    It's incredibly refreshing to know that I can watch a video without having to worry that Obsidian beginners are also watching 😉

      Literally just downloaded and installed Obsidian yesterday afternoon, still haven't done anything with it. I found the video helpful, informative, well-presented and interesting. There's potential there.

    I take forever to take notes because of an intense fear that if my notes don't capture everything the literature says, something very bad is going to happen. Your content has partially helped, but I would like to know how to get past that fear, when I already know that is what's stopping me from creatively writing what I read in my own words....
    Any advice? I couldn't find anyone else who might be able to answer this, as I could really relate to how I fall prey to collector's fallacy and then I tried doing the reminders on paper instead of highlighting (which still takes long to finish and then I forget the content and I need to read it all over for details I may miss) and then I tried implementing RTL but I'm really not getting anywhere because it's all taking away my time in exchange for no tangible work done.

    This video is really helpful. I’ve started vaults multiple times and can’t seem to find the “perfect” system. I seem to always fall pray to the collector’s fallacy.
    Asking questions about an existing idea encourages my brain to think more and establish stronger connections which make the creation of new notes more meaningful.
    Thanks again!

      Glad to hear it. I was shocked today when I saw that my last video upload was back on Feb. 7. Illness, vacation, hatred of how I was doing certain things in Obsidian, a perfectly reasonable amount of laziness-all of those things were responsible for the delay.

      Sorry I haven't released much lately. I've had a bunch of other things on my plate for a while. I don't have any plans to upload my vault, but if there's something in particular you want instructions on how to do, let me know and I'll try to reply (somewhat) promptly.

    Until your next video, can you give us a hint on how you construct the queries you use for the relevance categories?

    • @forrestrperry
      @forrestrperry  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sure thing. It's pretty straightforward, so long as you're already somewhat familiar with how queries are created.
      You create a query that runs a search for all lines that contain BOTH (a) the title of the claim page the query is on (or, put differently, the title of the file it's in) AND (b) whatever shorthand you're using for the different degrees of relevance (I use "relevance - high, " relevance-medium," and "relevance - low," but you could just as well use "high relevance," etc. or "rh," "rm," and "rl," and so on.
      Then you want to make sure the search doesn't return as one of its results the page/file that the query is on/in: that's why I have "file:-," with the "-" telling the query NOT to return as a result the file itself.
      ```query
      line:("INSERT WITHIN THESE QUOTATION MARKS THE TITLE OF CLAIM PAGE THE QUERY APPEARS ON" "relevance - high" ) file:-"INSERT WITHIN THESE QUOTATION MARKS THE TITLE OF CLAIM PAGE THE QUERY APPEARS ON"
      ```

      I need to get Chibber to realize that capitalism will persist so long as people aren't regularly using Obsidian to develop their ideas about political economy. Or something like that.

      Yeah, i mean it would be just easier to show then tell rather than rambling on about the topic with some lofi music in the background like other youtubers’ videos.
      I find it better and less frustrating and less time consuming because I can just copy what other methods that is SHOWN with the pros and cons of the method rather than being told about it.
