Never touched any of the rip-off box sets. I have all the original albums that sound perfectly good. Just cynical marketing guff churned out by the record company after Gilmour and Waters (and mainly Waters) have argued via their expensive lawyers as to whom gets credited for what.
Somebody once said that TH-cam is the closest we'll ever get to a time machine, and this video just proves that statement as 100% true.

Yes, YT really has grown into a huge open-access archive with lots of priceless, rare video and audio, documentary/feature films and all sorts of stuff that would be impossible to find on the open market. With all its shortcomings, the Tube does a great job of providing cultural goods - I just hope they will find some sort of solution to keep stuff posted even after the person/s who started a channel is no longer around.

4k is defined by resolution, not video quality. This 8mm film was scanned in 4k, with a real film scanner. Just because you don't see all the facial pores that you want to see doesn't mean that it isn't 4k. Your perception of 4k is insane.

To folks wondering why this isn't the whole concert, allow me to explain:
The average 8mm film cartridge could only shoot about 3 minutes of video. With the average Pink Floyd concert being around 2.5 hours long or 150 minutes, that means you would have to have 50 8mm cartridges to capture the whole show.
The average cost of an 8mm cart in 1975 was $2.50 (USD). That means 50 reels would cost $125, on top of the $30 camera you would have to own already. I also took the time to look up the ticket price for this show, which was $8.50. So, in order to film the whole show, you would have had to spend $163.50 in total, which was a lot of money for the average Joe back in the day.
Even if you somehow managed to do ALL of that, you now have to sneak in the camera and all 50 film carts, which was no easy task either (even with 1975 security). Then, if you managed to get past the gate with all that, there would STILL be cuts because you would have to stop filming to change out cartridges.
So, that's why it isn't the whole show. You have to remember that people who did this just tried their best with what they had. If you want to hear the full AUDIO of the show, then simply search for "Pink Floyd Hamilton 1975" or something like that. You'll still have a great experience, trust me.

You didn't mention the cost to develop all those reels of films. You could buy longer carts of 8mm/super 8, if your camera could accept them but they probably weren't sold locally. 60's/70's concerts are filmed with at least three camera men so that when one camera runs out of film and they're reloading with film, at least one of the other two will still be filming and you can just cut to their angle and not have a complete drop out.
Sounds like you would have to stay pretty sober… at a Pink Floyd concert. God bless whoever managed to record this.

I was there, and not far from the vantage point of this film. It was a baking hot day and they opened the gates early, so we spent the better part of the afternoon cooking on the 30 yard line.Despite their best efforts at screening for drugs and alchol at the gates, most of us all were truly wasted by the time the band hit the stage making the experience absolutely epic. I'm 65 now and have never forgotten - nor will I ever - the moment that heartbeat began to circle the stadium from 5 enormous amplifier towers. To see this film now...I dunno. Can't describe it. Just can't.

At the Atlanta 75 show I don't recall them going to any extra lengths to screen for anything despite there being a couple of early ODs that required ambulances. For the most part, the audience was left alone and the cops didn't mess with people. People were openly smoking once the second DSOTM set began.

It’s almost hard to believe this was shot on 8mm film. With the way it’s been cleaned up, it looks more like it was on 16mm film. This is quite possibly one of the greatest finds of live footage from Pink Floyd yet. Thank to all the people involved in restoring this footage. :)

8mm film wasn't as bad as people think. Most of the "8mm film" you see these days is faked with filters that make it look worse than the real thing, really blurry and with stupid amounts of chromatic aberration, and people think it actually looked like that. Like all the fake VHS footage you see these days that looks far worse than real VHS, as if no VHS ever had working tracking and every VHS tape had been chewed up and crinkled! If you get a chance to see real 8mm shown on a decent projector, the quality is pretty good. It's close to Blu Ray quality for detail, colour quality is a bit sketchy though.
I was there! Drove from Aylmer Ontario with two car loads of friends! I was 17 yrs old and this was my first major concert - I thought ALL concerts were like this! Soon found out I’d been spoiled for life. Nothing has lived up to it for nearly 50 years, now!

