not actually sing the 'ga'. His voice was at 'ri'. If he had really used 'ga' note, it would have been jarring and TNS would have probably glared back at him! As it is, the old warhorse appears to have let it go.
True.. :D
Sir U r the best in hamsanadam. No one can beat U in this raga .
It is always a pleasure to hear any video clip that gives songs sung by Padmabhushan Sri T.N. Seshagopalan. His sangitha gnanam, kural vaLam, kaRpanaith ThiRan, elaborate alaabana, brikaakkaL, niravalGaL, swarap prasthaaranGaL etc., are always quite absorbing, thought provoking and gives pleasure for resikas to hear. Besides he is a master of the Veena and Harmonium; besides his latest addition , for roughly over a decade if I am correct, is rendering Harikatha Kalakshebam and he is performing the 'Kalekshabams' as per the Guru Parampara tradition of Harikesanallur Sri Muthiah Bhagavatar. He became as an exponent of "Harikatha" which is the latest addition depicting his capacity.

Awesome 🙏Perhaps one raga which if used in any genre of music be it carnatic, film or devotional, songs in this happiness inducing ragam Hamsanadam makes music lovers go into repeat mode of listening.
Oh. Lucky to hear this divine rendition!!!!
Listening 100000000000000th time 😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇
Excellent exposition and wonderful vocal support!!!
Best performance by sr and son t n s krishna
we can see the divinity in his voice emanating, I think the beauty of a song is only amplified by the singer's devotion to its true meaning.

I've been searching for a singer a wee bit closer to your rendition... You are the Great Sir... the now Famous Unni Krishna messed it up for his part...

Bantureethi kolu is a very nice Telugu song composed by Thyagaraja and is set in Hamsanaadam raaga. The tempo and the pitch of the song are very catchy.

Good spot :-) I think even TN looks sheepish for a moment.
Where is this "foreign GA" ?
Raga --- Hamsanadam
in spite of recording from TV prog, the quality is so good; thanks .TNS's son has a bright future.
suryanaryanan, paris
is it neyyveli venkitesh on ganjira?
yes
Yes I checked. But, I dont think i'm good enuf to comprehend tat yet. am a beginner.
Is the young man his disciple? Good singing...good vocal support to the marstro
his son.
listen carefully, "GA" comes in the final 'korvai'. He sings like, GA RI SA NI PA instead of MA RI SA NI PA.
got it?
Yes ga was rendered by the shishya
T.N.S sings absolutely brilliant.
but........... son,TNS.K, ohmg, why did he grab the foreign GA in ?
may be lack of practice.
what a mesmarising voice Sir, what a great involvement while rendering the kRithi, we are blassed.

Meaning: In this song Sri Thyagaraja pleads with Rama to give him the post of a guard for Raama; symbolically meaning that he always wants to be in Sri rama's sannidhi (in his presence).
He says in the anupallavi, the guard's post should be such that he is empowered to destroy all the demons which are arishadvargas (kama-love, krodha, lobha, moha, mada, matsarya) and since the guard is empowered to do so, he needs such a guard's post.
In the caraNam, he says he should be blessed with the emblem of Ramabhakti, given a sword called Raama Naama (the name of Raama) to perform his guard's job.
No, this is Venkatesh
It is bantureeti koluvu and NOT bantureeti kolu...Please change the title either to bantureeti koluvu or just bantureeti. "Kolu" does not have any meaning. Please don't kill the sweet language by wrong splits of the words...
Stop pretending like a know it all. It is koluvu + iyyavayya. In telugu, syllables often join. So it becomes koluviyyavayya. Secondly, sometimes is alright to disregard lyrical content in favour of musical phrasing. This is an open debate in carnatic music, and all that depends is what side you are on. T.N.S. certainly belongs to the side this will not contain itself by lyrical barriers.
What is the meaning of bantureethi
Sudha Raghunathan does a good job of enunciation. I agree with you, Bantureethi koluvu iyyavaiya rama sounds correct. He is asking Rama for something. So iyyavaiya sounds correct.
It is truly amazing that some people find it so annoying that TNSK used a foreign-Ga in Hamsanatham.. Hmm.. If TNS (dad) can get
the Sa right for one full concert,
I'll be glad to listen to more of him :-) BTW, I wonder if you have heard both Nishadas being used in hamsanatham by some school of singers (like GNB, Mandolin Srinivas)..
watch from 0:40 to 1:10 ..wow..chanceless rendering..
Mr. Krishna's singing is only lacking in quality in that he seems unable to produce that subtle 'bhavam' that Mr. Seshagopalan is so expert at creating, just by a quick inflection of the voice at 'riti,' for instance. But I think he certainly has technique and given time and much experience, I feel that it will improve of itself. His voice does remind one of a younger T.V. Sankaranarayanan, though.
5 dislikes? ...ha ha ha ha
Sir.....with due respect to you- its “Banturithi Koluvu Iyyavaiya Rama”...not Banturithikolu Viyavayya Rama.....
The great Thyagaraja gave so much of importance to Sahityam as he did for Sangeetham, which means both are inseparable.🙏🙏🙏🙏
