  • Killswitch Engage's Jesse Leach has teamed with Revolver for "Flex Your Head," a new video-interview and podcast series where the singer dives deep into the inner workings of other musicians to try and find out what drives them to create. The premiere episode features Keith Buckley, lead vocalist and lyricist for metalcore stalwarts Every Time I Die. The two frontmen discuss formative influences, the value of humor and the challenge of channeling personal hardship into art.

Every Time I Die is one of the VERY few bands that I loved when I was 15 or 16 and still listen to regularly at 29.

"I assure you, hell is not a myth." Knowing what was going on when he wrote these lyrics and hearing the song now, it's hard to not get emotional. Such a great lyricist and band.

"i genuinely feel like there are things that cant be conveyed in a pleasant voice" - i've been saying this for years to people who always ask "why do they scream all the time in metal music, cant they just sing?" ... the answer is no. no they can not. you're missing the point.

Jesse Leach and Keith Buckley. Fuck yes. Both such amazing front men of two of my favorite bands ever. Got into ETID at around 15 years old, I'm 32 and still screaming every track at the top of my lungs. What I love the most about these 2 dudes is that they will never sacrifice what their soul wants for what the bank account wants. ETID are the G.O.A.T.S for me. Forever an *ETIDiot*

There's nothing like an interview between colleagues. There is so much respect between these two, and the artist just opens up in a way that, it feels like, he would never do for someone from magazines or radio/podcasts/whatever.

PLEASE do more of these. Jesse asks all the questions I wish interviewers would but never do. Only someone who has been there and lived it would be able to talk this way. No way a reporter could ever get to this level.
