I only dig lug in Langstone Harbour Rhys, some are that size, some are bigger, but they do catch fish. I've had lots of smaller fish with them, mainly Wrasse. I tend to not use worms for bigger baits. Btw what's a Cod? 🤔
I would rather have have some dog fish and some waiting at the moment all I seem to catch his flounders big ones hopefully tomorrow I might catch my first cod I've lost two big ones this season
U can park for free to the east at the end of the road that runs in front of the pier.. if your early or lucky. + Prime angling does usually have better lug. Theres a shortage around here at the moment it seemd.
Bloody hell looks like that bait supplier digs their bait in the lug nursery beds, they are very small. I am like you bud in that I hate paying for bait except frozen mackerel and sandeel. I have never tried pumping blacks I must give it a go.
we also couldnt get thru the dogs and whiting on sunday at perch rock in the search for ray and cod! But second part of the session made the day by catching 12 bass in about 2 hours on the promenade :) keep up the good work bud, you ll soon get a nice cod off otterspool ;) tight lines
That lug was shocking loads of yellow tails but up here in Newcastle the size of bait you were putting would be to big unless you were fishing rough ground for double fig cod or maybe of a beach with a good sea on .i bought some rag two day ago and they were 4 inches long i got 3 bags costing £9 i counted them 27 worms i got but since i mostly only fish the tyne i could get away with two or three inch worms so size does not matter up here in geordie land lol anyway keep plugging away chappy we see a cod off you soon .
Honestly - try some squid, I'm up in the North West and squid was just as successful as lug for me and far cheaper. Even the frozen squid rings from supermarkets worked well.
Thus I've been fishing nearly every other day hunting those cod,have done low waters up to high tide,using big baits,all I had is bloody dog fish after dog fish,white loads of whittings,but did manage a 9inch codling last nite. Those lugworms you had from Worthing,theyook like breeders to me,no way would I pay for the size of them.
That was an expensive trip. When I was a kid we would catch the smelt and strap one on the side of the jig dead , with an elastic band Then dangle it over the side of the pier and the squid would just grab it.
Interesting day all the same.. takes a while to get the knack of a spot!.. no way around that!...wish u switched that head light off when facing the camera
I really like your stuff,need a wind thingy for your mic though !! The lug you bought were a bit small,but blow lug don't grow very big,and I think that where you're used to using blacks they just don't compare.Finally !,don't give up,keep persevering,think the only thing you could of tried in the day would have been using smaller baits for plaice,flatties etc.
Kevin cheers mate with the blow lug beaing a bit small mate they were disgusting I have dug lug since I started fishing and have dug them bigger than some of the blacks I can pump I think I might have to go dig some as it goes just so people know what is out there then they will know what they should be getting for there money. Oh and I won't give up I'll get my cod in the end even if it kills me lol and a wind thingy is next on the list tight lines buddy
Keep at it Bud someone once said to me that common lung always came the wrong way around in the winter they are tiny when you want large ones for your Cod and large in the summer when you want small ones for Sole fishing, I dont know about the science involved but it seems true, for the simmilar distance drive from the Medway towns north Essex or Suffolk might be worth a punt for your Cod!

At least the weather was kind. Fishing a new mark is always challenging and at least you stuck it out and give it a go.

I managed the first 5mins of moaning and grumbling and then complaining and blaming, I imagine the rest of the video this on repeat 👍

If ur gonna fish the pier then do it after a blow . Clear water is rubbish . Plus the squid are now turning up which will kill it dead
You have more bait than I have food in the fridge....like the video...at least the weather is mild...

Brazil's in dover , u get good bait from him , at times I've done the drive to his shop just cause i know his lug are good wen he has .