I was 16 hitchhiked from Smith falls. Ontario got there 2 nights early partied across the street at 3 different houses. That whole city was rocking the whole weekend.

'Raving & Drooling', and 'You Gotta be Crazy"... later with lyrical modifications, renamed 'Sheep' and 'Dogs' on the Animals LP.
I was there. What a trip. The quadraphonic sound was so incredible you were absolutely immersed in the sound. This concert still haunts me. It literally blew my mind.
I had almost forgotten the quad sound, it was almost sonicly overwhelming at times.

Almost 20 years ago, at 19, I experienced that track for the first time, on lsd with my friends, and ever since that song just sends me.. I think I’d probably weep hearing/seeing that live. lol
@@nikolademitri731listening to Echoes was a must for my friends when we would take lsd as teenagers in the mid 90s. We would lay in my best friends room and connect. He died tragically around that time and I went back into his room and grabbed his copy of Meddle we would listen to. Hearing it will always affect me deeply.
Nothing sounds like it today, also reverb radio, my old 66 AMC Ambassador DPL had it, that sounded cool af!

@@johnlomax2502 I didn't discover them until after The Wall came out. I wish I could have been around and old enough to watch these shows. I was born in '68 though and was only 11 years old when The Wall came out. I would have been 7 at this time.

For all those wondering and asking, I'm the guy that worked on the audio even though I didn't get any credit. Sadly, only a single amateur source was recorded by someone very near the stage, you can find the original recording here on TH-cam to understand my work on it. I hope I did the best to give you the experience of a true Pink Floyd show we never lived. The restored audio of the whole show is going to be released soon!

Other clips from the same era are either ok quality but only a few minutes long, or crap quality with shaky camerawork. This truly is an amazing find. Thank you to the filmer, editor, audio sync person, and everyone else involved in making this video what it is.

Let’s take a moment to think about how many reels of film this person was carrying with them to record this. 8mm can only record like three minutes of film at a time, so this person is reloading and filming at a rate that’s commendable.
Yes, this was extremely difficult at the time. I think Speedy brought in nine reels, not easy to get through security! And his filming is spectacular too! In focus, not very shaky... well done, Speedy
There was virtually no security that day .The police were told to stand down for the show. No search at the gate, we were literally running to the field to secure best seating. I went so fast through the turnstile that I not only got my half of my ticket but also the whole ticket from the guy behind me. Still have the tickets. Cheers. @@patricksommer3971
Petite réflexion sur les possibilités de tournages à cette époque ( réflexions personnelles de mes propres expériences)
A l'époque il y avait déjà des caméras "double 8mm" ou "double super 8mm" pouvant enregistrer sans retournement de la bobine plus de 15 minutes (30mt. 16mm-8mm / 7,5 mt 16mm-8mm = 4x 3,4 minutes soit environ 15 minutes de tournage dans coupure.)
Il y avait même des caméras double super 8mm équipées d'un chargeur de 60 mts 16mm ( soit 2 x 60mt en super 8, 2 x 30 minutes de tournage avec 1 renversement du chargeur )
Des modèles Pathé Webo avec des moteurs mécanique ou électrique, une Canon tout électrique avec bobine 16mmm soit 2 x 30 Mt super 8, une Elmo avec chargeur 30mt., soit 2 x 30 Mt. Double Super 8, électrique et même une Paillard Bolex 16 MM transformée en 2x 8mm avec chargeur possible de 60 mts (soit 2 x 60 Mt. 8mm)
Je les connais et je les ai toutes testées en tant que photographe, ceci entre 1966 et 1972.
J'étais grand fan de ces caméras et des enregistreurs portatifs son (Uher, Akai et autres)
Le plus gros problème restait le son. Aucun synchronisme à la prise de vues entre l'image et le son. Il fallait enregistrer à part sur un magnétophone à bande magnétique 6,5mm et sur batteries, puis faire synchroniser la bande son avec celle du film, ceci grâce à l'emploi de certains projecteurs qui avaient cette capacité de couplage et lecture simultanée de la bande magnétique (Eumig, Sonic, Bolex, etc).
Plus tard on a pu coller sur la bande film une piste magnétique et faire le montage son directement avec le projecteur, des modèles sophistiqués et assez coûteux comme Beaulieu (le haut de gamme et même en stéréo !) , un autre, très haut de gamme fut le Fuji avec bobine 360 mts (film super 8), possibilité d'enregistrement du son en stéréo sur la bande magnétique collée au film, lampe Xenon super puissante pour projection dans des grandes salles, télécommande électrique des fonctions, etc ) . J'en ai utilisé un pour un spectacle de 55 minutes incluant 4 projecteurs dias 24x36 en fondu enchaînés, ce projecteur film, le tout synchronisé par un enregistreur professionnel Revox, 2 pistes son + 1 piste de synchronisation.
Pas simple, même très ardu, mais on y arrivait après des senaines de travail....
Il fallait s'accrocher mais déjà à cette époque on pouvait faire des miracles avec un matériel spécial déjà disponible.

