We took 3 trips this year, one hotel based trip and two bikepacking trips. I tried to journal in the moment but I just wasn’t inspired. I think I needed to process the trip before I could document it. Waiting also gave me the opportunity to use more supplies and techniques. The evolution included just writing notes each in my travel journal in pencil and then erasing them to redo the spreads when I got home. I hated that. It was better if I made notes in my phone with Google Keep and made sure I took photos. Between the two I can relive and recreate at home.
One of my FAVE things is talking to people I meet on the road like shop owners or tour guides or fellow campers/hikers, if I like them and wanna remember them I take a pic and give them a page and ask them to write a message/draw a pic-- whatever they want. I like to work on my journal as I go along-- sketching, writing, taping in interesting things I might find like a feather or a torn-out title from a brochure. I may print out and glue in some maps or photos later. But I love the personalized notes & revisit them often.
Thank you for this! I felt guilty not "travel journalling" real time but its really kinda difficult 😅 Collected more than enough mementos though to stick to my travel journal. Thank you for inspiring me to continue doing it, and thank you for validating that it's okay to enjoy the moment, do quick notes and create the travel spreads when you get home. ❤
Do you travel journal in the moment or do you gather notes + complete your pages when you return home? Let me know!
Probably when I return
@@-travelwme-7581 same!
Normally when I return, but then I forget what happened and then I’m to lazy to write 😭

I'm so glad that this helped! This is supposed to be a fun process - no need for us to overthink and stress ourselves out about it
Will these polaroids last good for long?
Mine are still looking great!
