Great tool, and the result is amazing, that little hatchet is very sharp. I like sharp tools.

I've never cared how they look, so I just make my own strop with a scrap of leather and a piece of wood.
It's just too easy to make.
Btw a good source of leather is the 5lb bags of " farm remnants " available at micheals craft stores.
I no longer go that route myself choosing instead to order full shoulders online for my holster and knife sheath making, but when I first started the farm remnants were a great way to go.

I'm glad we didn't get to see Doc do a fingerectomy on himself with the hatchet. I've had some leather and a buffing compound waiting to be turned into a strop for a couple of years, but I decided to order this one because, at this price, it's silly to buy, shape, and finish the wood. And it's too hot outside (I live in central Texas) right now.

The mini hatchet reminds me of the new diamond plate lanske stones from Sharpal. Plastic handle with a magnet and then you place a diamond plate in there.

I found buffalo leather strops to be a step up from cowhide. Tokushu Knife has quality buffalo strops at a reasonable price. Also, Gunny Juice diamond emulsion works great on leather strops. Well respected in the knife community.

I would be very interested in seeing a video of you taking an edge from dull to razor sharp.

It wouldn’t be exciting. I think of that Abe Lincoln quote, “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.”

Check out Neeves Knives channel. He has quite a few videos of knife sharpening with different types of sharpeners. Besides reviewing Knives He reviews sharpeners and offers a sharpening service.
Doc is right though, watching someone spend a hour or two (depending on condition of the edge) loses its excitement after a few minutes.

Couldn’t you put the angle block under the knife and drag it backwards?

Overpriced garbage that anyone with 2 hands can make themselves for a fraction of the cost.

Kinda dumb for a pocket knife, it'll just roll over any time you actually go to use it, and then you lose your edge anyway. Pocket knives this sharp are for nothing more than showing off.
