Just to explain, the whole time you've been playing as Anthony Clarke, the true identity of Andrew. The rest of the group were hallucinations, same with the people from the past, were representations of his deceased family. The death of Anthony’s family filled him with guilt, remorse, and psychological trauma. That’s why he doesn’t have a demon chasing him the entire time. The tragic events of the past, and his failure to save his family (personified by the other playable characters surrounding him in Little Hope), were the very demons that haunted him throughout his life. The whole journey across Little Hope was about acceptance, just as the hint you were given by the curator mentioned. Anthony, based on this ending, had learned to accept that it wasn't his fault for what happened to his family. Vince was Tanya Clarke's boyfriend, and he's also there as part of his grief over her loss. As for Mary during the witch trials, she is the embodiment of the little sister, Megan, who you can chose to blame or consider innocent due to Anthony seeing Megan's toy as the cause for the fire.
I got the ending where the everyone lives and Anthony doesn’t blame Megan, and the boyfriend forgives Anthony. Then he stops outside a diner for some reason
Didn’t he have a psychotic break when the cop said the detour through Little Hope due to PTSD which caused him to hallucinate the little girl and flip the bus over, and like all of this is just hallucinations or whatever?

@@noodledogs I got so scared for John because he almost didn't walked out the door. They didn't got the worst ending but Neither the best because PG got Scared and shot the Creature. Bro they didn't even needed the gun. The only time they had to use it is if Taylor and Daniel was "Alive". They would have gotten Trapped by their Creatures and you had to choose as Andrew which to save. I'm not 100% Sure but i think Saving Daniel is good because you can save Taylor Right after with the Bullet or The Knife or something nearby. They skipped some stuff because they died but was still the same. Like they said the Choices were bigger than QTE's and Before Daniel Died did you heard a Beep? There was a Heartbeat Qte he had to do but he messed up, he probably kept Tapping buttons while Talking. Didn't matter because he would have died later anyways because he didn't Reassured the others, that goes to the Heroic route. I'm happy though that Dontai Saved Angela rather than leaving her. Now it was just Berlin that Ducked up.
So... I've successfully wasted my entire day watching ending compilations for this game, despite never having played it myself, to get (I hope) a definitive breakdown of what went on. *BIG SPOILERS FOR THIS PLAYTHROUGH **_AND OTHER ENDINGS_* For simplicity's sake, all the characters are named here according to the names of the playable characters, since I think those are the ones we're most familiar with now. The whole message of the game is about facing your demons and making peace with the past. 1972 with the house fire is the 'real' timeline. Andrew survives his family, and is stuck with grief, survivor's guilt and PTSD after the events. He returns to Little Hope years later (as the bus driver) and is forced to face his demons - metaphorically, but literally in the form of hallucinations. Carrying the weight of the family members who died, he hallucinates them all being there with him. As you progress through the game, you aim to help them all overcome their demons (some of these are a little loose): John, his father, needs to become the figure of authority he always failed to be. Angela, his mother, needs to become more understanding and compassionate, instead of being callous (like she was with Mary/Megan) - . Daniel, his brother, needs to be heroic and protect his family. and Taylor, his sister, needs to be part of the group and not feel ignored and sided against. In terms of gameplay, each character *must* confront their demon rather than running, and when given the option between heroism and fear, choose heroism. In this playthrough, because Angela ran instead of staying and facing the demons, she was ultimately unworthy at the end and died in the house. For Taylor, I think the left/right choice was kind of bullshit, but when choosing left you have to shoot the demon to save her - then later on you have the option of being fearful or heroic when her demon attacks again, and if you choose the heroic action you can fight it off, and leave the house at the end. Then Daniel had to be heroic and face his demon alone - you can stab the demon when it turns towards John in the previous part, and the two choices from the hole were "Reassure - go, I've got this." (something like that) or "Reckless - get me out of here now!" (again, paraphrasing). Reckless was chosen, and because he wasn't heroic and didn't face the demon willingly, he was beaten by it. Mary's story is a little deeper. Through various clues you can find, it becomes apparent that Reverend Carver (in 1972) is likely assaulting Mary when he holds her back after Sunday school. This is the cause of her behaviour, then amplified by the fact her family doesn't listen to her or seem to particularly care about her (mirrored by how all the characters except Andrew believe she is the evil one until the very end). The demon shown over her shoulder is, I assume, symbolic of the trauma she carries. Many hints throughout the game indicate that Reverend Carver was the truly evil one. This is then resolved at the end when you confront him in the courtroom - Andrew tells the Judge that Carver has been abusing and manipulating Mary. By doing this, you exonerate Mary from the responsibility of her family's deaths, and set yourself free of the guilt of not being able to save her. For Vince, you basically just have to be nice to him. Don't bother him again at the bar, and don't shoot at him. Then, instead of calling the cops, he forgives Andrew for what happened. He gives you directions to a diner and a phone you can use to leave Little Hope. Outside the diner, Andrew is finally set free of the guilt, and the 'souls' of his lost family that haunted him all those years are let go and disappear, each reassuring him that it wasn't his fault. *Other possible outcomes:* Andrew saves everyone (best ending) - outlined above, you have to be nice to Vince, save everyone, save Mary. Vince forgives Andrew (good ending) - same as above, except you didn't save every family member. Andrew is arrested - this can happen as they walk along the highway (if you save at least one family member) or outside the house (if you failed to save any), and is only triggered if you anger Vince. Andrew kills himself (worst ending) - triggered by failing to save any of the family members, failing to save Mary, and angering Vince. Burn the poppet (???) - not sure about the outcome of this one, but if you burn the poppet in the final vision, the brazier falls over and the courtroom catches fire. As for what happens after with regards to Vince and the cops, I'm not sure. *tldr* and the moral of the story; the whole game plays out as a hallucination of a man burdened by guilt and PTSD, as he believes himself responsible for the death of his family. By facing your demons, overcoming them, and reconciling your past mistakes, you can be forgiven. And while Carver was the truly evil one, Andrew is kinda sus for imagining that his brother and sister are dating.
None of them are biologically related. It is implied in the beginning that they are all adopted, hence the father saying how they never had any kids of their own. And the mother saying it was a low blow because she most likely can't conceive. This is why he gets a bit jealous when they're talking about Tanya's boyfriend because Andrew could sense his adoptive brother had feelings for her

