@2:53 (sketch) I felt that Sid from Ice Age was looking at me. :) ... your videos bring back beautiful arch school memories and my yearning for those times increases :(... and a salute for your hard work ...
I'm quite amazed on how amazing their architecture is at that time. To be honest I can't quite figurr out how did they made those columns with such height and weight of those things, and I was thinking how come the details of their columns are clear without using any molds aaack this is messing up with my brain.
This is exactly what I was looking for. Your thorough explanation is clear cut and easy to follow. Thank you! I have been researching pavilions for my novel. But I am not sure if column or pillar is most commonly applied when being described. What are your thoughts?
It's really difficult for corinithian style, I sculpted one golden rose and already am at awe at the intricate details of that style of that type of architecture
I, an engineer, only saw trusses and beams. Lol just kidding. Hope you got a kick out of that 😁. Anyway, this was cool to watch. Personally I'd have to sit down and take notes to remember the differences. I got the idea between the different types of columns though.
You lost me when you started using BCE instead of the Latin BC. You’re actually talking about heritage design yet you also that heritage in the face with that. No thanks!
While I understand your preference for BC, the use of BCE is a common practice in many academic and secular contexts for its inclusivity and neutrality. It's not intended to offend but to accommodate diverse perspectives. thanks for stopping by hope you gave it a like!
@@UnravelingArchitecture I loved your video and you did a great job! Very happy to see a beautiful, young lady be so informed about our great history and architecture. I have always been so interested in history, old architecture etc. I was fortunate enough to be able to get married in a true mansion at "The Mansion" at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ. Only graduates are allowed to have their weddings here! It is the Twombly Estate, marriage via the Vanderbilts! I do realize you are only following what has been "infiltrated" in our present academia. However, as a 4th generation, Irish, Catholic it makes me sad that this was done (changing BC to BCE). Our great country of America was founded upon Judeo-Christian doctrine/values, so it is not something we should be erasing. I wish you good luck with your studies and future videos.
OK that’s great but the Romans were the first ones that designed these columns these columns were actually found in the third dynasty under the African pharaohs Zozar his architect at that time was a black man by the name of Imhotep. If we’re going to talk about architectural genius, we have to talk about the third dynasty and the 18th dynasty and then the third dynasty. I don’t think the Romans where around Rome, copied everything that was going on in Egypt primarily the Greco, Romans, for instance the lotus flower columns are older than the room itself. You don’t believe me do your research you can’t give all the glory to the Romans. They were also a great people, but they were students to the craft compared to the ancient Egyptian‘s. You must admit that, and I traveled around the world so I know that the Romans came into Egypt as students.
You packed so much information into one short video! Amazing job, and thank you :)
oh hell yeah a channel about architecture FINALLY
