I remember one time being in a dungeons attraction and the effects all going haywire and out of sync as such. So they turned on the emergency lighting and moved us on. Fascinating to see
@@coaster_dad it is. I am curious how the effects all work. From my understanding, some are on a timer and are sensor based whilst others are actor activated. And they have to work within the script for cues etc
I live in the northeast United States. The amusement park my friend and I visit twice a year is a seasonal one. Among other things, the park is famous for its rare rides. Many of the rides are relatively old, but the park is super dedicated to taking care of them. One such example is their biggest carousel. The horses on that carousel are refurbished in rotation every 3 years. A few years ago they even replaced the ring dispenser and it's FAR tighter now than it was years ago! I feel like I'm going to rip my finger off when I grab for rings. They do walk their coaster tracks daily. You can hear them hammering away at the wooden coasters hours before the park opens. I'm sure they do much of the stuff described in the video when the park is closed for the winter. Thank you for this informative video. :)
Brilliant video as always matey 😊. Very informative and amazing to see what happens behind the scenes during close/winter season. Superb, keep up the good work bud 😊😁👏👍
@ Glad you had a safe flight! I’m meeting some friends there next week, not sure what to make of it as Europa is beautiful and PortaVentura is lovely too
Hi, another great video. With winter here and it is the uk for a lot of theme parks (bad weather) can put a dampner on your day. Do you think it would be good options to have more indoor rides to help with this? Like a park made especially to have all shops, coasters, rides indoors? I get it would be expensive and extremely hard but just a thought 😂❤ keep up the amazing work that you do to keep content.
@coaster_dad that would be amazing, I'm guessing expensive prices but it could be worth it in other aspects, will look forward to when it's here and you do a video 🥰 keep being amazing!
I have wondered how they do it in the merlin attractions such as dungeons..I would assume most of morning is doing the daily check and then in evenings they work nights or night work to do maintenance etc
@coaster_dad there used to be one at Edinburgh which I managed to go on circa 2020 then covid came and because of Scottish laws being tougher they couldn't operate it so it's now inoperable unfortunately and upon asking staff, it looks like it's not returning as cannot get the parts for it. Big job supposedly. The London one is getting a major overhaul I think at minute according to website and says will return this year.
@coaster_dad am also curious where the maintenance workshop is for the boat ride or if its on a hoist they use. There was or is an image somewhere online of the maintenance on it
@sampower1735 that’s interesting. Since it’s on my doorstep I was planning to do it. Last time I was in it the boat wasn’t working so that explains it!
@coaster_dad please do a vlog of it as its a good atrraction. I love history and the immersion is fantastic. And also check out the other midways like York,Blackpool and london
The engineers are often the backbone of the theme parks. The stuff they do behind the scenes to keep the rides and attractions safe and operational is remarkable, often working to tight budgets and deadlines. Big up the engineers, woo hoo! 👍🔧🪛
Hsg 175 is the Bible for theme parks and safety. Been reading up on it. And daily check is mentioned quite extensively. It's basically to make sure it's safe etc. Then annual maintenance is so an independent body can ensure a ride is safe to operate for a specified period of time. Hope this all helps and expands. Nearly myself got a tech apprenticeship in a merlin park. They pay decent money but not really a big spender so it's the enjoyment aspect. All rides have a document of compliance basically and have to do a lot of pre use inspections such as design review, assessment of conformity to design etc.
@ I understand and don’t fault you for it as a fan of the channel! I more worry about people clicking for the first time who don’t know the quality and commitment that you have to offer!

@coaster_dad i would imagine when they do maintenance they switch on maintenance lights but it's interesting to see the immersion from the darkness
@@sampower1735 if you look for it you can see the actors pressing pedals

Thanks for this.
My pleasure
I’m just down the motorway from Phantasia! Visiting next week, I’ve just come from PortaVentura and Europa Park. Shame I’ll miss you!
Aw damn. I just landed back in Scotland a couple of hours ago 🙈

Well some expect the Universal park to have a lot of indoor attractions to allow it to be a 365 park. So we’ll see (if it happens obviously)

Maybe. I’m curious what they’ll do with that building. Whether the boat ride will be kept or it will be gutted 🤷♂️

Thanks. Baaaaanana 😂
@coaster_dad 🤣
Great video! Not a big fan of the AI thumbnail personally!
Thank you. That’s fair about the thumb. I struggled to come up with one. Hence a wee query to ChatGPT 🙈

did you use chatgpt for the thumbnail
Ha ha. Yes. Everyone noticed 🙈 I struggled to come up with one for this video
@@coaster_dad Please Don't Keep Doing It :)
I had a acadent on a coaster once the breaks broke we hit the car infront of us
I hope everyone was ok! 😳
@coaster_dad yes but are knees where soar but we where to young to ask for anything
Nice vid but the thumbnail is that AI
Aye. I was struggling to come up with something. So I tried AI. Not sure I’ll use it again though.
