I believe sitchin was absolutely correct on alot of points of interpretation and translation...where I feel sitchin was wrong is that he didn't challenge his accusers...but given his age and prestige he had so much important things to do but except challenges...he put it out there and it's up to us to figure it out

    • @Dragoderian
      @Dragoderian 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Why do you believe that, when real experts right here just demonstrated exactly why Sitchin has no idea what he's talking about?

    • @mikeevans4051
      @mikeevans4051 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

@@Dragoderian why didn't they do it why he was alive ? Furthermore what have they proven wrong besides a couple of words? His whole hypothesis and theories and at least 90% of his translations are accurate ...discoveries have been made off of his translations alone ! For example....the 2nd chromosome fusion, which proves artificial sophisticated scientific "tampering" which he translated and hypothesized...the dawn of civilization started in South Africa, over 1m stone structures in 100+ square miles of stone ruins in that region dated to over 150k yrs....and what science is saying now that earth was hit by a planet sized planet that made earth what it is today and made the asteroid bekt what it is ! I mean damn if all that checks out give the man a couple mistakes along the way...nobodies perfect ..not Einstein , tesla, musk, Darwin, or God himself, everybody fucks up....but at least he git it right most of the time ! Sitchin’s idea lines up EXACTLY what Moses wrote in Genesis:
“Sons of God” mated with “human females”. Who are sons of god? Someone who came from the sky!! How does anyone not interpret it the same way with our knowledge of alien visitors? Governments are even admitting we’ve been visit! INCLUDING OURS!!!

18:20 It reminds me of when I was in 1ère - that would be the second of the three high school years in France - a teacher told us something like: "Take a circle, the area of the circle is your knowledge and its circumference is your awareness of your ignorance. Hence the more you know, the more you realize how little you know".

"You cant know what you don't know"; and both of you admit your studies are narrow and very specific, and that you must remain cautious... "And so, Sitchin is wrong, just wrong."
As myself being a retired Academic, I suspect you are still employed by the "Professionals", who would dismiss you and destroy your career if you even entertained Sitchin's work beyond being critical of him. And you will be reprimanded if you deter from the accepted Narrative.
But you are young and inexperienced and wisdom comes with life.
Just remember that your mind is like a parachute; if its not fully open, you will have a tough landing.
If you don't start deep and very wide cross-cultural studies that involves Religions, Geopolitics, Archeological (outside of Mesopotamia), you are basing your opinion on the center puzzle piece and the rest are on the floor.
One of these days you will remember my comment and have an epiphany.
Hint: Some of our most notable philosophers wrote in their "not so popular memoirs", in all 4 corners of the earth; have hinted to this alternate History. They hid their pondering and questioning of mainstream academics.
Professional Academics = the most closed minded and naive minds. You will see this one day. Our world is nothing what you believe.

In the ruins of the Roman town at Tel Aphek, located near Tel Aviv, there is a 3 inch long gouge in one of the paving stones in the Roman road caused by a bulldozer. So, while bulldozers perhaps should not be used in archaeology, they have been. On the other extreme, there is an inscription on a limestone stele in Las Milpas (the one near the Chan Cheech Lodge, not the more famous Las Milpas further north) on which a quarter inch of detail was broken off by a badly wielded toothbrush.

Regarding “Hovindism”, Christians are trained in the “Gish Gallup” technique and Rhetoric. I met Dr. Gish once upon a time. Seemed rather unassuming, but I was one of “them” and was not in the running to date his daughter.
When people have used that technique I no longer try and stop them. I let them ramble until they take a breath, ask them politely if they are through and then if “yes’ then I ask them to restate their initial question. They usually can’t remember. Oy!

And to your point...sitchin never claimed that civilization sprang up out of nowhere..in his numerous books he stated that mankind...humans..were 150,000 + yrs old and that there were intelligent prehumans 250k yrs ago...what he said was in sumer is where the cities of the gods were and there were whole cities of giants and cities of humans all over Mesopotamia..and that civilization as we know it with complete language and structure started in sumer and spread outward...and carbon dating is flawed beyond belief...and different factions with there own agendas try to say this place or these people are the first ppl and use any kind of dating they can to fit their agenda....sitchin was no scientist and didn't use carbon dating he simply used the tablets and carvings to present his evidence of advanced beings coming to earth and creating and maintaining human kind.....all these religious ppl and scholars hated him for it and tried at every point to discredit him....but the evidence is there at every turn

As a Hungarian, I can tell, that the scientific consensus is that Hungarian is part of a Finno-Ugric language family. (closest relatives are in Siberia, ex. Mansi) There are some who believe in it, but it was never claimed by serious linguists that Sumerian and Hungarian are related. Some delusional people say that Hungarian and Japanese, or Hungarian and Native American languages are related. Although the Sumerian-Hungarian relationship is a pretty fascinating theory, as it also includes that Jesus was actually a prince of the Parthian Empire and somehow the Bible was originally written in Hungarian, and Hungarians are descended from ancient Mesopotamia. Or at least one book claims that.
Maybe I will read it for the giggles once. Must be just as "serious" as the book you are reading currently. 😁
Edit: btw this is such a ludicrous idea, I thought no one outside of Hungary has ever heard about it. 😂😂😂

@@DigitalHammurabi Yeah, that would be great! Are you guys on Facebook? I am a hobbyist that went back for his BA in Linguistics, and looking to get my MA in Assyriology. As far as Sumerian is concerned, I started learning it about 4 years ago, starting with Hayes manual, then went on to Edzard and Jagersma. After that I checked out Foxvog's grammar and Huber's monograph on OB understanding of Sumerian. I go through monographs on Sumerian texts, and am always looking to expand my exposure. My best ancient language is Akkadian, though I have next to no experience with the Neo-Babylonian dialect (just what was in Nissenen's collection of prophecy related texts). I am currently working on Eblaite.