The ending is honestly so sad. The PTSD that anthony went through really messed him up. The whole story totally messed with my head, great story though. Excited for the next one in 2021.
ENDING EXPLAINED [SPOILERS]: - The house fire at the start of the game was real. Anthony saw his family die in that house fire and survived when he ran in at the ens of the opening scene (as we saw him at the funeral). Due to him holding the matches in his hand, he blamed himself for the deaths in his family (not knowing that Megan’s creepy demonic self started it with the doll. Vince (the black dude who was Tanya’s boyfriend) also blamed Anthony and was obviously the other man in Little Hope. Little Hope ending up shutting done and abandoned due to the situation in the factory that Anthony’s dad mentioned at the start. Without the factory, the town lost its revenue and went broke, Anthony was working for a bus company at the time. He was reading a book on witches/withcraft and was forced to drive through Little Hope by cop at the start who told him he needed to make a detour. Driving through the town gave him PTSD and he imagined Megan on the road. When he crashed the bus, he imagined himself as dead too and that he and his family members were reincarnated as different people, as students and a teacher. The witch stuff was all in his head and all the supernatural elements were fake, it was really Anthony in his own head trying to forgive himself for the deaths in the family since saving Mary and not angering Vince leads to the outcome with Vince forgiving him too and Anthony leaving satisfied. Getting everybody killed and having the gun leads to Anthony committing suicide while still trapped in his head as Andrew. Kind of a sad storyline when you think about, fueled by PTSD and Survivor’s Guilt
To Brody: The parents went to Reverend Carson (the guy who oversaw the funeral at the start) since he appeared to be a well-respected member of the community, and offered to help local parents in dealing with their troubled children. Anne and James Clarke trusted him enough to address the issues surrounding their adopted daughter Megan and he met with Megan after the church services. However, the pictures Megan drew of him revealed she was somewhat scared of him. And it was revealed in the game that he was appart of a cult and even conducted a Satanic mass at one point. His suspicious behavior got him reported by parents, resulted in his arrest and made them try to erase him out of history. The negative influence of Reverend Carson causes her to consider killing her family for neglecting her and she eventually follows through but it’s implied that she was simply being manipulated by her fear of Carson and didn’t do it out of hate. This is why the “good” outcome to the Witch Trial flashbacks is exposing Reverend Carver (who is supposed to be the past version of Carson, Anthony found out about his real world deeds when he was arrested) and forgiving/defending Mary (who is supposed to be the past version of Megan.
So then what does Megan’s “demonic self” have to do with anything if it was all made up? There was a tall dark figure standing next to Megan in Anthony’s flashback. And also, if Anthony believed that he caused everyone’s death and that this hallucination is his redemption tour....why is Megan the one who is setting up everyone for death? He couldn’t have known that Megan started the fire so he wouldn’t have any reason to paint her as the bad guy.

I love how most of the games aren’t actually supernatural events. They’re just psychological events triggered but some other force. Like the gas in Man of Medan or Anthony’s ptsd.
Honestly, that’s what makes them so good. It’s so easy to create a horror game and blame it on anything supernatural, but to make them psychological like this, to where the players and watchers have to decipher it is 10 times better

They still gotta make the game harder. There's too many chances in this one and plot armor for some characters if others died, it's a bit silly. Like Taylor can't die in act 3 at all until the end if both Daniel and Angela are dead even though Taylor isn't needed anymore, makes no sense.

