Hi there, I'm watching it at home in London, UK. It is absolutely a breathtaking road trip and so many contrasting and different landscapes, cities and towns to see along the roadsides. Thanks for sharing with us. The Drury inns are so beautiful and clean as well
I did not know that he had done background music in the past. I have always listened for and enjoyed his excellent narration, demographic details and other comments.... I actually thought he was in YT jail for some mysterious reason and YT put the music in to block the narration.
Seeing this made me so happy. In 1980 as a 23 year old from Australia, I caught a bus from Flagstaff all the way to Buffalo N.Y. in winter. Thanks Joe and Nick for letting me relive some of that experience. Background music was perfect. Your videos are amazing, thanks!
Passengers on the bus were calling Buffalo an excuse for a city and were very disparaging.I was going through to Niagra so did not see Buffalo at the time.@@johngalanti1010
They were never the heart of anything....they were and are just small towns.... Hearts produce goods and services people need which small towns never did hence why they die
The population of America became majority city dwellers in 1900. Rual areas have been slowly dying for the last 124 years. As their population leaves only the elderly stay and as they die the towns get smaller and smaller .
@@jollyjohnthepirate3168 yes, even my state of Texas most people do not realize we are basically more urban than rural. We have gigantic urban areas where most of the population lives.
At 9:07 entering Tucumcari on old 66, couldn't help wondering what it was like when my dad as a teen with his large family in a Packard touring car on their way to visit California in the mid 1920s on the 'new' 66 were in the same spot. What a relief to stop, stretch, and maybe a cold soda pop after hours of 35 mph dirt road... Many buildings that are now ruins weren't even built yet.
I like the format. Get gas and go! I had to put my hand over my heart when you went past the Big Texan in Amarillo. This gives the viewer a sense of what traveling across America is really like. Your European fans will be shocked at all the space. Last time I was in Tucumari, NM I stopped at Tee Pee Curio and turned the wife loose while I took a nap for an hour. We stay in Gallup, NM when we travel I-40. I am glad you featured. "Standing on a corner at Winslow Arizona Park". I was hoping you would as it was on your way. A great start to this series. Showing the travel between your major attractions is a nice change of pace. You did hit all the high points along the way and this video give us the viewers a sense of the distance you have traveled so far. Thanks again for the best entertainment value on TH-cam.
Been through much of that. Ate at the Big Texan several times. Not the best steaks, just famous for their 72 ouncer challenge. Been through Tucumcari last year, Gallup, drove through Hobbs, been stationed in New Mexico in the Army so I've been to Truth or Consequences ir other small towns. Just love road trips. Been to Albuquerque, okd Albuquerque square, Santa Fe and the famous church with the spiral staircase built without nails, Chaco Canyon, Dulce, Abiquiu--home of Georgia OKeefe. Just so much to see.
@JoeandNicsRoadTrip sorry I loved the old format and the information you gave at every town . Man all those sh1tty HOTEL ARE ALL THE SAME ..even here in Europe . We don't need to see ..You know Joe I have see lots of your videos 99% were great 😢😢😢 sorry old friends .🙏💚☘️
As someone from Europe, I am continously amazed by the awesome and immense beauty of your vast country. And the way you guys portray it, without any words, just letting the images speak for themselves on these road trips. Love it ❤ Keep doing what you're doing 👍
This video had a different feel to it and I loved it. What a nice change of pace. You are not getting older your getting better. Sincerely, Jim Thornton
I have been through this area so many times I can tell you our little kid we went cross-country and then by myself twice then hike the Grand Canyon but I love your video. You guys had made a lot of progress over the years. I have to tell you guys you’re doing a great job. Keep it up.
I'm from the UK, I drove from New Orleans to Dallas, Amarillo , seen the Cadillac ranch. Lubbock (Buddy Holy), San Antonio, Galveston and back to New Orleans . Loved every min 2600 miles in 12 days , and all in a Dodge Charger just brill.
