I'm a firm believer that if one is going to sell bicycle bells online, there should be sound samples. A shitty sounding bell is unacceptable. I'm so happy to have found this!
I am a bicyclist, but was on a muti-use trail as a pedestrian and heard the best bike bell ever. It took a lot of searching (amazing that some expect us to buy a bell without ever hearing the sound!), and so grateful to find it was the Crane Riten Brass bell, so I can purchase it now. It's the perfect "I-am-a- bike-getting -ready-to-pass-you" warning-without-causing -pedestrian-,panic bell out there! Love the sound, especially sounded three times. Much better than yelling "on your left" because in that moment, no pedestrian remembers which way is left! A proper, beautiful bell, and a pedestrian knows you are there. Many thanks!

i have a similar sounding bell made by the Lion Bell Works out of England . it does confuse people and does get them out of the way . the sound is so unusual that it makes them jump to one side of the road/trail etc. 😂
It's been a while since you posted this video but it's still SUPER HELPFUL. Many sincere thanks for this & for doing it so well!! Really was able to get a good idea of each bell's tone. Many thanks!
i've just bought the Crane Mini suzu ... Sounds great, but how do you fix it to the steering bar???? it's a solid metal ring... you can't tighten it ... There's also a spacer ring, but I don't see how you stop the outer ring from just moving around the inner spacer ring...I see screws here in the video, that are simply not on my bell
Getting tired of shouting out to everyone, decided time to get a bell 😂 Suzu mini might be just the ticket. Love the regular's sound but it's kind of big.
Great video. Thanks! I just ordered a Suzu brass striker for my newly custom built Soma Saga touring/ commuter build (in British Racing Green) and can’t wait to install the bell
@@YUTfan2 yes. Great on trails. Pleasantly loud enough and recognizable to alert people from several feet away but not alarming enough to annoy or make them jump out of their skins.
Thank your for the comparison. The "Crane Suzu" bell is obviously louder and its sound lasts longer. Doesn't the TH-cam sound compression makes a difference in terms of sound level? Is the sound close to what we hear in real life, compared to what we listen from the video?
It is pretty close to the real bell sound. The SLR's mike is pretty sensitive. I put the camera several feet away, but the bells as well as the birds end up sounding very close.
great vid, can you tell me where you were able to get the black Suzu Mini with the chinese character? Would love to get it as its my name. cheers edit I found it
None of the bells sound that loud in this video, likely automatic level recording - you really need a loud bell above traffic noise. I have a Riten bell which is jolly loud and much better than the bells that just have a single ring.

I agree and was disappointed that Crane added audio samples to only a portion of their bell models

I hear "on your left" and more than half the time I involuntarily STEP LEFT instead of right!

The sound of the full sized Suzu (brass) is just magnificent. Wouldn't want to miss it. :)
Wow, these bells have an incredible amount of resonance compared to the one I currently have.
Brass has sass!
The Suzu has a lovely long sustain
The full size Suzu has such a nice sound I feel like it would confuse people rather than get them out of the way.

The birds seem to like and approve every model.
Thanks a lot for the review. Sounds like the Crane Suzu Brass is the loudest of them all.
Thank you for comparing them🙋♀️
I have Suzu Bell's in brass on more than one bike for many years, it's one of the loudest I ever encountered.
Thanks. Will be purchasing a Brass Crane Suzu.
Brass bells win Hands down. Louder, clearer, better reverberation and the ring lasts longer.
Thanks! Found a used Crane a while back and liked the tone. Need another for a new ride and this is just what I needed to make up my mind.

The Suzu Mini has real pleasant sound IMO.
Excellent sampling, thank you!
Please include the sound measured in decibels.

How is the performance, is it loudd enough?

I heard from another reviewer that the 'Crane Mini Karen' has a tendency to ring when riding over bumpy roads!
Thanks, very helpful. What I'd like to see is a test with big bulky mittens on the hands.
Best video, thanks for sharing, needs a follow up with the new Crane Rocket Bell! - ring a ding ding! :)
Amazingly helpful

I have the chrome plated Riten and it sounds better than the brass Riten. That said, the brass Suzu sounds gorgeous.
Thank you for the review!
Thank you!
Nice !👍 what I was looking for .!!
Thank you

Cool t-shirt the astronaut on the bike. Where can I get one?
It was made by Bicycle Times Magazine...unfortunately they went out of business.
very useful thanks!
Does the Suzu brass in black sounds as good as the regular brass
sounds the same. the black finish is very thin.
Helped me make a decision thanks
Paint really seems to affect the sustain.
The painted bells are done on the aluminum dome bells, which dont have as much sustain as the brass. Aluminum does stay shiney longer than brass

Get a squeeze bulb horn!
The ones out there for bikes are subpar - at least last time we checked.
the crane suzu sounds like a religious procession is about to begin ...ohmmmmmmmm
My lbs sells junk. Thanks.