This is absolutely incredible, there's GOTTA be hundreds of rolls of film in attics, storage units, and garages across the world of Pink Floyd in the mid 70's, everyone who brought their camera to a show and forgot about the footage should seriously make it their mission to find the footage they took, this needs to be a movement.

@@mclovinpo Hey man thanks so much! I'm just any another PF fan, but a bit more dedication involved. I try to do this stuff as a hobby, and I have tons of things I need to finalize and post but most of them are shitty VHS rips. It's really, really hard and annoying to work on those. I finished this new Hamilton film in 2 weeks, and it's 7 times the length of an average PF 8mm...it just goes to show that I need a good film and a good scan to complete something.
Yah until Roger or David get the Copywright Cops onto it !

I was there! I remember so much about this concert! After walking across the bridge from Niagara Falls NY to NF Ontario we took a train to Hamilton on Friday afternoon. Craziest party ever Friday night and then the show was Saturday. I remember that explosion at the beginning of Have A Cigar like it was yesterday. We were also right outside the stadium when they blew up the scoreboard long after the concert had ended! This was an experience of a lifetime! Someday I'll write out the entire story! LOVE THIS VIDEO!

Never thought i'd live to see live footage from '75, but i'm so happy I did. As a 22 year old dude, I get to get a glimpse of what it was like seeing them live back during their peak. This is absolute gold, good work to everyone involved!
I was 15 years old in 1975. I then lived in the city of Osh in Kyrgyzstan, which was then part of the USSR. Western rock music was banned in the USSR and we got the records of great bands. Recordings came to us through older friends - students who studied in Moscow and Leningrad. They recorded vinyl discs on tape and brought them to us in the provinces. So in 1975-1976, one of the students of Moscow brought several records to Osh, including Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon, Queen - A night at the opera. Nazareth - Hair of the dog and other. Since then these albums are among my favorite albums.
Wow, what a crazy story from back in the "cold war" days! I was only 3 and 4 years old in 1975. In 1993 I went to three Pink Floyd shows in a row. The tour supporting Division Bell. I did see them twice after that and Rodger Watters once.

I was there on that unique and unforgettable day 47 years ago! On the right side of the stadium, a few rows back from where the video was shot. I have a couple of faded photos and have listened to the audio but.....Never thought I would see video footage! Thanks to all involved in the filming, restoration and to you who posted this.

I worked for CPI in the 70s and spent the week producing this incredible gig. The roadies did, indeed, detonate all their leftover pyrotechnics after the show which did demolish the score board. What hasn’t been mentioned are all the windows of the houses across from the stadium. Their road manager spent a lot of time handing out cash. I’m in my 70s now and still listen to Dark side of the moon.

My mother's employer Mcintyre Electric of Hamilton was contracted to do the wiring. I was given a backstage pass and told to keep out of sight. Finding my friends as they let in the horde in was a challenge. The concert was fabulous.

