Cleanest full-extension single-stroke roll in the history of single-stroke rolls. And that one rim-shot on the top bass makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. Cavies keepin' it classy.
i know nothing about percussion lines. I just really enjoy watching and listening to the straight up skills! This came up in my recommendeds. And apparently after reading comments, I am supposed to mentioned how friggin’ clean this was. So clean! The cleanest! Lol but I dunno why so many commenters said it was clean.
this was their show samurai. I loved their performance that year but im a die hard regiment fan and was so happy they won that year. The highlights of the entire contest was the killing of the drum major in phantom and the matrix mellophone in the cavies.
With Early 90s being Silver and the Classic stuff being Bronze. I love my classic park and bark, and I love watching 93 Star and Phantom be, just the nastiest drill machines. But yeah, 2000-2008 was just DIFFERENT.
@xXW4RH3ROXx A guy I know on Cavies tenor line told me these are the notes they tune the tenors to- A#, C#, F, G#, B from drum 4 up to spock. They also tune before every rehearsal block and before lots. Also they do a full head change 2 days before every regional. Hope that helps!
@DaGiantLaserCanon This is Drum Corps international. Extremely competitive "professional marching" corps consisting of Brass and drums that tour and compete over the summer. The Cavaliers is one of the best corps ever.
Man I love the snare part towards the end. Thanks for the videos BDdrumline08. I just wish I could see some of the music for this stuff just to see what it looks like. I've never marched a core (yet, I might try out for some but I still haven't decided) and the level these guys play at is impressive.
and that's what makes them so great and so much fun to watch, I love their shows! especially 02 04 06 and 08, their strength is obviously marching. lol. some of the stuff they do is just incredible, I just wished they would be more musical, I think their last good music year was 04 with 007, that show had everything!
This is coming from someone with only singing and sports experience so I don't know what to look for but that was really fricken awesome! I almost wish I did band in 4th grade
@rockstarduh5 It's not actually A#, C#, F, G#, B. They don't tune to specific notes, they just tune the intervals starting at the bottom and working their way up to spock. They tune to the intervals of minor third between drums 4 and 3, a major third between drums 3 and 2, a minor third between drums 2 and 1, and then another minor third between drums 1 and spock.
The Cavies have always had a tradition of decorating the unexposed section of their carriers. The bottam is black and the top is decided by the players. They have been doing this since 1992 when they began using XL fiberglass vest carriers.
1. Phantom Regiment 2. Blue Devils 3. Cavaliers 4. Bluecoats I got to see all these lines in the lot. I loved every second of it. I knew coming out of the lot though, that Phantom was going to win. They were so hot.
I have the actual drum break for the whole battery, I have the Cadets 05 Quad solo and a few other cadets stuff, I have some Bluecoats 09 snare stuff, and some old SCV exercises
5 quads, 7 snares, 5 basses
*drumline haiku*
Five tenor drummers
Seven snare single stick shots
Five bass drum boom booms
I come back to this every now and then
Yup, even now.
@@spencerharris7671 even now
Even now
Yup, even now
I came back to this and decided I’ll finally learned it. So I did. And I played it with the video. Hells yeah
8 years and it's still the best break I've ever heard.
@Caleb :|
It's unique, but 2012 scv man. Come on
Magucci13 Gotta be Phantom Regiment ‘07 for me. Rennick’s books were so clean.
@@wesleytillotson1550 Phantom '06 dood
Hear me out... 2011 cadets...
15 years later and I still can't find a better drum break
Same
To me, this is the cleanest Cavaliers line I've heard.
Idk man what about the 2023 line?
Yea 2023 was outstanding, too.
I don't know how many times I have watched this video lol
I absolutely love the snare and bass tuning from this year.
Was watching this since 2008
Those snare rolls when the tenors add in are fire. Timeless.
paul rudd on tenors lol
I love the sound of the quads. Always have and always will.
this never gets old..
One of the most effective drum breaks ever but A surprising amount of dirt for finals night. That last triplet roll kills me
This is the greatest drum line video on TH-cam
Cavies best tenorline and book hands down
JTspeaks watch?v=M2SKA-ZRZYA
I loved PRs from 2008 the most, but Cavies are always great.
i could watch this a billion times and still be mind blown. at the end those alternating 16th notes for the snares are crazyyyyyyy
All their drum breaks are so tasteful and actually contribute to the theme of the show
Its been almost 5 years, and Im still coming back to this.
Still watching 10 years later
some of the coolest writing I've ever heard
So clean it's unreal.
:59 to 1:05 is clean?
BariManKane That part was actually pretty clean
BariManKane sounds clean to me lol
How about 1:02 someone breaks hard at 1:03 in snares pls tell me you hear it
I hear dirt, but overall it's pretty clean
the video that introduced me to DCI🤘🏻
Cleanest full-extension single-stroke roll in the history of single-stroke rolls. And that one rim-shot on the top bass makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. Cavies keepin' it classy.
This and Cavs 2011 are so sick
i know nothing about percussion lines. I just really enjoy watching and listening to the straight up skills! This came up in my recommendeds. And apparently after reading comments, I am supposed to mentioned how friggin’ clean this was. So clean! The cleanest! Lol but I dunno why so many commenters said it was clean.
I always loved switching spots with my friend who played tuba because they ride the drum bus. I just loved listening to these guys hack away.
DCI 2008 has gone down in history!
For being only a few years ago this reminds me of some old school type beats. Love it!
