I'm just a guitaris, l don't play bass. But, if you are an average bassist, this bass line could be simple and weak 🤔. But, when you are an artist, musician songwriter and, if you have to create your own bass line on a song of your band, (the Beatles) it's not the same thing and particularly at that time...
Ya,separated,it doesn't thrill. But back in the whole mix it grooves the tune. Also thinking up those notes that virtually no bass player on earth would come up with...Makes him great..Me,I like lower register notes, but dude and band will never happen again...@@nonrepublicrat
um..utter brilliance. vocals, (wild) guitars.. (the pick control on the staccatto parts)...pauls bass is interplanetary..especially IN the mix,,,breathtaking. It's what brought me here..was listening to the album and just started playing Bird over and over to listen to Paul's bassline.. Ringo...sitting right in the pocket where he knows what needs doing., always on the swing and rolling the measures..so brill and so modest .the combo of these boys was a gift.
@horsenamedbird6249 I've always considered this one of their best overlall compositions....exquisite harmonies, killer bass, bang-on lead guitar picks, great lyrics...just a superb but underrated classic by the Beatles.
It did set down a template for what was to follow. I still think of this as the almost perfect guitar pop song - it has everything you need, all packed into just under 2 minutes
@@immediate66 I agree...The Searchers and The Byrds played some of the first "Power Pop" riffs ever...but this song led the way for bands like Big Star and Badfinger
Fantastique 👍👍👍🎸🎸🎸🎶🎶🎶❤🇨🇵

The more I listen, the more I wish they had taken a year apart from each other in 1970, made a solo album each, and then come back together for another ten years.
@@nonrepublicratYou’re wrong 😑 Bass in this song is essential, just as each instrument in this song as a whole . IMO very innovative and beautiful maybe even majestic along with lead harmony guitars / vocals .
@@vincec727 It's a diss track. John is kinda famous for them. "But you don't see/get/hear me." is basically saying "you'll never approach my ability." Most of the rest of the song says "Doesn't matter how much money you make you'll still never be as good as me." If the reading material is correct, the song is written to Mick Jagger.
@@somewhereetc It is a diss track, and if you decipher some of what he says about "seven wonders" (seven levels), birds being "green" and able to sing, along with the object of his derision being content with what he has and has done, and the fact that when all falls down, John will "be 'round", it's easy to figure out who it's pointed at.
The Joe Walsh story about him learning this song by ear in high school is good for a laugh. Double track was such a new technique he didn’t know about it and assumed George Harrison was just incredible.
I’ve always wanted this to happen thank you so much for uploading this also Fun Fact: Did you know that that song was used for the intro of Season 3 of The Beatles Saturday Morning Cartoon back in 1967
Super interesting. Seems like Paul had several ideas to play over the verses and rather than settle on a single bass line, he played each of them on successive verses. The other thing that stands out is that Paul is also a drummer and it shows; his gliding and bouncing over the incessant straight 2 and 4 of the rhythm guitar and drums is brilliant.
John called it "another one of my throwaways..." I respectfully disagree with Mr. Lennon. It's actually one of the best songs they've ever done! All the rich musical and vocal elements that defined The Beatles' unique sound are in this composition.
I got it right! The bass that is. Hearing the track kinda makes me feel better. George Martin covered a mutable of sins. I always thought I wasn't clean enough. I've been listening to alot of isolated tracks and see no one was all that clean. It's studio magic I guess. Or else why were people like George Martin, Tony Clark needed.
his part playing with George was so good that he didn't cared enough to write / play a good bass line ... he just about played anything just as long it was played key -- the result - a non heightened bass line on recording ...
Green Day it's been a while, might do one soon enough. It always failed to gain attention on this channel whenever I uploaded some though. But it's one of my favorite bands. Weird Al I don't know nearly enough to do a deconstruction, only know like 3 of his hits
Those harmonised guitars.... so so glorious.....
John Lennon--best rhythm guitarist in the world 🌎 🎸
George & Paul hit it on lead
My favourite song in Revolver. And my favourite bassline of the Beatles with Rain.
"bassline" is very simple and weak". the bass on "Old Brown Shoe" is so much better.

trendy comment, but actually the bass is the weakest part.

George's first down beat is just fucking masterwork. God damn. The whole song's a big "fuck you" and he starts it off with such nice pre-punctuation.

It’s a shame back then that they didn’t have enough tracks to split the twin leads ☹️

Did Paul record the bass during the overdubs?
So the vocals... One track was clean, no effects. And the 2nd track had reverb?😢
That's pretty much it! 2nd vocals is one of their first uses of ADT too.
That's cool! I didn't know that.@@rbstems
You should do a Green Day deconstruction. Or a Weird Al deconstruction.

It's amazing how good it sounds, despite the individual tracks sounding so dirty. The rhythm guitar especially sounds terrible to me.

Lead guitars were overdubbed, rhythm wasn't.
