What a Walsall team this was, loved the foreigners we had aswell….pedro,Jorge, zigor was such a great time to grow up watching that team. RIP Matt Gadsby
As a Stokie it's a painful watch but hats off to Walsall that was a cracking performance. It's mad the crowds that both teams used to get for saying it was division 2 (the 3rd tier). Some great memories of that era around the end of the Victoria ground and start of the Brit. Great atmosphere at the Bescot there as well.
That team was loaded with good professionals who had been around a bit and collectively formed a very good team, everyone pulled their weight and their was no prima donnas they played with pride it was a good time to be a walsall fan .
Was standing behind the opposite goal when Wardy 'chucked one in' nearly died with laughter! From then on we kept laughing everytime he touched the ball and taunting him with chants of 'Wardy is a sadler' and 'dodgy keeper'
Yep, totally.. It went from 1-0 Stoke to 4-1 Walsall in the space of about 10 minutes (not including half-time). Stoke disintegrated after the Ward howler

Was at this game as a young lad, would give anything to see the ground like this again

One of best proper old football nights you never forget ⚽️
I will take the hurt of being there and losing this game coz we went on to have 10 years in the prem.
Ian Brightwell - unsung hero

Walsall enjoyed the night but Stoke have had much better times since.

left after their 3rd. Was a real good Walsall side. Ward's mistake changed the game

He did a great job for us a very good captain and had a very good footballing brain 👍
I remember him as a Villa youth/reserve player around 1987,...very good player.
I've been there
Street enders..!!
It's funny that Walsall won the final and left Stoke behind; now look where the two sides are!
Cream always rises.
Dark days indeed.
Remember thinking that I would never see Stoke in the top flight again.
Fair play to Walsall, a decent side back then.
Gunnarsson looks like boris Becker