      @@@CadaverSplatter,
Babylonian Pis^ar ( pishaar ) texts , to be exact , they were the first claim of monotheism institution through their claims of Dreams been messages of prophecies , unlike Sumerian and mainly Assyrian Visions ( which took places during day times when the king or the person was awake ) .
the ancient Babylon was a physical location where the Gods built it for their needs it is still called in Iraq ( where I am from ) as BAB-EL in Arabic , from Sumerian BAB-ILLI .
the Elamites invaded Babel after the fall of Akkad ( Agade ) , the North Assyrians ( my Ancestors ) did not like that . the 1000 year war began .
the Babylonian dialect was made of both Mesopotamian and Urdu mix , just like you have English of England vs American English ( the word for example Colour in England is written Color in American English both are Latin in origin from Colur to mean the value of light spectrum reflected from object that gives its unique appearance ) but in Mesopotamian the Cuneiform was made of 5 wedge styles ( mainly the Ancient Assyrian ), vs the Urdu 4 , the Sumerian was made of only 3 wedge styles, the Sumerian unlike Mesopotamian and all other languages ? was made of pictograph and was syllabic in writing . all others had phonic writing .
I don't believe in all Babylonian ancient Pis^aar texts , because they were all manipulated from the Assyrian and Sumerian original texts regarding faith and cosmogonyand the affairs of Men and Gods and Gods been seen as Men like beings not as some super beings , vs Babylonian claims of a singular eternal god named mardukh that created the universe .
I suggest you do not waste your precious time on that .

Due to my interest in Sumer I stumbled across you two. The information is interesting your format is a little long. I think you could cover more information in much less time and keep your viewers interested and wanting to come back for more knowing they will get the information they want in a reasonable amount of time. Maybe beer is not the best drink when doing a webcast, the belching is a bit distracting. Anyway I like what you are doing. The hallway analogy to knowledge is excellent. I get very annoyed when people are at the "know enough to be dangerous" level and try to convince me they have it all figured out. If one can't recognize they are at that level then they certainly have no business trying to convince other's they know of that which they are speaking.

When someone writes something down, especially in the Ancient times.
It can be almost impossible to try to guess what that person was thinking and
what context they really mean. You know, go back and read something you wrote
as a kid or High school student and ask yourself. Do you really know what you were
talking about? I bet for older people it's much harder to do that than you think. Heck,
even writing text online sometimes people take what you write way out of context.
To say THIS is what they meant and THIS is what the language says. I personally think
you can learn English, understand the alphabet and you can understand structures of
sentences and on and on. However, you can't really understand what the person even
really meant when you attempt to read it. Sitchin may be wrong and he is definitely right.
It really depends. It is not a closed thing, also what is important to remember here is,
even if he isn't 100% right. Can you disagree Sitchin didn't get people interested in ancient
history? That could be so dry and as dusty as the sands in which they are buried if not for
    his interpretations?

This is such a great video! I have indulged in the stupidity of Ancient Aliens a time or two in the past, and it can be somewhat entertaining for a while to watch, if you watch it with the understanding that all of it is pretty much junk science. AA has the same issues the creationist "scientists" have regarding starting with a conclusion, and searching for evidence to support your preconceived conclusion. The sad part is, I know there are people out there who watch this and go, "WOW!" And believe everything they say, despite it not making much sense when you think about it.

I completely understand your ethical reluctance to go further than your scholarship strictly permits. I might recommend that you look into Richard Carrier's use of Bayes' Theorem in his book, "Proving History." I'm not entirely comfortable with it, and he could be accused of taking it too far, but I was trained to be a historian and we were taught to use probabilities in judging historicity, and the Bayes' Theorem seems more scientific.
If the Sitchen and von Dummkopf fans persist in misusing If ➞ Then, the probabilistics of the theory could, and maybe should, be used to counter their spurious claims.

NO. Hungarian is not similar to Sumerian at all. The only thing I've seen them use to support the claim is sets of random words that look similar. They are quite hilarious really. They make every possible mistake imaginable, including mixing Sumerian and Akkadian words...

We did get to the point - it's a livestream for us to have fun with our viewers. If you want something more serious, we have a whole channel full of academic lectures and interviews for you to choose from.

Well Sitchin translated earlier than anyone else, before the scholars were able to translate. Also, this video is pretty boring.

This is so hard to watch!! So much time is spent on this mentioned rambling and this poor scientist gets put down in the very first sentence connected to the topic!
So, I'm out and obviously not subscribing!
You're more concerned with the number of subscribers that the topic and that's wrong.
Product placement and mentioning the payment; joke or not joke - was embarrassing! Bye, bye!

Well, I’m a woman, for starters.
The video you’re commenting on is an unscripted, spontaneous conversation between my husband and I. It’s not supposed to be short and sweet - he has MS, and speaking off the cuff is hard for him. If you want something more consider then we have many videos that are scripted, which means fewer tangents.
Our angle is that we love the ancient Near East and have been lucky enough to have extensive graduate training in the area, and we want to share what we know with an interested audience who haven’t had the educational opportunities that we have had.