We have been sorting through your videos for a couple of months now, and we really like how you present the places you guys visit. My husband and I have been to many of the same locations. We enjoy our road trips across the US...as we like yours also. 👋🤗✌️
I just came here to make the same comment! I’m so bummed out about all this music and he removed the small talk. I assume it’s easier for him. Not nearly as enjoyable.
when I was driving OTR always stopped at Clines corner great place. And driving the 287 out of Dallas sure brought back a lot of good memories have safe travels may the road rise to meet you and the wind at your back
Have driven that road b/w Wichita Falls and Denver more times than I can count for winter skiing. Clarendon, Claude, Ding dong daddy from Dumas, Dalhart, Texline, Clayton, Raton, Trinidad, etc. The drive through New Mexico has breath taking, open-country vistas, w/ plateaus and bluffs that you can envision early Americans on horse-back traversing. As long and arduous as that drive is, sometimes in the wee hours of the morning, I always look fwd to the adventure circumnavigating winter storms and road closures and taking in the vast open plain, range and wildlife.😊
I enjoy all your videos, especially seeing the country side of Texas on this one...I'm reminded that, pretty soon, it will be a time to see the blue bonnets by the side of the road...How beautiful it is to experience it, while driving by...Have a safe and happy trip....Keep up the good work! Thank you very much.
@@Anonomush_orangesYou are so right!. Texas is indeed big, with such varied topography, fauna, and so on...I just got excited thinking of my travels through Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, etc. Thanks....
Sad to see Tucumcari in such a poor state. I stayed there one night on my way from northern California to Little Rock. in 68, driving on Rought 66. It used to be very nice. My cousin's widow has moved from Fresno to Albuquerque to be closer to her daughter her husband and the grandkids. She says the crime rate is very high there. I'm glad you stopped in Winslow to show the "Flatbed Ford."
I noticed you had added some beautiful music! Sounds grreat. Most definitely, this is some chill music. 😎👍 Once the drum kicked in. I started putting on the sub woofer. Just blasting this music. If you have more like this, it's definitely a nice addition to the channel. I keep adding more to my comment, but I definitely love how there's no pause to the beat. It just goes through your journey. Definitely enjoyed the editing you did here!!!
My wife and I live in England and really enjoy seeing your travels. I'd love to visit the states and drive route 66,thats been a dream of mine for many years.
Wonderful!! 😊 Embroidering a project. Easy to listen to you as I go and make progress. 😉 Nice you are showcasing 'these little places' on your journeys. Hugz to you both!! 🎉
I took my first ever Roadtrip last year when I moved from Michigan to AZ that was a once in a lifetime adventure and road trip for me I love your videos and roadtrips 👍👏
Great video! This reminded me of when you first sold your home and took off on the road. I love road trips like this with cool music. It was also a good deviation. Love the sights, stops, food, people and hotels. I’ve always loved road trips as long as I was not driving. LOL. Thanks and fun travels.
Another great video Joe and Nic had a really great time when in Flagstaff, Winslow, Gallup and our all time fav place in the USA Albuquerque cannot wait for the next great instalment regards from the UK
Thanks, this video reminds me of summer vacations with my Dad and brother. Circa 1967 from northern mass to back road America. Best road trips. You are really great at showing us how it really is.
Awesome trip! My Dad was in the Air Force in the 1960s and he was stationed at Wichita Falls. TX. He also recreated at Lake Texoma. I’m an old millennial. Still RELATIVELY young, but getting older. Right in the median USA age range.
Loved this format. For someone who has never been to that part of the country it was interesting to watch the scenery. If I may I would prefer to hear you speaking over the music. You always have interesting information to share.
Love this trip, just imagine lying on my couch after a hard days work, enjoying a nice trip viewing your country, just by looking over your shoulder. Please go on.
It amazing how much changes over the years in some of these towns. Used to have family in Flaggstaff but they moved a few years back. It was nice look out the front window see snowy mountains then go to the back door and see the desert. Loved it, you got both views. Have a great day and safe travels
Another comment is that I saw some JB Hunt cars on one of the trains you passed. On these cars was the word "intermodal". What that means is that JB Hunt is picking up items from the factory or port by truck. Then the long haul shipping is done by train. The delivery is again done via truck. As this gets large trucks off the road and as trains are much more fuel efficient than large trucks, I think this is a very good idea. Intermodal shipping also reduces the risk of fatal accidents and wear and tear on the roads.