***SPOILER ALERT*** If you find one of the the clues that was a letter from the reverend in the house and the drawing on the wall that had Megan talk briefly in the background it was trying to show you that Megan ( The version in the fire) was getting abused by the reverend. Which was the secret he told Mary (The witch trials version) not to tell and threatened her if she did. And that’s why Megan had the bad grades and attendance problems and why she made the weird doll. And The parents from the fire didn’t understand Megan and didn’t believe her and the siblings thought she was just weird. Which is why she set the doll in the fire on the stove to punish the family I think. That’s why they had to unlock those traits, to redeem themselves. Daniel needed to be heroic, John needed to be the leader, Angela needed to be sympathetic to the others and stand by John, I’m not sure about Taylor’s but hers might have been being part of the group*, and Andrews was to save Mary. Since Berleezy left John when he took on his monster she died in the end. Dontai Risked his life when he told the others to go and he’d hold the door as John so he lived. That’s how I saw it.

They had those locked traits because they chose bad dialogue decisions with those traits. They garnered the bad traits throughout the game, and if any of them have two or more at the end, they automatically die
Crazy thing if Joe would have went back to talk to Vince in the beginning they may have realized that he wasn’t responding to anything John said. Leading Andrew to say “if there is anything you can do to help us we would appreciate it.” And Vince response was “There is no US!” It was an amazing play through. I wouldn’t be able to focus if I was playing with my friends.
I remember when I first saw the ending to the game(was watching someone play it), it left me speechless. I'm still shock over it to this day because you would have never thought that was going to happen. The story when you think about it is quite sad. He had guilt in his heart for something that wasnt even his fault but he couldnt forgive himself. Alot of people go through this same situation in real life and I feel for them. Such an amazing twist.

oh wow that ending was actually really sad. dude kills his whole family and ends back up in the town where it happened, and it triggers his demons that he hasnt dealt with and hes forced to fight them. that is so sad damn LMAOOOOO
So the whole entire time, none of this was even real, that’s crazy to think about shout out to the game creators, you go into this expecting just a normal horror game with a bus crash to start, but it turns out it’s Andrew gone crazy after his whole family died in front of him, everything makes so much sense, the fact we never seen the bus driver after the crash, the fact that Andrew was reading some sort of witchcraft or devil thing(reason for thoughts of 1700s) Vince continuing to call Andrew crazy, Amazing plot twist
They also could've gotten the part where tanya bf Vincent Told Anthony he was sorry about what happened and told him to leave the town and never come back its nothing left for him that's a really good ending
So ending would’ve been: 1) Vince and Andrew Forgive all that was the past and leave to a satisfied life. 2)Vince overall seeing you’re crazy and calling cops getting you locked up 3) Andrew mentally going crazy and just killing (shooting) himself
The storyteller dude said that everyone had their own demons. They were right when they found out that they had to do the opposite of the character's personality to overcome their demons and make them survive.
“Never judge anyone shortly. Every saint has a past every sinner has a future.” Right then and there it was telling you to be different then your past self. Most seemed good and they died in the past but in the future( present from the past is future) the only person you made differently was John. I pretty sure there’s multiple endings
the "we will meet again. at least one more time." is a subtle hint he is death. in the first game, if you paid attention, he outright says it. but he says he meets everyone once. so even if you dont play the next game, youll still meet him one more time.
That's a good theory, but that's not why he said that. He said that since the third game may be the last one if the games don't do that well, they confirmed it.

this would make sense if there was an ending where anthony actually did overcome his self loathing. so far in every ending (at least the ones i've seen), anthony never gets over his self loathing. in this one, hes happy the cop arrested him bc he still blames himself for his family's dead. theres 2 versions where he shoots himself, either as anthony or still as andrew, and def still hates himself there too. like from what i remember, anthony never actually gets over his self-blaming, and only finds peace by being punished (jail, death, etc.)