Born 71 been a fan most my life but too young to see these concerts- didn’t start going to see them until 87 and onward - all those shows had multiple musicians and backups - this is just 4 dudes banging out this complex and rich music on the spot - hard to comprehend- thank you for this never thought I’d get to see this raw footage an amazing gift !

I was 18, Steve Mihalich, with my girlfriend Sue Beanland. I have cherished this memory until now Dec 7, 2023. We snuck in Mateus thanks to Sue who was not searched. With Cindy Thornberry and her bf Clyde. We just graduated grade 13 at Sir Wilfred Laurier HS on Quigley Rd that has been torn down a few years ago. Greatest time ever. Thanks Sue, you were an amazing girlfriend. Sorry your parents hated me for taking you to it.

I managed to see them twice, in 1977 and 1980 as a young teen. But the 1977 concert stands out because we were a few rows from the stage at the old Philadelphia Spectrum. My older brother was friends with a guy in the Marines who was also a major drug dealer. He got these great seats and the three of us saw an incredible concert during the Animals tour.
At one point, when David came out, sat in a chair and performed "Wish You Were Here", someone lobbed a cherry bomb or ashcan on stage near him. When it exploded, David stopped playing, paused, and calmly said "Will you please refrain from throwing explosives on stage? Thank you". The crowd cheered wildly. That was the 1970s (in Philly no less). Today the bands would walk off and the concert would be over.
Afterwards, my brother and his Marine dealer friend, both who were tripping on mescaline during the show, needed me to confirm for them that they did not hallucinate the explosion on stage during Gilmour's acoustic set.
To this day, after countless concerts over the decades, those are still the best seats I ever had for a show.
Wow! This is phenomenal. Great quality video and audio. And the fact that there is so little quality Floyd film footage from this era, makes it all the more valuable. I was at this show with 4 friends. I was 20 at the time and drove cab to put myself through school. As soon as my shift was over at 3am, we immediately headed to Hamilton in my buddy’s Dodge Valiant. We partied the day away with so many cool people we met for the first time. When the gates opened we were able to secure a great spot about 30yds from the stage. Loved the show. As one of the CHUM FM jocks of the day, Dave Marsden, used to say “Nothing can surpass Pink Floyd in concert”. He wasn’t wrong. One of the best days of my life. Speedy, thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this. The memories flooding in right now are overwhelming.
My brother was there and he said the gatekeepers /ticket takers got overwhelmed and anybody that wanted to just barged right in. After the concert some fans tore up the astro turf and took home pieces as souvenirs. Didn't Floyd or the fans also blow up the scoreboard/clock?? That might have been the last concert that Ivor Wynne Stadium hosted because of all the mayhem, lol. I wish I was born 10 years earlier.
Zeeek1, I don’t remember the scoreboard being destroyed, but it was 47yrs ago and between that and all the various substances available, a lot of it is fuzzy. I do remember how chaotic it was when the gates opened. We just tore for the front as fast as we could. The locals were pissed (Ivor Wynne was located right smack in the middle of a residential neighbourhood) before and after the show with the crowds. Probably with the loud music during show too. I’m sure these things and all the other chaos emanating from the venue made one of, if not the last concert held there. Didn’t matter, it was one of the best times of my life.
@@djknox2 NO ONE knew the Animals/WYWH tunes because they weren't recorded yet! Floyd used to take around songs on the road to work them around before officially recording and releasing them.. The lyrics and sections were modified.
My first Floyd concert was 11 days earlier at the Nassau Coliseum. Echoes was a dream come true!