This has to be the coolest freaking drum break EVER.
0:31 That is one of the coolest parts of a tenor break ever! Amazing writing!
One of my favorite percussion features of all time. So, so clean.
Why do I always find myself coming back to this video? It's just too good. xD
stick heights at 1:08
yet it is still insanely clean
always one of my favorite tenor lines... year in and year out! Holly heights!!
Man, everything is tuned so nicely, these drums so beautiful..
Favorite quad break ever
Man, those snares sound so good!
this was their show samurai. I loved their performance that year but im a die hard regiment fan and was so happy they won that year. The highlights of the entire contest was the killing of the drum major in phantom and the matrix mellophone in the cavies.
2008 was an awesome year. there were so many good shows
Ridiculously clean diddles
Nice, I think it's funny and really cool how all the snares' heads move together about 1:00 in. Love it.
The tuning on those snares..... Is FANTASTIC.
This guys are one of my favorite drumlines ever.
0:42 Did someone say "Saucy?"
Hahaha I think so
This was the golden era of drum corps.
With Early 90s being Silver and the Classic stuff being Bronze. I love my classic park and bark, and I love watching 93 Star and Phantom be, just the nastiest drill machines. But yeah, 2000-2008 was just DIFFERENT.
Wow, this is so perfect and clean. And those are some cute tenor players..
this will forever be the best break
those tenors are tuned to perfection
gotta love the cavies visuals. always my favorite.
I'll never fprget seeing this live. A masterpiece
absolutely beautiful stick heights.
So....freaking. ...clean. I still cry to this day
holy shit that tenor solo is beastly, especially the split section part, damn. amazing.
12 years later and this is still my favorite lick
@DaGiantLaserCanon This is Drum Corps international. Extremely competitive "professional marching" corps consisting of Brass and drums that tour and compete over the summer. The Cavaliers is one of the best corps ever.
Mannn, the tuning of those snares are so orgasmic LOL I love how they sound.
2019 anyone? Still come back to this...
I am loving the paint job on those tenors.
I friggen love Cavies, and this shows that they are one of the best Corps out there.
@Fox6sports1 They use it for the clicking at the beginning. They hit that instead of the tubes and it has a nice sound.
i loved that show. i never saw it live though. me and friends bought their tapes at DCI.
This never gets old
Man I love the snare part towards the end. Thanks for the videos BDdrumline08. I just wish I could see some of the music for this stuff just to see what it looks like. I've never marched a core (yet, I might try out for some but I still haven't decided) and the level these guys play at is impressive.
coolest tenor sectional/drum break ever! :DD
love that first attack...sooo much power behind it
and that's what makes them so great and so much fun to watch, I love their shows! especially 02 04 06 and 08, their strength is obviously marching. lol. some of the stuff they do is just incredible, I just wished they would be more musical, I think their last good music year was 04 with 007, that show had everything!
i love the snares and how they are tunned haha
coolest thing is when its them and the pit it sounds so freakin awosme!!!!
2nd favorite feature in my opinion right next to bluecoats. this is awesome
This is one of my favorite breaks of all time.
This is coming from someone with only singing and sports experience so I don't know what to look for but that was really fricken awesome! I almost wish I did band in 4th grade
i particularly enjoy the way they approach the last note!
man i loved it when the quads did their break though. Man the basses were awesome 2.
It's all about that stick height. This is seriously flawless
gotta love the split hurtas in the bass line.
bluecoats had tenors do hurtas for their drumbreak.
I swear! I saw big foot behind those trees :p "One of the best drum breaks ever" !!
Does anyone know where to purchase the Wood attachments they used??? I really want some for our show and can not find them anywhere!
It's a wedge from Yamaha, Cascara I believe
I auditioned that fall for them. They were some kind of hard plastic block. And Jim Casella wrote the book for the battery.
@KingofFUPA the snare break is in green beats 2009
The Cavies have always had a tradition of decorating the unexposed section of their carriers. The bottam is black and the top is decided by the players. They have been doing this since 1992 when they began using XL fiberglass vest carriers.
Thats amazing. Purely.Amazing.
I turned one this on that day
Uggghhhhh...they go so hard at the tenor break...then even harder when they all get back together.
Absolutely Radical
That was crazy sick, I wish our Drumline was even close to that good.. :)
Keep at it bud. Try out. I watched your video man you can do this don't be afraid of it.
Please tell me someone has the sheet music for that tenor lick!!!!

Oscar Herrera Thanks!!!!
Oscar Herrera whats your channel
I would love to learn the tenor part , this was one of my favorite features during my drumline years
2008 was an AMAZING year for DCI. Spartacus, Samurai, Constantly Risking Absurdity, Finis, even the Cadets had a bitchin show. What a year.
RIDICULOUSLY clean!!
that's epic right there
Amazing Beats!
1. Phantom Regiment
2. Blue Devils
3. Cavaliers
4. Bluecoats
I got to see all these lines in the lot. I loved every second of it. I knew coming out of the lot though, that Phantom was going to win. They were so hot.
Cavies are old faithful of always having a super clean line
I have the actual drum break for the whole battery, I have the Cadets 05 Quad solo and a few other cadets stuff, I have some Bluecoats 09 snare stuff, and some old SCV exercises

Those tenors are tuned to perfection.
I love the visuals.
I'll trade anything for this tenor music. This is quite possibly one of the coolest tenor breaks of all time (other than Cadets 2005 of course :p).
