- It is a new year which means it is time for the first Wildwoods Construction Update video of 2024.
This video will be a bit different since we will be visiting projects we haven’t talked about yet.
It’s a running joke that it is year that the current year is the most construction projects taking place in the wildwoods, but in reality, this is the most we have seen, trumping last year’s off-season.
The Madison Resort in Wildwood Crest has purchased the Royal Hawaiian the next block over and will combine it with the Oceanview Motel to make the largest resort in Cape May County. No matter which building you have your reservation in, you can use the amenities in both towers. Both of these buildings will be ready to go by Memorial Day Weekend .
The Wildwood Crest Lifeguard Station rehabilitation is going smoothly. The new roof is currently being framed out while new concrete was laid outside the building.
Demolition of the Ocean Sands motel is well underway with more than half of the motel fully removed. Their hope is to have the land completely cleared by the end of January so that work on the Tiki Bars can be underway.
The Binns and Bonito Motel, are becoming the Vibes Hotel and Motel. These motels were acquired by the team behind the Waves Motel, Tropicana Motel and Monaco Motel. Crews have gutted the buildings and have started to install the new windows.
The Wildwood Boardwalk Reconstruction project is moving fast. Fred and his crews have finished most of the work from Oak to Schellenger Ave. From Schellenger Ave south, crews just started laying down the wood. The Cedar Ave connector already have it’s pilings in place with the main beams now being laid.
The progress is moving so fast that it is estimated that crews could be done the main boardwalk near Easter.
Kay's Oasis, a 17-unit townhouse project located at 400 Magnolia Avenue, is making progress with the construction of its southern units. Those units are now getting their siding installed this week.
Domino’s Pizza is coming to the Wildwood boardwalk at the Papi’s Taco location at Magnolia and the Boardwalk.
No word on if this will be their permanent new location or if it is just seasonal.

While my first thought was the same as you said earlier, I agree that having a year round business on the boardwalk and year round employment opportunities is a great thing, plus he sounds like a community oriented guy! Does anybody besides me wonder that when Joey is getting a coffee or out & about the island do contractors or others ask him what is going on in the Wildwoods. Glad they did not sell the naming rights for the Convention center.Building that replaced the original Spectrum building in South Philly is think.on its third name. When it was the called the First Union everybody called it the FU center. Hope they can save most of the old Doo Wop buildings. Historic Cape May has 600 Victorian buildings still standing.

Hi Joey, the Oceanview was built & operated as the Admiral East until the motel was sold in the late 90s and became the Oceanview. It was the flagship of the Admiral Resort Motel Group.
Joey I honestly believe that the best pizza my family has in Wildwood is from Domino's. The nostalgia of the other place is important however for some places the prices have gone overboard. This gives options for families and still have quality.. Good luck to him he is willing to invest in Wildwood and deserves to be supported just like the McDonald's and Starbucks and other chains. You should be proud to communicate new businesses. We know you love your nostalgia it ok we all do.
Thanks again Joey! Haven’t been down for three weeks and so much is going on! I didn’t realize Domino’s would be open year round. I’m not a fan but lots of others are. They do offer a variety on their menu that fits well with families and anyone else on a budget. Also, as you mentioned, more jobs for all! Maybe it will take some wait times off in season from the popular pizza places! 😊

Did that top of the Royal Hawaiian ever rotate? I remember being up there as a kid and I think it was the gift shop and maybe a restaurant. All I know is that I miss my Wildwood summers... oh, and fly high, mighty seagull!

Wonder what's going on with the old Ocean Holiday Motel in the Crest? I know the work was stalled a few months ago, but heard nothing else.
I wish there was more places cheaper for elderly people. I miss going to wildwood new jersey but I can't afford it anymore

Are all the construction workers and trades local or do the property openers bring in people from out of the area? Up in northern NJ the only construction projects that move fast are Wawa, Quick Check, Chik-fil-A, etc. Most other commercial projects move at a glacial pace with a lot of starts and stops.
That dominos is not the first Dominos in Wildwood but it is the first for the boards. Before I was born there us to be a McDonalds on the wildwood boardwalk.

Any updates on the Grassy Sound Pier? They were supposed to be replacing it and finishing it by Spring 2024 but I have not been able to find any info about it except that it is closed.
