Chopper is the biggest merchandising revenue-generating opportunity. They would never make it a role with a person with make-up. The best bet is to go in the direction of detective Pikachu or rocket raccoon. It would eat up a lot of their budget but it is the best way to do it. They could cut down on some of his forms to save money if necessary.

I disagree. A human kid actor with antlers and makeup would be the smartest way to take chopper. Then CGI his transformations. It won't be the little mascot character everyone wants and loves. But there's no way to make him super cute while trying to keep him realistic.
edit: to clarify: He wouldn't be super hairy in his child-human brain-point form. He would just be a kid with reindeer aesthetics.
@luffytaro-jg5ow grogu puppet would be the way but chopper emotes a lot, so it'll be a challenge either way.

Stone Ocean really went under the radar because of the batch release, it was a huge deal when it ended and practically no one talked about it.

I think they should do something like Detective Pikachu for Chopper or a very subtle mix of puppetry and CG. Having an actor wear prosthetics works for the Fishman, but live Chopper could be very uncanny valley.
The mock-up someone did of Chopper in the Detective Pikachu style is the best case scenario. The Sea King we've seen already gives me hope that they won't go too far towards realism.
Though for walk point they could just... have a reindeer. XD
with how much "whackier" the designs and sets are gonna get, i doubt they'd have the budget to do that for an extended period, which also means that chopper would barely be on screen
If they choose to just go with the more human look they can make him like the kid from the sweet tooth show. Definitely prefer the detective pikachu look but it might be too expensive
@gntyh1685 Chopper is pretty important though. I think a lot of the Paramcias in Alabasta could be done with practical effects barring Pell and Crocodile. So I think it could be done.

I think they can do all the way up through Alabasta in season 2 if they extend the season to 10-12 episodes. If season 1 is good enough they should easily get the $$ to do that.
You all forget is Netflix we are talking about, unless OP does some big, big numbers like Stranger Things season 2 will never see green light.
@@isaiuchiha1490 I'm not sure what kind of big number we are monitoring here, Stranger Things is not even the highest viewed show in Netflix to be exact it's hype is mostly out of good reviews for the series and One Piece is a huge IP to start with and the general audience reception is pretty good right now.

2 worlds I never imagined meeting I've been watching tekking101 for 5-6 years and Murphy for 2 and happy to add Jay to my list but until this year or so yalls content has not had to much overlap so this is just an amazing set up!

Im here for the Dark Merphy Arc. You guy mention getting big name actor in the show later on. I would love if all the Admirals were actually played by actors known for playing mobsters and gangster because all the admirals were inspired by actors know for playing yakuza members. If we do get a season two, I'm hoping brain point Chopper is played by a puppet and then human point Chopper is played by a man in a suit. In the recent Star Trek seasons, the Gorn have been played by both puppets and people in suits (babies and adults, respectively.) For the scene with Rogers execution, I hope we get references to characters like Doffy, Moria, and Crocodile. Like maybe we see a shot of a cigar in an alleyway with some kind of crocodile logo on it.
I think chopper must be a kid with props.

Star Wars and LOTR are the only movies I’ve ever felt attached to and I definitely went through a movie phase. Watched all the hipster cool movies and none of them left a mark. I may just be a Homer and a nerd. I don’t know why I’m typing this either

Tbh, getting shocked by not owning a TV is pretty weird to me. The last time i owned one was when i was 18. Now i’m 29 and i’m completely fine without it. I can watch everything i want on pc while filtering out the usual news about how many people died or were in an accident every single day.
I love how chaotically nerdy this stream was and I hope OPLA will do well. I have read 32 books so far this year.
Oh wow, really weird bit of knowledge that I have that pertains to something yall talked about. I have done Martial Arts (Taekwondo specifically) for about 17 years, and I can tell you that it is actually possible to do the kick that Sanji does across the water in the trailer. I would recommend looking up "Flying Sidekick" or "Jumping Sidekick" and you will see a lot of people do something very similar in videos. Now the wires make it look cleaner and keep everyone safe, but its not too outside of reality.
When Chopper gets introduced, he needs that detective Pikachu look or Sonic the hedgehog movie remake look

Joe Abercrombie is the best at coming up with book names. Before they are Hanged, A Little Hatred, The Wisdom of Crowds. Amazing book names.
The story structure really does seem to lend itself surprisingly well to live action pacing, when I think about it.
Season 1: Meeting Nami up through freeing her island from Arlong.
Season 2: Meeting Smoker/Vivi up through saving Vivi's country and earning Smoker's respect.
Season 3: Robin joins crew, Sky Island dives into her identity as an archeologist, and then end with Kuzan appearing and saying she'll betray them.
Season 4: Water7 and Enies Lobby, 'nuff said. Basically a continuation of Robin's arc from Season 3.
Actually excited. Each of these seasons sounds great. I hope it's successful enough to not be cancelled.

I just gotta say, they already thought about chopper for days. He’s a main character in season TWO. They had to have discussed it a lot already. They weren’t working thinking “we won’t get season 2”. They have to have confidence. So they thought about chopper. I think he’ll be a mix of puppets, cgi and a dude in a costume
I think they could do someone in a costume for distance or wide shots. Up-close live person Chopper might be sketchy.

