Jason Kenny has won a seventh Olympic gold medal, storming ahead to claim the win in the men's keirin at Tokyo 2020. The legendary cyclist from Great Britain was in a league of his own in the final, moving early to win the race by 0.763 seconds. Kenny, whose wife Laura has also tasted gold at Tokyo 2020 to add to her four golds from previous Games, won his first-ever gold medal at Beijing 2008 with a victory in the team sprint. He has gone on to amass a further six more golds in a spectacular Olympic career.
Malaysia's Mohd Azizulhasni Awang - bronze medallist in Rio - took an impressive silver, with Harrie Lavreysen of the Netherlands winning bronze.
However, the victory belonged to Kenny, who became the first Briton to win seven Olympic golds in any sport with a special victory at the Izu Velodrome.

An almost unique moment as Kenny took his opportunity to go from the front ruined by poor camera work that was too tight on Kenny and didn't let you see the gap and drama behind, and whether Kenny was going to be caught. Cutting away and missing him cross the line was unforgivable. Amazing win from Kenny.

@@Daz555Daz Seriously. What Aussie will ever help out a Brit in anything? The Aussies even like flirting with Americans moreso nowadays than Britons.

Aussies would be the last of countries to help out a British athlete. I’d expect Iranian athletes to help more than an Aussie.

That Australian cyclist really did everyone behind him dirty. Kenny's win also felt cheap because he was only lucky to be in front of him.

@@banana7015 Oh, I understand. What I mean is that Kenny used all his skill and track craft to take advantage of a very poor draw in position #1 to take another gold medal. When Kenny made his break Glaetzer, the Australian rider was about 1 metre further back than he should have been. That's all. Kenny spotted that. The other riders refused to come over the top of Glaetzer, which allowed Kenny to make 40/50 metres. To call it "cheap" is a huge insult. Watch and understand. ;-)

@@macmccolgan5952 The riders behind Glaetzer were all at a disadvantage. They either didn't notice Kenny was already sprinting or couldn't risk it too soon by sprinting as well. Kenny clearly had an advantage by being in the lead. It felt cheap and easy because Kenny was the ONLY rider with an advantage here, and he won as a result. It wasn't a very exciting final match to watch. Imagine if Glaetzer hadn't pulled that stupid stunt of leaving such a huge gap and Kenny had still won; that is what I would call a victory. But, you know, you do you; I, for one, was not satisfied or thrilled by this victory because it was cheap and lame 😎
