- Kung Fu Hustle (Chinese: 功夫, Kung Fu) is a 2004 martial arts action-comedy gangster film directed, produced, co-written, and starring by Stephen Chow. The film tells the story of a murderous neighborhood gang, a poor village with unlikely heroes, and an aspiring gangster's fierce journey to find his true self. Eva Huang, Yuen Wah, Yuen Qiu, Danny Chan Kwok-kwan and Leung Siu-lung co-starred in prominent roles. The martial arts choreography is supervised by Yuen Woo-ping.
Kung Fu Hustle was a co-production between Hong Kong and Mainland Chinese companies, filmed in Shanghai. After the commercial success of Shaolin Soccer, its production company, Star Overseas, began to develop the films with Columbia Pictures Asia in 2002. It features a number of retired actors famous for 1970s Hong Kong action cinema and has been compared to contemporary and influential wuxia films such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Hero. The cartoon special effects in the film accompanied by traditional Chinese music, is often cited as its most striking feature.
The film was released on 23 December 2004 in China and on 25 January 2005 in the United States. The film received positive reviews and grossed US$17 million in North America and US$84 million in other regions. It was tenth on the list of highest-grossing foreign-language films in the United States as well as the highest-grossing foreign-language film in the country in 2005. Kung Fu Hustle won numerous awards, including six Hong Kong Film Awards and five Golden Horse Awards. The film was re-released in 3D in October 2014 across Asia and America, marking the tenth anniversary of the film.

When I was a kid, I thought This was a weird movie, but holly hell…. This is a true classic!!, nothing less!!!!
When i was a kid, i got goosebumps by seeing Lord Buddha and then the guy unlishing his prime move, really nostalgic.
Wierd in what sense?
its get better with time yes. Like kill bill
I was a 19 when it came out and loved it
Yes
I've seen this movie probably 20+ times and it's always entertaining.
This movie is a top a 10 personal favorite. It's got comedy, great plot, and well choreographed martial arts.
Totally agree 👍🏼.
Bali
why ten top? who cares?
a movie that could be an anime live action. Truly a classic!
ป
You will never get bored watching this movie again and again
And that’s exactly why I came here
Yes
Yes yes yes
The fact that he asked him if he want to learn that technique is that he redeemed himself to not kill. That technique cannot be Mastered if you are evil because to be a buddhist you have be pure in mind and soul
Thanks for that, I figured it was that and he finally met someone who was his kungfu superior.
Feels like the Ending of the first arc of Jounrey to the West. Protagonist attains peace and takes antagonist as his disciple
19 years and I didn't even know this.
Now i realize, hongkong can make a anime action movie better than hollywood...
They don't make these kinds of movies anymore, the fight scenes are straight out of an anime!
To be fair, they didn't make these kinds of movies before either. Kung Fu Hustle sort of stands alone in its field, for it's unique fusion of martial arts, comedy and Loony Toons-style violence.
@@GusMcGuire really? How about shaolin soccer. It have the same vibe to it.
@@hadli93 yeah but it's also made by Steven chow, his movies are a category of their own
The toad style was just so weird but strangely intimidating. Great characterization for the villain. It shows what kind of weird, creepy shit he got up to in his pursuit of strength.
The Toad Style actually has its roots in classical Chinese novels. A very famous Chinese author wrote several series of fantasy martial art stories and in one of those series wrote about an evil Kung Fu master inventing this Toad Style (and in the process lost his mind). So that's basically where this Toad Style came from 😊
True words have never been spoken 😅. The dude could try other techniques but went for toadman.
@@MC-tm2uy actually he lost his mind due to studying a modified, false version of 9 yin, not because of the toad style, he already mastered the toad style by the beginning of the novel.
@@MC-tm2uy he didn't lose his mind because of the style, its because of the another style the fake 'Nine Yang Manual'
@@MC-tm2uy Ouyang Feng?🤔
This movie is one of those rare situations where the film is cringey and ridiculous but embraces that and takes it way past the extreme, to the point the film makes it to the other side and becomes good again. It actually goes from extremely cringey to extremely epic in its own way, especially this final fight where this 'chosen one' is basically Neo with the Force. I'll admit, using this Buddhist Palm technique or whatever it is that resembles the Force, to not only crush a powerful foe into the ground, but intimidate him by blasting a big ass hole clean through a damn building is f*cking awesome!!!
Qi and The Force are essentially the same thing. There are also various myths about The One all throughout Eurasia. Authur Pendragon and Jackie Chan are a couple examples in mind. :3
Probably the best Kung fu movie of the last 20 years.
every asian parents wishing their boy to be a lawyer or doctor even while he is fighting the greatest villian
How is this such an awesome movie? I can’t explain it to anyone, but everyone that has watched it from my referral loves.
its a action comedy.. like people who we think are normal turn out to be some kind of badass that no one ever knew.