Interpretation of the story and the ending(SPOILER ALERT) Remember when the curator(i believe it was him) said to forgive yourself? It seems like he just had resentment for not being able to save his family from the fire and for being blamed and ridiculed even though he was innocent, he also seems to resent not having the best relationship with his family. Think about it, not only did the past doubles mimic the personality traits, but even his relationships with them mimicked the ones in real life. -Asian guy day of the fire saw the matches and thought Ant was to blame, and he told the authorities which got him arrested, thats why the asian guy plays a judge in little hope. - he resented not paying more attention to Meg and not saving her the most because he was the closest with her, he's the one that she confides in, this relationship is probably also helped by the fact that they are the closest in age. -J , we all know hes a runner, physical, mental, emotional track star. Little hope Usain Bolt. But also, remember when he complimented andrew on his rock throwing skills when they tried to get into that building? During the fire, he threw a rock through the window to wake his dad up - See how Angela felt like she had to do everything herself? Day of the fire, she said that she's singlehandedly holding the family together. - See how hype Taylor and J were to see each other? She's a daddy's girl just like the day of the fire -See how Daniel/Dennis, on the day of the fire had a problem with vince dating his sister and said he blamed it on "new-age bullsh**" ? He seems to have racial prejudice and is against his sister dating a black guy. Moreover, he seemed far more upset than normal like if he and his sister had a thing going on or he at least had feelings for her, which would explain why he and taylor were so worried about angela finding out they were a thing. But considering they were adopted, they might not be blood-siblings. -Remember when the game gave you the chance to talk to vince even after refusing his drink? That might have been an opportunity for you to start making amends and vince would start to blame you less and maybe eventually stop blaming you altogether, remember, andrew is the one that spoke to vince when T brought him home and they got along, so prior to the fire vince and andrew were cool. -The darkest thing hinted at,is the relationship between the rev and Meg. Remember, it turns out that M is actually innocent, which begs the question, what is the secret that the rev threatened her for, telling her not to talk about? You would think the secret was that the rev was framing people for working with the devil, but remember *chronologically* the scene where the rev FIRST threatens M is also the scene where M accuses Amy of witchcraft to the rev, NOT to be confused with the scene where Amy is in court right after the phone call. That scene is the rev threatening M AGAIN, which chronologically comes after. So that means that what the rev is threatening M about is something different. NOW, go back to the day of the fire, remember the mother was telling the father that the Rev held Meg back AFTER the prayers for FOUR WEEKS STRAIGHT? And even the figure in the drawings, its outfit is similar to the rev's. This also ties back to Andrew being the closest with Meg and her confiding in him. She probably told him that something was up with the rev, or that she at least doesn't feel comfortable alone with him, which would explain why we would be able to see a demon over HER in HIS flashback. Also, it seems like if you make enough right choices, and keep everyone safe overnight, maybe even make amends with vince, then everyone including andrew will have conquered their demons how john beat his tendency to run from things and you should get the best ending. Idk if him getting locked up is unavoidable, unless you leave the gun in the box, or AT LEAST don't shoot at the demon near vince. Hopefully you don't get arrested for breaking and entering. p.s. Andrew clearly has PTSD and survivor's guilt.
Theory: The ghosts are bringing you into the past so you can talk to them when they were alive. Mary eventually dies and her spirit feels regret for not speaking against the Rev who was using her as his puppet. So her ghost is bringing you back to when she was alive so you can witness what happened so you can confront her when she was alive in hopes of encouraging here to do so but since most people think shes evil, they rather "help" the doubles which in terms gets them killed in the past, angering their spirits in the present. Edit: Just realized this is the finale so let's see if im right Edit Edit: So much for my theory lmao

I don't know if I'm reading too much into it but I def think that Megan was being abused or at the very least groomed by the reverend their parents kept taking her to. That drawing on her wall of the "devil" looming over her could be her depiction of the reverend (57:07), and that would explain why she was trying so hard to stay away from her school, which is presumably where the Reverend also worked at (she was always absent or tardy). This also explains her behavior with her family, especially her parents. She must have told them at some point and they just didn't believe her.
I honestly think Dontai was right from the jump when he said “they feed off negativity John: wanted to be a leader & show he could protect others but was always running & over doing it Taylor: was to aggressive & quick to panic & snap on people Andrew: was too scared of every to take risks Forgot what Dennis was Angela: was just a bitch 😂😂
My friends and I played this the other day. We got "everyone killed" 😭 *BUT* we ended up saving Andrew and Mary. By getting "everyone killed" Andrew doesn't get arrested and he recognizes he hallucinated the whole thing and was able to forgive himself. This game trippy AF 🙌🏿👏🏿

WOAH! I just realized that when they played House of Ashes, there were 5 candles with the Curator, but in this gameplay there is only one big one basically stating that only one player was truly alive

In both this game and Man of Medan none of the monsters were real they were figments of people's imagination, in man of medan it was hallucination caused by an artifact, and in this game it was all in Anthony's head as a result of trauma I wonder if that's gonna be a theme for the whole anthology
it was mustard gas that caused the hallucinations in man of medan if you found all or half of the secrets that is found out almost early in the game thats why in the first game play if berlin as brad wouldve went back to the locker he would found a gas mask and put it on and wouldnt have tried to fight fliss also when joe was playing conrad the lady sailor was going to turn out to be fliss if he didnt jump off. im kinda late on this response but still lol

