Rosie, when I first came across your channel I thought I was in some altered universe. Like what the heck is this girl doing?? I’ve come to really admire your creativity and this video is showing your intelligence and humor.I’m loving it. Keep up the good work!
Rosie, I just wanted to thank you for starting this channel. It has come to mean so much to me. I’ve learned a ton and have been inspired to begin collage, too. This q&a was so great. I love hearing more about you and your inspirations.
Thanks for answering my question in your video. I, too, have a hobby, although mine is of making junk journals from scratch. I don't sell mine either but abandon them in Little Free Libraries. I've seen Little Libraries where art is abandoned as well as books and journals, and you might consider that for some of your collages. It's hard at first to let your 'children' go but I imagine the surprised looks on people's faces when they discover one of my journals and it gives me so much happiness to know I am giving something away in a society where practically nothing is for free.
LOVE this idea! I left a bunch of graphic design books in a Little Free library once and the next time I checked back there was the cutest note from two sisters who had stumbled upon them and were so happy to learn from them.
HI! I love your videos ! I always forget your name , so when someone asks what I'm watching , I usually say "It's the collage lady!" I've been doing digital collages for awhile as a hobby, but I really want to get back to the old fashioned way of doing it , cut and paste, with paper and scissors and glue, I miss that . I went to college to study art as my major, but trying to find a job was impossible. But you came along and inspired me to get back at it. I don't care if I make any money from doing it, I enjoy it and it's therapy for me too. This video answered a lot of the questions I had. OH! I almost forgot, there's a word for what you often do in your work, juxtaposition. Can't wait for more videos, I loved the dollar store challenge and all the rest. Thanks for doing what you do, collage lady!
I am a graphic designer // collage artist too, for the exact same reasons! We even have a lot of the same timeline - I started analog collaging during the pandemic because I needed something else to do other than stare at a screen. One of my favorite parts of my artistic process is mailing them to my friends as surprises. Especially during the darkest days of the pandemic it was fun to send fun surprises in the mail 🤗
This was great! Soothing, inspiring, joyful. I appreciate you generosity of spirt in sharing your all aspects of your creative process and journey. Thank you.
I'm waiting for the book! I am inspired by your work. I make art full time and only came back to collage work after watching a few key youtube artists. Thanks so much!
Hi Rosie, love your channel. I went to college for photography, and of course had to do the required classses of drawing, oil painting, 3 D art, etc as an art student. I learned photoshop, too, as an essential skill. I’m retired now, and have found physical collage art to be so satisfying as opposed to digital art. I have had Wacom tablets and digital apps for drawing on my iPad, but so much prefer the hands on art as it is so soothing and satisfying. I like cutting out and arranging collage pieces.I found your channel and I have to say thank you for freeing me a bit more with my collage pieces. I found in recent years I was starting to treat some clippings or images I cam across as “so precious” that I wasn’t willing to “sacrifice” them to a piece. Watching you these past months has helped me to loosen up and just go with it a lot more. Thank you, you are an inspiration. I love your quirky surreal art style.
Omg...your collage space is so tidy.I am just amassing more and more books that I will never use!So interesting to hear your replies...I didn't realise how pressured you are...but it was only you who has inspired me to collage!
I love all your videos, but this one was really great! Thanks so much for sharing yourself and your art with us! Earlier this week, I decided that "maybe I'll try putting together a clip art book with the types of images I like for collage"! Ha-ha! Now that I know you willl be doing it, I'll just wait on yours! My Photoshop skills are minimal at best! No pressure!
This episode was great! You gave some interesting insight on your life, your history and your interests. It was nice to find out more about you as a person. I was shocked though that you have been doing collage for such a short time. I absolutely love your work and I always look forward to seeing you create new images.
Thanks Rosie. As for storage for cut out pieces, I bought some plastic trays - kind of like cafeteria trays and I use them to separate collections. I have birds and other flying things in one, people in another. Because they are low profile and all the same, they can be stacked for storage.
I’ve been doing collage , glue books, & journals for a long time and have collected an absurd amount of collage fodder lol. I think I’ve tried every file system or organization system ever. It is just a busy, messy art form but so worth the rewards. It’s so relaxing for me. The whole process is really. I love from harvesting a magazine, to fussy cutting , which I used to absolutely hate. I enjoyed your q & a session tho. You’re a fun person to watch and get to know
Thank you for your excellent sharing on your TH-cam videos. I love listening and watching your process and final pieces. I’ve been watching many, starting today. Your voice is calming, your creativity is amazing and inspiring. I just started collating. I never thought of surreal art. After watching a few of your videos I made my first surreal collage. It was so much fun. Thanks for sharing!
Great Q&A. I am amazed at how you can make your surreal collages seemingly so effortlessly. I use DecoArt Duraclear Satin Varnish (it's much like acrylic matte medium) or Windsor Newton Spray Fixative. The varnish could possibly make the different papers buckle or wrinkle, but the spray should not. Your idea for a curated book of images sounds amazing. Putting a bit of pressure on yourself to keep your art practice going is ok I think. I do the same with my art practice, but of course pushing yourself to create when you're not in the mood will not result in a happy time or a nice creation. If you feel like cutting back on your frequency of videos, you should, or maybe you could split a video with two collages into two videos and upload them over two weeks? But don't stop! :)
Awesome!! Thank you so much for the sealing suggestions :) I totally agree, you never want to not be happy while creating. Not feeling it yet, but always trying to be aware.
Thank you for the great Q&A! I look forward to Thursdays and watching your collage videos. I do hope you will continue to upload your collages videos every Thursday, but I do understand life gets hectic sometimes and you need to do what is best for you. ❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing your watercolour and other drawings art work... =) And for showing your dual office space. =) That was a fun story about the cat. =)
Hello Rosie, thank you so much for this great Q&A! I love your videos. You are sooo inspiring. You are so natural you are in front of camera! I just started making collages. I am the one with questions about copyright regarding the images we use. Thanks for talking about this. It’s getting clearer. I would not be at ease to sell my collages either. For now. I am selling my paintings, but this is different. I never thought about sealing a collage... something new. :) Once again thank you!
It is so nice hearing about you artwise and personally. I have now done about 34 collages kicked off after watching one of your videos! It is addicting and I can lose all sense of time. It's easy to do in a small space as opposed to the acrylic abstract art I also make. I may send one or two to share. Mine are more realistic I would say. I just love when things come together! I use a notebook with pages just like yours. I, too, have some repetitive elements I use. I love your kitty! She is a real cutie. I just lost my 20 yr.old cat. I have another and two dogs and wish you many of them in the future. Thanks so much for sharing.🔸(✂️)denise
I know this is a difficult ask but would you be up for making a collage with some of your own older art work? If it's difficult for you, you don't have to. Great video! It's nice to know more about you :)
Hi Rosie- I so love your youtube channel and I am learning so much from you, so thank you for sharing your talent. I did a silly collage that I love the concept of but it didn't really work and I wonder if you would critique it and help me understand what I could have done differently. Is there a way for me to send it to you?
Oh thank you so much! I would love to take a look--the best way to contact me is to DM me on Instagram or email me at eastofhoney@gmail.com . I don't check either of these very often so it might be a day or two till I get back to you.
Question: if your TH-cam blows up, would you ever consider doing YT full time and quit your day job or do you want things to stay as is? Also, I LOVE your channel and have binged every video over the last few days!! 💗
There are one book: Cut that Out , the artist is dr. Me or something like this, i believe he made a full year making one collage for day and he put it in the book. I would love have a book with your marvelous collage to inspire me without play youtube. I,m sure yo will do before or after. If you will do it please send too to Spain ❤ Thanks for be yourself Rossie
Hi there, I wanted to address your storage concerns. I too have been using those little cases and such, but I recently found some drawer organizers at Wal-Mart that are clear and stackable. Perhaps they could be useful to you with your collage storage as they come in different sizes so you can put more items in one or less items in another. I hope this is helpful to you. I love the ones I have. I sotre markers, glue, pens, pencils, ephemera...etc. Also, you have been an inspiration to me trying out new art. Thanks!
I’m 59 and I have never read, watched any movie of Alice in Wonderland, just has never appealed to me. I even love Johnny Depp but never saw his either.