@@krystbudziak9992 thank goodness that general admission free-for-all nonsense has pretty much ended. I almost passed out from the crunch at a Genesis concert during that period. If I had fallen I would have been trampled to death. Not long after eight people died at a Who concert in Cincinnati under the same conditions. I thought "Man, that could have been me." After that tragedy, security has tightened, and I believe the general admission surge has become a thing of the past. Of course ticket prices have risen 800% and we've all gotten older, which has something to do with the less rebellious behavior at PF related concerts these days.
Im 24 and im getting into old bands my family liked growing up and pink floyd has astonished me , and its even me amazing that the is real footage from 50 years ago for me to see how amazing they were , thank you for the upload!!
You should check out their HD video Live in Pompeii. It's not an actual concert, but it's so mesmerizing.

We drove from Toronto to see this concert. I've attended many concerts since then and this one ranks as my all time favourite. We manoeuvred the stands and made our way onto the field and ended up about 30 feet from the stage. Alcohol induced watermelon, shrooms and a Player's pack filled with doobies were on the menu. The Hamilton police were kept quite busy that day. LOL. The good ole days. A day I relish and will always remember as long as I can.
I was there and it was absolutely brilliant!!!!!! The previous week I was in Buffalo at Rich Stadium to see a full day concert with Yes as the headliners. WOW!!!! 2 great concerts in one week. God!!!!! The 70's was a joy and a privilege to have grown up during this era of incredible music. I was a huge prog rock fan, so I saw all those bands when they came to our area and when we were able to afford to go to a lot of them. Thank-you for posting this great event. It brought back many fond memories for me.
I was at both concerts too. I was 15 and were my first two big named concerts. It was Yes with Ace, J Geils Band and Johnny and Edgar Winter. Pink Floyd show is my favorite of all time.

Nick Mason such an understated player - very fluent he keeps it all moving forward and never gets in the way of the song. It’s live recordings like this where you really hear what he could do.

Myself and my friends were there as well. It was a fantastic concert. The week before, we were in Buffalo at Rich Stadium to see an all day concert with YES as the headliners. 2 great concerts in one week. WOW!!!! Some excellent times, back in the day when you could afford to go to see the bands you love.

This is soo AWESOME! I was at this show! I was probably 20-30 ft to the left of the guy shooting this video! Truly one of the greatest concerts I've ever attended. So cool!
Day after I graduated HS in JUN 75, living in NW, CT, drove to Long Island and saw Them perform. The mirrored half sphere with the blades on it, during the show, was elevated and a spotlight off to one side illuminated it as it was spinning. The optical effect, I was riding a beam of light and being drawn into the sphere, with a little help from Columbian Gold.
Very heartfelt kudos to EVERYONE who let us in the stadium and watch this EPIC SHOW. It is almost impossible to find footage of The Pink Floyd performances in the 70s. I saw them in Chicago at Soldier Field in '78 during The Animals tour. I still kick myself for not bringing my 35mm Pentax with me like I usually did for shows. Watching the pigs floating around the stadium by the famous Soldier Field columns just blew my mind. This footage brought back many happy memories and I thank you from the bottom of my heart!!! Shine On.😊

I was 15 and it was INCREDIBLE! Thank you for this footage it truly is a gem! I was hoping at some point something like this would surface & it was worth the wait! We were about a third of the way back on the floor dead centre. It’s very cool to see it again, it’s all coming back to me, the details. My girlfriend and I walked around Ivor Wynne Stadium the night before just to catch the vibe and hangout & people were camping out and having a great time! It was so exciting just to be present. We thumbed to a party where our friends were on Hunter Street & everyone was higher than a kite when we arrived, that I remember. That was early morning the day of the concert! People partied the entire day before in anticipation of the show. Acid (I was too terrified to even try), lots of weed though, and I recall so many drugs being sold & passed around at the show. Very memorable, I still have my ticket stub from the show & have seen Floyd or the boys individually many times over the years. Superb that this is out there for all us fans. Pink Floyd & Dark Side of the Moon has always been my favorite, an anthem concept album, just spectacular! Thanks Speedy & all who had a hand in putting this together. It is much appreciated by this longtime fan❤
i was there also 18 yrs old , they had quad sound speakers on all 4 corners of stadium and at end crashed this plane onto stage from one corner guided by rope .Sound was incredible and all residents lost their milk next morning for those that had to stay the night (all Buzzed ) .This was Dark side of Moon Tour Incredible !!!