So, I think it implies that the priest was abusing Megan in some way, and the final trial is Anthony figuring that out and coming to terms with that (finding stuff in the house at the end and choosing to condemn the priest). I think the demon in the drawing with Megan is meant to be how she sees the priest, as a monster. The mom in the beginning is talking about how there’s something wrong with Megan because the priest is holding her after school a lot. The priest influenced the family’s view of Megan, and Megan’s doll started the fire. When Anthony dreams of what happened with the house fire in the beginning, he’s already in a mental decline. His mind makes up a demon that his messed up little sister talked to and got their family killed maliciously on purpose. As he’s walking around town he can find stuff about how maybe Carver isn’t really that good of a guy, maybe causing him to question the words of the priest their family used to listen to about how messed up his sister was. It allows him to realize that Megan isn’t to blame, and it was probably an accident. That she wasn’t some malicious demon, but a troubled kid. It allows him to forgive her, and stop holding negative emotions toward her for it. I think the same with the character traits. Since they’re all in Anthony’s head, if you change how the characters act, you’re changing how he views his family. He probably thought stuff like “well maybe if mom and dad or Dennis or Tanya weren’t like this, then they could’ve survived the accident or maybe the accident wouldn’t have happened.” It’s a common thing to find anything and anyone else to blame for something that you yourself feel guilty about in order to make yourself feel better. You cope by shifting the blame away from yourself because you can’t stop yourself from placing the blame somewhere. You make all of the traits positive, and it symbolizes him forgiving his family and coming to terms with their deaths not being his fault. The traits stay the same, and they’re set to die because that’s the stuff he blames them for leading to their deaths.

@@ashahill6877 POTENTIAL TW: the pastor/reverend was sexually abusing Mary/Megan, there are a bunch of clues throughout the entire game. to name a few, one of the first ones i believe is when the parents are arguing and the mom says Mary had been being kept after school by the reverend a bunch. the family thought Mary was just a bad/weird kid and Andrew was the only one that suspected there was more to it but he failed to act on it and the rest of the family brushed her off. there are clues of Mary misbehaving and having poor attendance which are a symptom of the abuse. the “demon” is a manifestation of the abuse and Mary kills the family for not listening to her and saving her. the secret the pastor tells Mary not to tell is shown as witchcraft/demonic behavior in the hallucinations, but represents the abuse. there’s a lot of details they talked over, rushed over and didn’t connect. i suggest looking up some videos if you want a more in depth overview of how each detail connects and how they could’ve put together a lot of what was going on earlier on in the game.

And andrew was suspicious about this but he didn’t say anything. I also think that’s why he didn’t know that but clues led up to him truly knowing that she was being abused. Since he had those suspicions, he could finally do what he wanted to do before they all died in the house fire, but in the 17 century. That must’ve been what he whispered in the judges ear, but eezygang missed information to fully know that she was being assaulted so we didn’t know she was.
The Locked traits meant you weren’t supposed to choose those options, PERFECT example is when Joe’s character died because he chose “reckless” instead of “reassure”

I think they did say something about that in the previous parts, you just missed it. They knew that Daniel’s demon was the one with the spikes cuz he got killed by falling into the gate in both lifetimes. They mentioned that and they also mentioned how Angela got suffocated, and it just pieced on to every character.

Just to explain, the whole time you've been playing as Anthony Clarke, the true identity of Andrew. The rest of the group were hallucinations, same with the people from the past, were representations of his deceased family. The death of Anthony’s family filled him with guilt, remorse, and psychological trauma. That’s why he doesn’t have a demon chasing him the entire time. The tragic events of the past, and his failure to save his family (personified by the other playable characters surrounding him in Little Hope), were the very demons that haunted him throughout his life. The whole journey across Little Hope was about acceptance, just as the hint you were given by the curator mentioned. Anthony, based on this ending, had learned to accept that it wasn't his fault for what happened to his family. Vince was Tanya Clarke's boyfriend, and he's also there as part of his grief over her loss. As for Mary during the witch trials, she is the embodiment of the little sister, Megan, who you can chose to blame or consider innocent due to Anthony seeing Megan's toy as the cause for the fire.

