    Great tutorial thanks James. You are a natural. Very easy to listen to while making the content easy to understand. I am wondering if you know how to shorten the length of time a caption stays on the screen. I have been looking online for a while, but can't find an explanation of how to stop an unrelated caption from the preceding part of the video appearing on the next section of a video. It usually only stays for a second before the related caption appears, but I'd like to remove it altogether. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    • @createcontently
      @createcontently  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Mel! I appreciate your comment and kind words! As far as editing the length of the captions, it is possible! If you are looking at the timeline at the bottom of the window, there should be a row that shows your captions. To adjust the length (on either side) you can press and HOLD the Command Key (for Mac) or the Control Key (I assume for Windows) to toggle on a tool that you can then click and drag at the end of one of the words to the desired length. I can record a TH-cam Short for this as well. Hope this helps in the meantime!

    Thanks for this tutorial! Is it possible to add my own script and just use Descript to sync the text with my voice?

    • @createcontently
      @createcontently  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No problem! Thanks for watching. As far as I know, Descript has an overdub feature that "clones" your voice. If you type text it can speak for you by generating an AI audio voice. It's not perfect, but can be helpful if you need to "overdub" a word or short phrase. It also requires you to have enough of your own voice to sample. So you may need to have several minutes of your own voice uploaded in order for it to work.

      Good question Brian! According to Descript's website, it looks like all plans including the free plan includes dynamic captions. So I would think this feature is enabled. I would try making sure that you highlight the text before selecting captions. That be a fix. Sometimes I forget to do that first! 😅

      Got it! By chance are you using a Classic Project? (as opposed to a Descript Storyboard project?). The "new" Descript uses Storyboard projects that have a few more features but does look different. The "karaoke" selection is in the Descript Storyboard project type. If you are working with a Classic project, the try enabling "word-level automation". That is essential the karaoke effect. I can do a video on this to help if that still doesn't fix it!
