    It's not a 1000$ build if you have a pile of leftovers from 20 cars that you had to pay or trade for parts. I've got no money in my drift car because I sell Mercedes parts but it would cost a small fortune to buy all the parts.

    I had a mercury once that was losing water and was going home in the freezing cold . It started steaming with 1 mile to go home and i wasnt about to get out and walk. We made it home but it cooked the oil. So it was solidified and chunky like those heads. I pulled the valve covers and it took a spoon to dig the oil chunks from around the rockers. It ruined the engine, the valves knocked from that point so it went to the salvage.

    • @chuckfry1227
      @chuckfry1227 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Anybody who knows about LS powered GM vans knows, the heat that is held in that dog house causes that slop to form in just about every one of them over 150k miles. Most times those vans were company vehicles and maintained regularly, but cheaply. The recycled Quickie lube oil doesn't hold up well in the underhood temps of those vans. I doubt it was overheated at all. Chances are it just got used up, traded in and nobody wanted to sell a van with high miles, so off to auction it went and ended up at the recycler. Run it! Like Ben said, it'll probably run forever.

We took a 144K 5.3 out of a junk Yukon Looked at one rod and one main bearing used the stock accessories and added one ebay 76 mm turbo and came off the trailer at 10 psi and did a 6.30 did nothing else but tune her to run a best 18 months and 400 plus passes later at 5.60 and 24 lbs when we finally lost a piston from a aeromotive fuel pump that didn't live up to it's advertised potential.Pure junkyard stock we did use the Magasquirt that was new at 1300.00.

      doesn't matter with hydraulic lifters . its not a lash adjustment, just a torque setting as long as the correct length push rods are used.

    I'm building my own turbo 6.0L 4L80 swap on my shortbed Silverado... I will tell u this it cost waaaat more than a thousand to safely make 1000hp. Machinist bill alone was $1200. U need lower end bearings, a cam, valve springs, lifters, new piston rings and gapped to correct spacing. Really a port and polish is recommended too.

      Just a crankshaft I want is 1200 bucks.

      @@sethh8892 just use stock crank they will take well over 1000hp

    It's pretty cool I happen to stumble upon your channel. I am also building a 1st gen standard cab Colorado and I'm building an LQ4 with new Ls2 flat top pistons , reconditioned gen 4 rods , balanced and polished crank , Clevite H series rod and main race bearings , BTR LS7 head gaskets , LS3 821 ported and polished heads BTR
    .660 springs with LS3 rocker arms with the trunion upgrade. BTR LS3 stage 4 nationally aspirated cam. I'm running a small block.chevy electric water pump with the adapters to work on LS motors. I just got to the part in this video where you talked about the same intake I'm going with. going with the Super Victor but I still need to order that along with a carb. I haven't yet decided what carb or cfm I'm going to run. Maybe you guys can help me make that's decision. I have two rear ends . I have a 8.8 that's I cut down to 44" with no tube ends welded on . I have a 9" housing and center section that full length with an extra set of gears. I'm probably going to go with the 8.8 for now due to the fact that parts are a lot cheaper and the 8.8 is lighter and will hold up just as good by welding the tube and running bracing . I have been asking around about my set up and what I'm looking to do over what gears I should run and everyone is telling me 411 and bigger. I'm also trying to decide whether to go with a 2speed powerglide or go with a 3 speed Tutbo 400. My truck will be strictly an 1/8th mile drag truck. I plan on going with a tube back half 4 link adjustable coilover set up to run big or small tires. I'm looking to convert my steering from power to manual rack and pinion. I'm looking at swapping an S10 manual rack and pinion set up into my Colorado. I'm also running adjustable coilover up front. I have stripped all metal not needed throughout. Everything on the inside of the cab has been stripped . I have cut the front fender wells completely out which opened up the engine compartment and gave me plenty of room to run a twin turbo set up later. I am filling in the tail light openings , both door handles, the fuel filler opening, both mirror bases and the tailgate will be sold and I'm going to fabricate a lightweight one piece fixed tailgate and roll pan. The inside of the bed will be cut out and I'm going to make an aluminum bed cover that will have a hinge to allow access to the battery and fuel cell. That's what I'm planning and I'm glad I found you guys. Definitely following your build.

    How to get a motor from u guys

  • @gd1996

    It might run fine and last a long time... but not knowing the history, mileage etc, I always pull the caps and check bearings. There is a reason the van was in a junk yard and with transmission out already, most likely the engine or trans was the issue. The oil like that couldn't have been good for the bearings. Then again if I had someone else doing the install/removal, why not take a chance lol

    But you guys got a lot of stuff for free right or at least in trade? So it's not like you had to start with an empty engine stand and $1,000 in your pocket and come up with a thousand horsepower engine on the stand, is that correct? Because I would love to do it, I got a thousand bucks and an empty engine stand so yeah I would love a thousand horsepower engine on it !! Awesome video and build can't wait to see how it turns out, thanks guys 👍🏻