So... I've successfully wasted my entire day watching ending compilations for this game, despite never having played it myself, to get (I hope) a definitive breakdown of what went on.
*BIG SPOILERS FOR THIS PLAYTHROUGH **_AND OTHER ENDINGS_*
For simplicity's sake, all the characters are named here according to the names of the playable characters, since I think those are the ones we're most familiar with now.
The whole message of the game is about facing your demons and making peace with the past.
1972 with the house fire is the 'real' timeline. Andrew survives his family, and is stuck with grief, survivor's guilt and PTSD after the events. He returns to Little Hope years later (as the bus driver) and is forced to face his demons - metaphorically, but literally in the form of hallucinations. Carrying the weight of the family members who died, he hallucinates them all being there with him. As you progress through the game, you aim to help them all overcome their demons (some of these are a little loose):
John, his father, needs to become the figure of authority he always failed to be.
Angela, his mother, needs to become more understanding and compassionate, instead of being callous (like she was with Mary/Megan) - .
Daniel, his brother, needs to be heroic and protect his family.
and Taylor, his sister, needs to be part of the group and not feel ignored and sided against.
In terms of gameplay, each character *must* confront their demon rather than running, and when given the option between heroism and fear, choose heroism. In this playthrough, because Angela ran instead of staying and facing the demons, she was ultimately unworthy at the end and died in the house. For Taylor, I think the left/right choice was kind of bullshit, but when choosing left you have to shoot the demon to save her - then later on you have the option of being fearful or heroic when her demon attacks again, and if you choose the heroic action you can fight it off, and leave the house at the end. Then Daniel had to be heroic and face his demon alone - you can stab the demon when it turns towards John in the previous part, and the two choices from the hole were "Reassure - go, I've got this." (something like that) or "Reckless - get me out of here now!" (again, paraphrasing). Reckless was chosen, and because he wasn't heroic and didn't face the demon willingly, he was beaten by it.
Mary's story is a little deeper. Through various clues you can find, it becomes apparent that Reverend Carver (in 1972) is likely assaulting Mary when he holds her back after Sunday school. This is the cause of her behaviour, then amplified by the fact her family doesn't listen to her or seem to particularly care about her (mirrored by how all the characters except Andrew believe she is the evil one until the very end). The demon shown over her shoulder is, I assume, symbolic of the trauma she carries. Many hints throughout the game indicate that Reverend Carver was the truly evil one. This is then resolved at the end when you confront him in the courtroom - Andrew tells the Judge that Carver has been abusing and manipulating Mary.
By doing this, you exonerate Mary from the responsibility of her family's deaths, and set yourself free of the guilt of not being able to save her.
For Vince, you basically just have to be nice to him. Don't bother him again at the bar, and don't shoot at him. Then, instead of calling the cops, he forgives Andrew for what happened. He gives you directions to a diner and a phone you can use to leave Little Hope. Outside the diner, Andrew is finally set free of the guilt, and the 'souls' of his lost family that haunted him all those years are let go and disappear, each reassuring him that it wasn't his fault.
*Other possible outcomes:*
Andrew saves everyone (best ending) - outlined above, you have to be nice to Vince, save everyone, save Mary.
Vince forgives Andrew (good ending) - same as above, except you didn't save every family member.
Andrew is arrested - this can happen as they walk along the highway (if you save at least one family member) or outside the house (if you failed to save any), and is only triggered if you anger Vince.
Andrew kills himself (worst ending) - triggered by failing to save any of the family members, failing to save Mary, and angering Vince.
Burn the poppet (???) - not sure about the outcome of this one, but if you burn the poppet in the final vision, the brazier falls over and the courtroom catches fire. As for what happens after with regards to Vince and the cops, I'm not sure.
*tldr* and the moral of the story; the whole game plays out as a hallucination of a man burdened by guilt and PTSD, as he believes himself responsible for the death of his family. By facing your demons, overcoming them, and reconciling your past mistakes, you can be forgiven. And while Carver was the truly evil one, Andrew is kinda sus for imagining that his brother and sister are dating.
None of them are biologically related. It is implied in the beginning that they are all adopted, hence the father saying how they never had any kids of their own. And the mother saying it was a low blow because she most likely can't conceive. This is why he gets a bit jealous when they're talking about Tanya's boyfriend because Andrew could sense his adoptive brother had feelings for her

ENDING EXPLAINED [SPOILERS]:

The house fire at the start of the game was real. Anthony saw his family die in that house fire and survived when he ran in at the ens of the opening scene (as we saw him at the funeral). Due to him holding the matches in his hand, he blamed himself for the deaths in his family (not knowing that Megan’s creepy demonic self started it with the doll. Vince (the black dude who was Tanya’s boyfriend) also blamed Anthony and was obviously the other man in Little Hope.
Little Hope ending up shutting done and abandoned due to the situation in the factory that Anthony’s dad mentioned at the start. Without the factory, the town lost its revenue and went broke, Anthony was working for a bus company at the time. He was reading a book on witches/withcraft and was forced to drive through Little Hope by cop at the start who told him he needed to make a detour. Driving through the town gave him PTSD and he imagined Megan on the road. When he crashed the bus, he imagined himself as dead too and that he and his family members were reincarnated as different people, as students and a teacher. The witch stuff was all in his head and all the supernatural elements were fake, it was really Anthony in his own head trying to forgive himself for the deaths in the family since saving Mary and not angering Vince leads to the outcome with Vince forgiving him too and Anthony leaving satisfied. Getting everybody killed and having the gun leads to Anthony committing suicide while still trapped in his head as Andrew.

The parents went to Reverend Carson (the guy who oversaw the funeral at the start) since he appeared to be a well-respected member of the community, and offered to help local parents in dealing with their troubled children. Anne and James Clarke trusted him enough to address the issues surrounding their adopted daughter Megan and he met with Megan after the church services.
However, the pictures Megan drew of him revealed she was somewhat scared of him. And it was revealed in the game that he was appart of a cult and even conducted a Satanic mass at one point. His suspicious behavior got him reported by parents, resulted in his arrest and made them try to erase him out of history.
The negative influence of Reverend Carson causes her to consider killing her family for neglecting her and she eventually follows through but it’s implied that she was simply being manipulated by her fear of Carson and didn’t do it out of hate.
This is why the “good” outcome to the Witch Trial flashbacks is exposing Reverend Carver (who is supposed to be the past version of Carson, Anthony found out about his real world deeds when he was arrested) and forgiving/defending Mary (who is supposed to be the past version of Megan.

