@exploringmybackyard the generator we have down by the cottage is nice and quiet. Listening to that loud one all day kinda grates on the nerves and doesn't make a good video. Glad Jason thought of it!

@@lorettaandjasonoffgrid you’re doing it the old fashion Amish way. Hand hammered nails. 😀 I have a nail gun for every application. I haven’t hand hammered any projects in years. Im Probably too out of shape to do that anymore. 😜😜
@906Dreams lol! We're using the nails because we have soooo many! We'll be putting more money into the roof with the metal so trying to save where we can.

@lorilarkin827 these small bunkies don't require a permit. I'm not sure what the size limits are for Saskatchewan but in know in Ontaroo we can build up to 160 sqft without a permit as long as there is no running water! Check into it!
When you build a header the material is supposed to be vertical not horizontal like you built it. The reason for that is it’s suppose to carry the load from up above.
uuummmmm are the walls your windows are in load bearing? If so your headers might not be thick enough lol trying to think of a nice way to say well you know ,,,,,,,,,,,,, Take Care😊✌

@@lorettaandjasonoffgrid With the snow load in ontario the min, header size is double 2by6 on edge, it's the span of the opening that determins the header size, over a three ft span you should go to a 2by8 header on edge
@@lorettaandjasonoffgrid I've built sheds and ran a 4by6 beam on top of the wall, two ft longer then the wall to get a one ft overhang on each side, the beam on top of the wall will take the snow load 😊
I was wondering why you built with no floor insulation or vapor barrier. Your foundation probably should of been slightly higher off the ground. Unless the wood is treated it will probably rot quickly. Interesting videos.
Hello and thank you for your comment! This bunkie is on a massive rock and is off the ground on blocks and gravel. We decided not to insulate the floor but we will be doubling up on the boards and see how it goes this winter. It is a very small space so we are not too worried about. Thanks for watching!