I went to this concert. I was from Hamilton. Was a fantastic time. Stelco blast furnaces opening in the evening adding to the special effects.
Unbelievable. Almost a holy grail was found. What a shame no concert of that time was recorded by the band.

@@nigelpisswater484 as far as I know they feared bootleging and they wanted zero press. They played their own game without any PR that was not managed by themselves. What was a great strategy in the 70ties is now a sad fact.
@@0gkmedia0 I heard the same thing. Most bands in the 70's feared bootlegs unfortunately. Any bootlegs from that time period were horribly looking and sounding but bands were still afraid of it.
@@nigelpisswater484 -- The "Animals" tour video exists. It's just sitting in the vault because Waters will not let it be released due to his pissing match with Gilmour. Same for "The Wall". The early talks regarding the recently remixed "Animals" including finally releasing live footage, but the liner notes dispute nixed it.

Always a privilege to get 70s Floyd footage. I was always curious about the live Floyd experience when the band was in its prime. At the same time, technology had not caught up with the complexity of their music, and you couldn’t have the kind of spectacle that Waters and Gilmour would eventually have after the band broke up. By the 90s, the technology was available to make the music look like it sounded, but the true Floyd had already ended.

I was there. The acid on the street at the time was 'Alarm Clock Blotters' (Coincidence ? I think not !). As we approached the stadium the piles of garbage got deeper and deeper - lots of empty booze bottles/cans ... It was a party atmosphere - the folks in front of us had smuggled in a watermelon spiked with vodka. Of course the explosion at the end of the show was legendary - Hamilton banned large rock concerts of this sort for many years afterwards (ear drums and windows shattered ...).
I love Gilmour's live guitar tone from this era....it's just fantastic.

This is fabulous! I was 16 and I was there with friends. When concerts were great fun. The whole neighbourhood around the stadium was partying and friendly. Cost 8.50. I've never seen footage of this concert. Many thank yous.

Ya, Like Dolph said very few people have seen any of these videos we are releasiing. Spent the last 30+ year in a box store on 8mm. These old reels are starting to get real old. Soon even the undiscovered reels will be no good. I would hate to think what would have happened to these reels if we had not start to digitize them when we did. Sure, it is not the whole thing. (Duh!). But it is amazing to have these clips - it gives a real feel for what these iconic shows were like to the many of us who were to young to be there.
I wish it would've been possible to record full shows on 8mm! But this is already a whole lot, close to 1/4 of the show

Oh man wow. This is brilliant. I can’t believe I can see them like this. I’ve never been able to picture myself being at a show like this back then like I can with this now.
This film is a really good reason to love TH-cam. Being a half assed Floyd fan, I had just assumed that post Syd they toured with a bevy of side men. I much prefer seeing Pink Floyd as a 4 piece. And David Gilmour really stands out. (take that Roger) His use of effects to fill out the landscape is streets ahead of the time period and singular in its execution. This film has definitely given me a new appreciation. Plus it's just so great to see the audience, the hairstyles and their expressions.

So interesting , how they "proof tested" live without a net, most of their classic tracks in front of audiences before hand, and worked & shaped them into the form they would eventually turn into on vinyl !!
Yep. There was an early version of Dogs in this video. 2 years before release on Animals.
Aside from the surprising quality of this amateur production, I am struck by seeing people actually listening and paying attention at a concert. What a beautiful moment in time, and how wonderfully captured. 🏆
I’ve been following the Pink Floyd footage saga for a few years now. I’ve loved all of the footage that has been able to be remaster and released on TH-cam. However, nothing has come even close to this. 30 mins of 4k footage from the 1975 tour with crisp audio to go along with it is incredible! Wish I could have been alive to see those shows but this is incredible work!

I was there too. Drove up from Buffalo with a few friends. Met some pretty cool people and drank some homemade beer. My friend Mike remembered the beer. I must have had too good of a time. It was a great concert.