I love how most of the games aren’t actually supernatural events. They’re just psychological events triggered but some other force. Like the gas in Man of Medan or Anthony’s ptsd.
Honestly, that’s what makes them so good. It’s so easy to create a horror game and blame it on anything supernatural, but to make them psychological like this, to where the players and watchers have to decipher it is 10 times better

If you find one of the the clues that was a letter from the reverend in the house and the drawing on the wall that had Megan talk briefly in the background it was trying to show you that Megan ( The version in the fire) was getting abused by the reverend. Which was the secret he told Mary (The witch trials version) not to tell and threatened her if she did. And that’s why Megan had the bad grades and attendance problems and why she made the weird doll. And The parents from the fire didn’t understand Megan and didn’t believe her and the siblings thought she was just weird. Which is why she set the doll in the fire on the stove to punish the family I think. That’s why they had to unlock those traits, to redeem themselves. Daniel needed to be heroic, John needed to be the leader, Angela needed to be sympathetic to the others and stand by John, I’m not sure about Taylor’s but hers might have been being part of the group*, and Andrews was to save Mary. Since Berleezy left John when he took on his monster she died in the end. Dontai Risked his life when he told the others to go and he’d hold the door as John so he lived. That’s how I saw it.

They had those locked traits because they chose bad dialogue decisions with those traits. They garnered the bad traits throughout the game, and if any of them have two or more at the end, they automatically die

Crazy thing if Joe would have went back to talk to Vince in the beginning they may have realized that he wasn’t responding to anything John said. Leading Andrew to say “if there is anything you can do to help us we would appreciate it.” And Vince response was “There is no US!” It was an amazing play through. I wouldn’t be able to focus if I was playing with my friends.

I remember when I first saw the ending to the game(was watching someone play it), it left me speechless. I'm still shock over it to this day because you would have never thought that was going to happen.
The story when you think about it is quite sad. He had guilt in his heart for something that wasnt even his fault but he couldnt forgive himself. Alot of people go through this same situation in real life and I feel for them.

So the whole entire time, none of this was even real, that’s crazy to think about shout out to the game creators, you go into this expecting just a normal horror game with a bus crash to start, but it turns out it’s Andrew gone crazy after his whole family died in front of him, everything makes so much sense, the fact we never seen the bus driver after the crash, the fact that Andrew was reading some sort of witchcraft or devil thing(reason for thoughts of 1700s) Vince continuing to call Andrew crazy, Amazing plot twist

this would make sense if there was an ending where anthony actually did overcome his self loathing. so far in every ending (at least the ones i've seen), anthony never gets over his self loathing. in this one, hes happy the cop arrested him bc he still blames himself for his family's dead. theres 2 versions where he shoots himself, either as anthony or still as andrew, and def still hates himself there too. like from what i remember, anthony never actually gets over his self-blaming, and only finds peace by being punished (jail, death, etc.)

Interpretation of the story and the ending(SPOILER ALERT)
Remember when the curator(i believe it was him) said to forgive yourself? It seems like he just had resentment for not being able to save his family from the fire and for being blamed and ridiculed even though he was innocent, he also seems to resent not having the best relationship with his family. Think about it, not only did the past doubles mimic the personality traits, but even his relationships with them mimicked the ones in real life.
-Asian guy day of the fire saw the matches and thought Ant was to blame, and he told the authorities which got him arrested, thats why the asian guy plays a judge in little hope.
- he resented not paying more attention to Meg and not saving her the most because he was the closest with her, he's the one that she confides in, this relationship is probably also helped by the fact that they are the closest in age.
-J , we all know hes a runner, physical, mental, emotional track star. Little hope Usain Bolt. But also, remember when he complimented andrew on his rock throwing skills when they tried to get into that building? During the fire, he threw a rock through the window to wake his dad up
- See how Angela felt like she had to do everything herself? Day of the fire, she said that she's singlehandedly holding the family together.
- See how hype Taylor and J were to see each other? She's a daddy's girl just like the day of the fire
-See how Daniel/Dennis, on the day of the fire had a problem with vince dating his sister and said he blamed it on "new-age bullsh**" ? He seems to have racial prejudice and is against his sister dating a black guy. Moreover, he seemed far more upset than normal like if he and his sister had a thing going on or he at least had feelings for her, which would explain why he and taylor were so worried about angela finding out they were a thing. But considering they were adopted, they might not be blood-siblings.
-Remember when the game gave you the chance to talk to vince even after refusing his drink? That might have been an opportunity for you to start making amends and vince would start to blame you less and maybe eventually stop blaming you altogether, remember, andrew is the one that spoke to vince when T brought him home and they got along, so prior to the fire vince and andrew were cool.
-The darkest thing hinted at,is the relationship between the rev and Meg. Remember, it turns out that M is actually innocent, which begs the question, what is the secret that the rev threatened her for, telling her not to talk about? You would think the secret was that the rev was framing people for working with the devil, but remember *chronologically* the scene where the rev FIRST threatens M is also the scene where M accuses Amy of witchcraft to the rev, NOT to be confused with the scene where Amy is in court right after the phone call. That scene is the rev threatening M AGAIN, which chronologically comes after. So that means that what the rev is threatening M about is something different. NOW, go back to the day of the fire, remember the mother was telling the father that the Rev held Meg back AFTER the prayers for FOUR WEEKS STRAIGHT? And even the figure in the drawings, its outfit is similar to the rev's. This also ties back to Andrew being the closest with Meg and her confiding in him. She probably told him that something was up with the rev, or that she at least doesn't feel comfortable alone with him, which would explain why we would be able to see a demon over HER in HIS flashback.
Also, it seems like if you make enough right choices, and keep everyone safe overnight, maybe even make amends with vince, then everyone including andrew will have conquered their demons how john beat his tendency to run from things and you should get the best ending. Idk if him getting locked up is unavoidable, unless you leave the gun in the box, or AT LEAST don't shoot at the demon near vince. Hopefully you don't get arrested for breaking and entering.
p.s. Andrew clearly has PTSD and survivor's guilt.