An awesome video, so much to see ! Tucumcari looks interesting, some beautiful old motels ! The music in the video is great ! Thanks so much, Joe and Nic, always enjoyable !😊💚
Took Rt 66 on my way back from CA. Went through all the towns you went through,. Those roads are pitch black if you're driving at night. Scary. You sure traveled a long way this time. Enjoyed every minute.
Very good video. We just took a similar trip in January, but via I-10(we live near Austin). We went to the Quartzite, AZ gem and mineral show. The towns we visited were Balmorhea(including the Texas state park), Van Horn, El Paso, Las Cruces, Lordsburg, Deming, Bisbee(side trip), Tuscon, and Phoenix. As to gas prices, we stayed one night in Blythe, CA. Gas prices are $1 higher in CA than AZ. The saddest sight on the whole trip is the devastation caused by oak wilt west of Fredericksburg, Texas.
You missed the Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo! We were stationed in Clovis NM for a while and made a few trips to the Big Texan. I love your videos of the small towns. I’m glad someone is documenting the America that is disappearing 😊.

My nephew recently moved from Dallas TX back to CA to help care for his elderly parents. He loved TX and I can see why. It’s a beautiful place. Thank you for sharing your videos. I love them all. P.S. Gas sure is cheaper in the South compared to CA.
Another great video Joe and Nic. It's great to be able to ride along and see America through your travels. I could only dream of being able to have that ability. I love the travel music. The one that played as you were entering New Mexico was the same one Adam Mark Explores uses as an intro to his videos on TH-cam. The hotels seemed really nice despite basically having the same room three nights in a row in three different cities. Will be looking forward to episode 2 of the road trip. Until then take care, stay safe and God bless. Steve in Oklahoma
Speaking of singing on TH-cam and copyright law, SNL made a great skit joke about that recently. Adrianna Grande sang with a cast member, singing together like Moulin Rouge. They kept singing "Happy Birthday to You", I think because of some crazy copyright law regarding that famous, universally known song.
Nothing better than a road trip. Thanks for letting us tag along. 👏👏👏
Our pleasure!

Cool, that's the idea. :)
Very nice road trip. And again, thank you Joe for the degrees Celsius 👍
My nephew recently moved from Dallas TX back to CA to help care for his elderly parents. He loved TX and I can see why. It’s a beautiful place.
Thank you for sharing your videos. I love them all.
P.S. Gas sure is cheaper in the South compared to CA.
Yep. We just arrived in California and I paid $5.01 a gallon to fill up!
Yippee! You’re in CA. Hope you drive thru the San Joaquin Valley. That’s my neck of the woods. ❤️😊
How can you not love those old Route 66 towns. Did 66 a few years ago absolutely the best time. 🇦🇺🇦🇺
oz// WOW !! quite a ride !! Thanks U2 ! loved every minute of it- as usual. Cheers from Sth Australia.
I thought I recognized that music LOL
Thanks, Steve!!
I’m so happy for you guys for your success on this channel. Good luck. I enjoy your videos you started from nowhere and you have progressed amazing.
Thank you!
beautiful video looking forward for the next video thanks for sharing joe and Nic 👍
Can’t convince me small towns aren’t dying by design
Enjoyed. Music was Kool too. Thanks for sharing.
Love the music! The highways got a bit tiresome, but that’s a big part of a lot of road trips. All good, though-the music fit so well.👍🙏
Speaking of singing on TH-cam and copyright law, SNL made a great skit joke about that recently. Adrianna Grande sang with a cast member, singing together like Moulin Rouge. They kept singing "Happy Birthday to You", I think because of some crazy copyright law regarding that famous, universally known song.
I love that some of you're videos have music . it's jus me the music and you driving😊
So yes, I love these places, that's why I want to visit this country
