This was a welcome foray into Jarry's life and contributions, which are more diverse and numerous than I had realised. Thank you very much for posting this. Now I must go find out more, as perhaps absurdist theatre will help me make sense-nonsense of our World today.

Lovely, thank you. I'm surprised this doesn't have more views.

Only knew about Jarry as the author of Ubu roi. Did not realise he was such a fascinating individual who worked in such a broad range of media over his short life - wish I could have seen this exhibition. Thanks.

I first learned about Jarry from Dan Franks book Bohemian Paris...Great book.
Anyways , ive been infatuated by him since.
Now , i own a small library of books by him and about him.
Truly a Genius , and way ahead of his time.

Alfred Jarry: The Carnival of Being. 1137am. 13.9.23. the "offensive" imagery should be viable via another presentation. the mob can choose whether to engage with it or not... Supermale? Read Morrissey's list of the lost.

perhaps the most telling quote is " He has novel ideas I know and he's a jarry queer fish be-
times, I grant you, and cantanberous, the poisoner of his word,
but lice and all and semicoloured stainedglasses, I'm enormously
full of that foreigner, I'll say I am ! ", Joyce admitting he was full of that foreigner. (Page 463)

I'm sorry... Did you say he had a scatological imagination? Does that mean he spent a lot of time day dreaming about feces? Or that you thought his ideas were... bad?
Or is there a definition of scatological that doesn't include a reference to stool?
    Truly confused.

Nah, its poop. As she said, the literal first word of Ubu Roi is basically shit.
