Zenless Zone Zero  is a free-to-play urban fantasy action role-playing game developed and published by miHoYo in mainland China, with global publishing by Cognosphere, d/b/a HoYoverse. It is scheduled for release on Microsoft Windows, iOS, Android and PlayStation 5, on July 4, 2024.
Zenless Zone Zero is an urban fantasy action role-playing game. The player assumes the role of a Proxy, a character who helps others explore the hostile alternate dimensions called Hollows. As they advance, the Proxy will recruit new members to their party as they continue to fight the Ethereal and other enemies. By combining the abilities of different members, players can deploy greater damage and combos onto enemies.

"They sold it as combat-main game"...
I actually don't remember Hoyo themselves selling it like that. Combat heavy? Yes. And it is. Combat exclusive? Nah.

" Combat heavy? Yes" - what? Bro, what are you smoking? It's 15-30min in TVs with 1-5min total in battle. And btw "combat-main game" doen't mean combat exclusive, it mean combat heavy 😑

@@RavenShugo Unless you want to go to level 40 in one day it's like ONE big TV adventure per day at most. And like 7-8 material grinds, 1-2 combat missions and several missions where 90% of time is dialogue, 5% are TVs and another 5% are combat.
PS. Well, unless you are bad at handling TVs. For me they are usually very fast barring 2 or 3 long missions, so I spend more time in combat than in TV.

@@al103 The amount of time you spend talking, walking, TVs etc to combat times makes it NOT combat heavy as you said.
And doesn't matter how fast you are with TVs, it's still gonna take longer, than combat.
The problem is that hoyo really tried to present it as combat heavy, which it is not.

To me I was sold on the idea that this would be a slower paced game blending narrative, puzzles & combat.
It reminds me of older JRPGs that I played as a kid and am enjoying each aspect of it.
I get the impression he's expecting this to be entirely combat and may have gone in with mismatched expectations.
If a player is not enjoying the narrative and puzzles (TVs), realistically they are going to have a bad time when so much of the core gameplay revolves around those aspects.
It is possible that some players want entirely combat-focused games and may not be the target audience for a game that is focusing on more than just combat.

for the most part i enjoy the tv system but its gets tiring having people shout at me that the tv is the most horrible system they needs to be removed

While watching this specific video by Necrit, there was this thought in my head telling me Hoyoverse might want that piece of a pie from Blue Archive (judging from some complaints on character population) and other past gacha games for the last decade, and bring that piece to ZZZ.
Edit: 19:08 yeah experience that 1 to 2 hours of exploration map yesterday, the rewards not even worth it, unless you want to know what's on the end. Just get all the 3 observation data and you can just end there.

So about the "2 hour mission", yes it's true, for the most part you'll try to avoid fighting in there. But you're not forced to play through the entire thing, just the 1/5 part of it for sake of all the observation data orbs and polychromes. But yeah, it's not the only mission like this, which is ridiculous to me honestly

Zenless Zone Zero isn't the deepest game, but it is pretty fun and looks good. That said, I also don't play it on mobile, and have not played it much yet, but I've enjoyed it, generally speaking - but at it's core it's still a Gacha game. I guess I like it, though it would be a little better if it had a little more depth in the combat, it IS made for mobile users above all... it is like some of MiHoYo's other games in the attention to detail / quality of the characters, world, and animations. I have to give them props there, it might not quite be on the level of Genshin Impact, but that's more because you don't have an open world to explore, nor as many years in development - it's ..ok, I've had a little fun with it so far. I'm sure I'll keep playing it for a bit at least... I simply enjoy that company's uh, craftsmanship, but I think I'll have to play it a bit more to really get a good feel for how it measures up.

After trying out PGR a few months ago, going back to Hoyo slop just doesn't hit.
All those animations, quality and huge budget doesn't matter if the story suck.
PGR is just a visual novel style writing, and thats all that's required because the story is peak.

The thing is, yes, it can be both adults AND Gen Z, as at this point, a large portion of Gen Z are, in fact, adults. I believe the age range is something like 12 to 27?

A game with furries, characters with big kahonkas, fanservice everywhere, and literally the only hoyo game with swearing. Ahh yes a great game for children to play.
