I have seen other podcasters cover this subject, but you are the 1st one to have taken such an deep dive into their upbringing. The apple didn't fall from the tree. My heart always hurt towards Billy anytime he has interviewed, he was the victim and never was given any grace. Once again Daisy gave us a very informative spooky saturday!
Thank you Angie! I’m really hoping Vili can find some peace in the fact that he left her before her death, she didn’t die thinking she still had him under her thumb so I hope he can feel like he finally stood up for his inner child
THANK YOU!!!!!!!! I was horribly abused as a child, physically, sexually, and emotionally, and I was bullied in school, even by the teachers. And I would NEVER think of treating anyone the way I was treated. The "cycle of abuse" DOES NOT EXIST!!! Only about 1/3 of people who were victims of some kind of abuse or crime then go on to become perpetrator's themselves.
THIS COMMENT REALLY SPEAKS TO ME I was also bullied by students and teachers alike and have survived physical, sexual, & emotional abuse and it’s only made me more aware of how I treat people ESPECIALLY when they’re going thru something
I found you on TikTok and I’m obsessed with your content !! You have such an interesting mind & I love your eyeshadow in this video lol ❤❤❤ sending so much love
I’m rewatching this video after seeing a lot of other videos about this case and I truly adore how clear you are about this situation. We need more people, specially the massive media, to have this level of clarity and a good moral compass 👌 Besides, your humor is on point 😂 Your channel is truly underrated. PS: Have you considered doing a video on The Memphis Three? It would be so interesting having your perspective ❤
I kinda hesitated to watch this video, because already saw the conversations about the case on Tik Tok. But you really nailed it. I can’t think of a better way to talk about such a sensitive case. Great video as always
Just wanted to say I found you on tiktok through one of the videos where you show clips from your youtube; I now love your content! Your delivery is fantastic, super engaging (I have adhd and followed the whole story.) Thanks for sharing with us and great job! You will undoubtedly blow up on here and I'm sure you'll be a comfort creator for a lot of ppl
Ong dude thank you so much!!! I never know if my TikTok teasers actually work or not so this is making me really happy. I also have adhd!! So maybe that’s subconsciously making my storytelling more adhd friendly haha
It was portrayed by the media as a sick love story, not a crime. Patriarchy teaches that boys getting a teacher is a goal. Especially a few decades ago.
@DaisyFoko a hundred years ago this would have been okay only In the modern era people complain about this. Look at Jerry Lee Lewis the American Rock and Roll Musician married his wife who was his cousin Mayra in the 1950s and 1960s back than no one called it pedophilia or grooming or abuse
@@TheAaronChand that’s actually a pretty common misconception. Historically when children were married off to adults it wasn’t common for them to romantically engage until they were older. Pedos have always existed and there’s always been two camps of ppl, those who excuse it (I think it’s good to reflect on why that’s their impulse) and those who don’t.
@DaisyFoko look up Indian Revolutionary Durgawati Devi in India during the Indian independence movement against the Brtish Empire she married her husband another Indian Revolutionary Bhawati Charan Vohra when she was 11 years old and in 5th grade her husband Vohra was 15 years old in the year 1918 Brtish India Ghandi married his wife when he was 13 and she was 14 in May of 1882
Seems that the worst elements of society solidified their relationship and didn't rally around the victim and get some sort of services wrapped around him and the babies
I'm curious about their interview when Villie is in his thirties. Had he changed him mind into thinking that she was a predator? And if that was the case, who decided to have them sit that close together? The whole vibe of that interview is extremely off. Edit: typed the comment before I knew they got married. This is all baffling to me. I agree that I think them having children forced Villie as a child to believe that he had to step up and be active in their life. And perhaps that was encouraged by his family (based on the reaction of his mother).
Yes! They got married but I think the cracks were already there. I can’t speak for him but I have to assume it probably put a lot of things in perspective seeing his own children turn 12
@@DaisyFoko He did go on to say in one segment of the interview (where Mary wasn't present) that he wanted to marry her b/c he wanted his daughters to have both parents in their lives, something which he never had. You were right, she deliberately trapped him until the end of her life
There are so many lenses that you can view this case from: gender roles, power dynamics, white privilege (and the white savior trope), and the sexualization of children of color. Vili was victimized repeatedly during this "relationship" and each time he had to talk about it publicly. He and his daughters will never have a normal life/relationship though now that Mary is gone, they may have the opportunity to reflect.
That is an unpleasant situation. Hot for teacher night is waay too far. I think you're very thoughtful to not platform the incorrect rhetoric. And one thing that's rarely acknowledged is how most pedos aren't into 2yr olds, they are MOST often into teens. Have you ever considered doing a podcast?
Yes!! Ephebophilia (attraction to teens) is much more common! I am currently in preproduction for a podcast that’s supposed to come out next month. It’ll be covering a super broad range of topics where every week I [+ any guests] will deep dive into something super specific. Could be history, true crime, science, really anything so long as we’re hyper focusing on a specific theme for the ep!
@@DaisyFoko That sounds fantastic! Sign me up immediately, I'm in need of more good considerate podcasts that cover grisly topics. Your series so far have been very interesting. If you ever need a guest with a very brief history of uk forensic science lemme know
If there was a teacher hitting on my 12 year son I would come freaking unglued. I feel like she took advantage of his race as well. Also stop punishing grandma. I’m a grandma and it would be extremely difficult to raise another child. One last thing that probably screwed her up for her entire life, her parents put her in an adult situation by watching her brother, instead of them doing their job. That probably had more impact on her than anything else in her life. And then to blame her for it was unforgivable.
Another great video. Your ability to speak and explain such ugly subjects in a beautiful way but YT has you sounding like a kids program with all the x word and y word and z word. Lol
You don’t know for sure if he was manipulated, maybe there is a really strong connection and for boys at that age…it’s a dream to make it out with a teacher, maybe he seduced her in the first place. And also, fyi, we, boys, can’t have s*x if the situation is uncomfortable, so we know for sure that he didn’t felt forced or some kind of pressure. No hate, it’s just my point of view, i know how I was thinking at 12
Regardless of what a child might think they want or are okay with at the time the psychological repercussions are always the same. There’s a reason we know there’s so such thing as a consenting child cuz they can’t conceptualize the mental state it will put them in later in life once they begin to actually understand what they were agreeing to
Young boys and men absolutely can perform under duress. "Regardless of what a child might think they want or are okay with..." a child cannot consent. I really appreciate the way Daisy is empathetic to the victim without putting words in his mouth. Also, she draws a line in the sand for the perpetrator without demonizing her, as that doesn't further the conversation.
“Can’t let your marriage stop you from finding your husband” hell of a quote
IKR

Exactly which is so so so WRONG
10/10 vid paused my study session cuz it was that good 🫡🫡🫡
Oh wow thank you so much!
That “Valentins” letter was written by a CHILD. Not a man. This is so sad that that boy had his innocence stolen by this perpetrator 😢
Exactly.
