    Thorsten should publish a series about Straight Pool. But we also need Rollie standing all the time next to the table and asking. I would pay for that.

    Fun fact: In the modern era of straight pool he's the only one with more than one world championship, winning it five times.

    Hohmann, Eckert, and Souquet are so classy and polished! I really strive to be like them, and I wish pool pros in the future adopt that from them! Maybe it's a German thing, and Filler is a bit of an outlier in that area...

      @@matthiaskopp9305 tell that to Kaci and Gorst, who despite being younger than Filler (as well as many others like him), are always so respectable in their behavior. Honestly, most of this generation is pretty well-mannered, but it is always the bad apples that people remember (i.e. Hatch for the previous gen)

    Jokes aside this guy plays alot like i do. By experience. And hes a fantastic shot. Good video

    Thorsten has such an unusual stroke . . . the way his stick pops upward after striking the cue ball. There seems to be very little follow through. I never noticed this watching him play in tournaments.

    Hey Rollie, great video and nice choice of Pro Player to do the video with. Since you've broadened your pool world by looking at straight pool too, how bout we get an episode with Mika Immonen as well. Thorsten and Mika have played lots of straight pool against each other and their contrasting styles is fun to watch.

    I’m new to pool so forgive me. How is that break legal? I am confusion.

    • @LeonFleisherFan
      @LeonFleisherFan 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      He started off with the type of break shot (there's a reason the game is called 14.1 - whenever there's only one ball and the cue ball left, the other fourteen are being re-racked) one encounters every rack during any game of Straight Pool (the original term for 14.1 or 14/1), what you're seeing is not the break-off first shot of a game (or match = same thing in this case) of Straight Pool.

    5:11 I have a better idea of shooting 9 instead of 8 followed by 6--8-10-5-7-1 only on my own way of executing it.. Every player has their own way of cleaning the table I guess

  • @kubaszynkiewicz

    Straight pool is a different type of Pool than the one i play in my local bar right? Why could he just hit random balls?

    • @bushputz
      @bushputz 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Straight pool (or 14-1 continuous pool) is a completely different game than playing 8 ball or 9 ball. A game of 8 ball or nine ball can be over in a minute or two. Straight pool is usually played to 100 or 125 points and a game can take well over an hour or two. You clear off all the balls until only one object ball and the cue ball remain on the table. The other 14 balls are racked, and your turn continues until you miss or win the game.
      Here is a video of one of the great straight pool players doing a 100 ball run.
      th-cam.com/video/2zNaPXkRGN8/w-d-xo.html
      Straight pool demands concentration for long periods of time. Imagine you're this guy's opponent. You ran several balls, but had a mental lapse, and now you have to sit there getting cold while this guy runs rack after rack after rack.

    • @bushputz
      @bushputz 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lot's of people think straight pool is an easy game because you can call any ball into any pocket at any time. While this is true, it demands great cue ball control and great focus to get any good.

    • @LeonFleisherFan
      @LeonFleisherFan 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Correct, it's call shot, but the order is free. It's an ideal game for beginners to practice and learn, but historically also a true test for professionals, as well as the most popular discipline until 9-Ball became popular because of, ironically, television, or one might say, the promise of televised events (pool hasn't actually been growing since, rather the contrary is true unfortunately).

    John 14:6 says
    6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
    Jesus said that He is the Way to God. He is the path to eternal life. Do you want hope? Do you want a purpose? Do you want eternal life? Jesus died for you thousands of years ago for your sins and mine. It is by believing in Him, placing our faith and trust in Him, and repenting of our sins we can be sure that we can have eternal life because of what Jesus has done for me and you! Repent and believe the Gospel! Hallelujah!