What a great idea! I too leave art once in a while. You make me feel like doing it more often. Xmas is coming 🌲
LOVE this idea! I left a bunch of graphic design books in a Little Free library once and the next time I checked back there was the cutest note from two sisters who had stumbled upon them and were so happy to learn from them.
I absolutely love this idea.
That's a wonderful idea.
Great idea! I have also donated some journals to benefits for people in need.

Totally agree! So addicting. Oh no :( I am sorry for the loss of your cat. What an old age they lived to.
Maybe make a collage with the images you drew and painted?
Use Epson's Scan n Stitch instead of Photoshop's stitch function. Sooooo much easier.
Thank you so much Rosie, l to love the process and l can't part with my babies. Cheers 🇦🇺🐨👍👩🎨
I know this is a difficult ask but would you be up for making a collage with some of your own older art work?
If it's difficult for you, you don't have to.
Great video! It's nice to know more about you :)
Whoa I actually love this idea! I bet other people are going to mad in the comments haha. I will do this one day!
@@eastofhoney I'm glad you like the idea! Looking forward to your work and videos.

Tienes que hacer algo con todo ese cajón lleno de tu arte antes de que alguien te robe en casa 😅
I’m 59 and I have never read, watched any movie of Alice in Wonderland, just has never appealed to me. I even love Johnny Depp but never saw his either.