A Stephen Chow masterpiece!
I've seen martial arts movies over the past 40 years that have utterly blown me away. But when considering the best martial arts movie of all time, this consistently pops up in my top 3, if not the best depending how I'm feeling.
What are the other two? 🙂
@@imemine246 The Raid 1+2 as a combined movie and whatever your favourite Jackie Chan movie is as it's hard to say from all of them. Personally I preferred Wheels on Meals, but he has so much content it's hard to nail down one movie.
That's better than the recent marvel CGI. A true classic.
Marvel movies may looked awesome, but their movies, there's no other words to put it (and a lot of people will be attacking me for this), are made purely for raking in money and lacked soul.
In other words, Marvel movies felt like those cheap "Made in China" stuff, mass-produced and overemphesized on quantity than quality
Ok then watch all the movies before 2021 and then compare them with other industry movies @@muhammadnursyahmi9440
5:38 those are some powerful kicks. He woulda prob made a good soccer player.
He pretty good at soccer go watch Shaolin Soccer it another good one too
That eagle 🦅😂😂😂😂
Still better than Birdemic's ones...
I've watched this movie for the first about ten years ago, but many of the scenes have been reviving in my memory from time to time. The scene of the main hero just crushing the gangsters' legs super fast appeared from my memory particularly often.
Ingenious. Hilarious.
This is one of the most memorable movies of all time. Loved watching this.
One of the DOPEST Kung Fu flicks EVER!!! 👊🏽
3:43 🤣🤣🤣
Lol. He caused more damage to the village than the gang did.
after so many years this movie is still unqiue and dope
I know this is comedic movie, but it's still so cinematic. The look of disbelief on athe Beasts face @ 3:58 is such a great little moment.
2:51 this will always be my favorite seen. Lol
this was in 2004. Jeez, watching it today doesn't even feel like its that old.

Only move I can watch again and again
👍🏼 Agree.. And shaolin soccer too. 😬
Stephen Chow is pure genius
This is such a goofy classic film I never grow tired of watching it!!!
The last move where a hand gesture toward the building behind to stop him from cheating is the most epic and climax of this fighting scene.
Yeah this movie is one of my favorite Kung-fu movies.
Even marvel cannot defeat this hahaha
The apartment complex was destroyed by two guys fighting. Who pay for that???
doesnt matter, in a couple years the Japanese invaded China and bombed the shit out of that building anyways.
This is how Chop Socky ...SHOULD...be made....campy...totally unreal....and hilarious. When these things take themselves too seriously they become boring
Best movie sin
That eagle, just minding their own business: DUDE, WTF?!?
The music was amazing
Why they never went with Stephen Chow to make the live action Dragonball movie they had planned and instead thought that Dragonball Evolution was what they needed to make is beyond me.
I’ve watched it over 100 times since I was a child but still die at 8:22
I myself also same, watch many times before.
This movie's fucking weird...
AND I LOVE IT.
this movie is still ahead of time
I BELIEVE THIS MOVIE 🎥 WAS OUT BEFORE - THE MATRIX 👍 👌!!!
In the end,he tamed the Beast. It's poetic really.

Only one word for this movie

Looks like an episode from Dragon ball z.
If this is a Dbz movie,then it's 10/10
I would pay to watch this again in the cinema over anything coming out of Hollywood these days
My brothers and I watch this and was on the floor laughing in the movie theater with snot coming out of our nose. Hell of a movie. Great times.
The pinball machine is awesome.
This is beyond my imagination, and i accept that even this impossible to do in real life.

MASTER🔥😭💀
3:45 still da best move
This movie is ahead of its time n since i saw it ive been waiting for a sequel... damn
何度見ても名場面‼️
Last scene was op! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The movie was meant to be a comedic parody of many classics...
but the special effect is excellent.
Now we will wait until the animation adition.. ❤❤😊😊😊
Final is epic. Not killing the bad guy. Respecting him. And make a peaceful ending.
I don't understand how the Toad Style is supposed to be an OP move. Earlier in the movie he himself said in Kung Fu, speed determines the winner. And yet in the Toad Style the opponent would have a lot of time to dodge
The OG _Ultra Instinct_ 🥲
It may be a bit corny or slapstick at times, but it really is an epic fucking Wu Xia film.
2:30 It's raining men, hallelujah it's raining men oh yeah.
Super guys 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤
The music! I'm speechless.
Classic!
I watch this movie all the time ever since I was 9 years old😂
And when Bollywood makes this kind of action they call it cheap or funny or illogical
Hypocrisy
