🫠Regarding your question, if you are upgrading the SSD, there is no need to disable BitLocker. If you had BitLocker on your old drive, when you use the old drive externally and try to open it via USB, it will ask for the BitLocker code that you should have or that is synced to your Hotmail account. If you forgot the BitLocker code, you can just format the drive and reuse it.
If you had BitLocker on your old drive and you remove and reinsert it, it will not ask for the key. However, you are not wrong; you should disable BitLocker if you intend to use the old drive externally and access your old files, IF you don't have the KEY. Otherwise, you will need to format it to use it.

🫠Regarding your question, if you only add extra storage and don't touch the windows os storage then you don't need to install windows. the only time you will be needing to install windows is when you remove the main storage where the windows is installed.
for the ram you don't need to do anything it is just plug and play.