I could see Baroque Works being split into two seasons. Where they reach Alabasta at the end of season 2 and all of season 3 is the Alabasta and post arc wrap up.

probably i'm in the minority, but i want the episode to be weekly, i like to have time to discuss the episodes with everyone as a community. it's always more fun if the community has time to talk about and make things like fanarts.

Well this is a show with pre-existing content. So weekly doesn't really work when there's no mystery. It's better all in one go. It's not like it's based on a book where you have to read stuff. It's based on manga and anime which you can just google and see.

Its why people talked a whoooooole bunch about episodic series like Better Call saul or House of Dragons rather than netflix shows that people only talk abouy during the week it drops and thats it like Stone Ocean
I mean if they had to go all the way it would take them at least 10 seasons to get to Wano, unless they are as successful as Stranger Things (if not more), they aren't gonna be able to go past Alabasta or Skypea. Also, later down the line, they have to deal with cover story arcs. Here's my rundown for the seasons (you have to ration roughly 4-5 minutes per chapter of content):
Season 1: East Blue Saga, 8 episodes ( equivalent to 1 Ep each for Romance Dawn, Orange Town, Syrup Village, 2 Eps each for Baratie and Arlong Park, and the finale at Loguetown and also Buggy and Koby cover stories are relevant).
Season 2: Alabasta Saga, 8-9 episodes (1 Ep each for Reverse Mountain/Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, 2 Eps for Drum Island, 4-5 Eps for Alabasta)
Season 3: Sky Islands Saga, 6-7 episodes (1.5-2 Ep for Jaya and the rest for Skypea. Also maybe Enel cover story) save the budget with a shorter season for the longer season next time.
Season 4: Water 7 Saga, 10 episodes (4.5 Ep for intro to Aokiji & Water 7, 4.5 for Enies Lobby, 1 EP for Post Enies Lobby), may be Ace Cover story?
Season 5: Thriller Bark, Saboady, and Amazon Lily, 6-7 episodes ( 4 Ep Thriller Bark, 2 Ep Sabaody, 1 Ep Amazon Lily), may be CP 9 cover story?
Season 6: Impel Down + Marineford, 6-7 episodes (2 Ep Impel Down, 3 Ep Marineford, 2 Ep Post Marineford, straw hat separation story)
Season 7: Fishman Island + Punk Hazard, 8-9 episodes (5 Ep Fishman Island, 4 Ep Punk Hazard), maybe an abridged Caribou cover story?
Season 8: Dressrosa, 8 episodes
Season 9: Whole Cake Island + Reverie, 8 episodes (2 Ep Zou, rest WCI and Reverie)
Season 10: Wano Country, 10 episodes (could cut down a lot of the bloat and shave it down to 8 episodes tbh), Germa 66 cover story.

Netflix is definitely going to drop it in bulk for the binge. They’re not risking people dragging the episodes week by week through the mud and want as many “hours watched” as possible I feel like more people will be willing to binge watch it over a weekend than be disappointed for 8 weeks
Week to week is better! That way people who are not familiar with one piece, can watch it without getting spoiled
It would be better, but that's not usually how these shows are released. Some shows will do two episodes at a time, which seems reasonable since you still have a month to watch.

What would you think if Shanks is the one who said it originally " that all best fighters call out thier fighting moves" so everyone influenced by shanks and luffy call out their moves.
A lot of the budget for season 1 was spent on the ships, they built them from scratch. In future season, since they already have them, they could divert that money towards something else
I think Laboon, Whiskey Peak, Little Garden & Drum Island would make a great 2nd Season because you would will get everything needed leading up to
Alabasta.
Alabasta & Jaya could be season 3 and Skypeia season 4

Netflix releases all the episodes at once for all their original content like Alice in Borderland, The Days, and Burn The House Down. The anime shows that you've mentioned like Bleach and Vinland Saga are not original Netflix shows, Netflix just bought the rights to stream them. These shows air weekly in Japan and Netflix releases them a day after they are broadcasted.
Okay but consider this: Muppet Chopper with heavy practical effects and a bit of CGI. It’d be the dream little reindeer man…
Mother's Basement thought the same thing. Plus, Netflix has worked with the Jim Henson company.
My plan was to watch one episode a day or a week, had no intentions of binging because like Merphy said, 'i would hate it'. I had to actually struggle not to binge the whole way through the first night. I could not turn it off. It WILDLY exceeded my expectations.

Unpopular opinion: If the live action One Piece series makes it to Thriller Bark, I want them to make the Thriller Bark season much scarier/horror movie-esque than it originally was in the manga. I just love scary movies.

My first exposure to him was Xelloss in Slayers, and a lot of people didn't like him, but I enjoyed him in that role.
I hadn't seen the interview with Oda and Iñaki and I thought Murphy was exaggerating about the emotion of it. I just watched it and definitely teared up.

Weekly releases are a better viewing experience. I love hearing people's theories on how the plot may play out, singing praises from the best scene this week, and anticipating the next one.