Theory: The ghosts are bringing you into the past so you can talk to them when they were alive. Mary eventually dies and her spirit feels regret for not speaking against the Rev who was using her as his puppet. So her ghost is bringing you back to when she was alive so you can witness what happened so you can confront her when she was alive in hopes of encouraging here to do so but since most people think shes evil, they rather "help" the doubles which in terms gets them killed in the past, angering their spirits in the present.

I don't know if I'm reading too much into it but I def think that Megan was being abused or at the very least groomed by the reverend their parents kept taking her to. That drawing on her wall of the "devil" looming over her could be her depiction of the reverend (57:07), and that would explain why she was trying so hard to stay away from her school, which is presumably where the Reverend also worked at (she was always absent or tardy). This also explains her behavior with her family, especially her parents. She must have told them at some point and they just didn't believe her.

So, I think it implies that the priest was abusing Megan in some way, and the final trial is Anthony figuring that out and coming to terms with that (finding stuff in the house at the end and choosing to condemn the priest). I think the demon in the drawing with Megan is meant to be how she sees the priest, as a monster. The mom in the beginning is talking about how there’s something wrong with Megan because the priest is holding her after school a lot. The priest influenced the family’s view of Megan, and Megan’s doll started the fire. When Anthony dreams of what happened with the house fire in the beginning, he’s already in a mental decline. His mind makes up a demon that his messed up little sister talked to and got their family killed maliciously on purpose. As he’s walking around town he can find stuff about how maybe Carver isn’t really that good of a guy, maybe causing him to question the words of the priest their family used to listen to about how messed up his sister was. It allows him to realize that Megan isn’t to blame, and it was probably an accident. That she wasn’t some malicious demon, but a troubled kid. It allows him to forgive her, and stop holding negative emotions toward her for it. I think the same with the character traits. Since they’re all in Anthony’s head, if you change how the characters act, you’re changing how he views his family. He probably thought stuff like “well maybe if mom and dad or Dennis or Tanya weren’t like this, then they could’ve survived the accident or maybe the accident wouldn’t have happened.” It’s a common thing to find anything and anyone else to blame for something that you yourself feel guilty about in order to make yourself feel better. You cope by shifting the blame away from yourself because you can’t stop yourself from placing the blame somewhere. You make all of the traits positive, and it symbolizes him forgiving his family and coming to terms with their deaths not being his fault. The traits stay the same, and they’re set to die because that’s the stuff he blames them for leading to their deaths.

the pastor/reverend was sexually abusing Mary/Megan, there are a bunch of clues throughout the entire game. to name a few, one of the first ones i believe is when the parents are arguing and the mom says Mary had been being kept after school by the reverend a bunch. the family thought Mary was just a bad/weird kid and Andrew was the only one that suspected there was more to it but he failed to act on it and the rest of the family brushed her off. there are clues of Mary misbehaving and having poor attendance which are a symptom of the abuse. the “demon” is a manifestation of the abuse and Mary kills the family for not listening to her and saving her. the secret the pastor tells Mary not to tell is shown as witchcraft/demonic behavior in the hallucinations, but represents the abuse. there’s a lot of details they talked over, rushed over and didn’t connect. i suggest looking up some videos if you want a more in depth overview of how each detail connects and how they could’ve put together a lot of what was going on earlier on in the game.

I think they did say something about that in the previous parts, you just missed it. They knew that Daniel’s demon was the one with the spikes cuz he got killed by falling into the gate in both lifetimes. They mentioned that and they also mentioned how Angela got suffocated, and it just pieced on to every character.
